I have loved the real Titanic all my life and have loads of books and really appreciate the spirit of it. There has been a lot recovered from the wreck site and yet I have seen none of it and would I feel anything if I did see it? I doubt it. Yet look at what Jim managed to do by making his film. Global uplifting in interest and fascination of the real ship herself. I would thank Jim as much as Titanic has thanked him herself.
I've seen the Titanic exhibit twice, and touched the big piece. YEAH, YOU FEEL IT..sort of a combination of exhilaration. And extreme sadness at the same time.
When John Jacob Astor's crushed,soot-covered body was recovered from the waters, his pockets contained his pocket watch (time frozen at 2:20) and over $2,000 cash.So this mantle clock registers the same time as his watch.
Also, there's no proof J. J. Astor was "crushed & soot-covered". The people who found his body & identified him said his body was in pristine condition, apart from some discolouration due to being in the water for so long. Research, please.
If you get the Titanic VR game on Steam, you can actually go into the Strauss stateroom and see the clock, recreated on the fireplace! Although a simulation, the experience is as close as you can get to exploring Titanic's wreckage in real time! And the best part is, you won't have to spend your life's fortune to do it!
It's amazing that the clock remained on the mantle considering how hard the wreck hit the bottom. I imagine the remaining woodwork would just disintegrate in your hands
@7MMXXI But a carafe and glass found still on the shelves of a intact upright washstand way down in a D deck cabin were not bolted and yet remained perfectly in situ (the objects faced forward towards the bow). How do you explain that? It would mean the bow did not sink/land as everyone assumes it did.
This video includes one of the most remarkable archaeological discoveries of the modern age. It's truly unbelievable to see such a relic surface from the murky depths after so many years lost to the ravages of time. 6:23 : the rediscovery of the ill-fated Windows Media Centre Edition.
If everyone would think like that there would be no need to build museums because they would be empty. There would be no need to hire archaeologist's because they would not be allowed to retrive our lost history.Without our history we can not know who we are nor what some day we hope to become. Some don't want to digg up our past out of fear but our history is oss,it is apart of oss. If we do not serach for it it will be forgotten and lost and our lives will have no past,no future and no meaning.
I was just about to say here how on earth is the clock still on that fireplace un till 55 secs in n James answers my question it was bolted on, alway wondered that
I've been a Titanic fanatic since Ballard discovered the wreck in '85, and not because of the James Cameron film! I've remained interested ever since the discovery and I had strong reservations related to taking items from the debris field and certainly not from the ships interior. Older, I still agree with that logic on whether or not they should remove artifacts from the site. I mean, it is a grave site overall, but now knowing the ship will one day be a rust stain on the ocean floor, I've weighted other options and beginning to think, it might not be such a bad idea.
I'm starting to feel the same way just as the other guy said document everything how, where, measures and picture every single thing there is to be done before deciding on what is best for the future of titanic artifacts, I'm still on the fence here never ever thought this should be done but if lost forever then there'd be nothing but maybe regret
Had they been able to get both ROV’s in the Strauss suite at the same time they might have been able to see the hands had one bot shined its light directly at the glass from the side . While the other viewed from head on
MDkid1 I can't see anything to do with that movie without thinking of family guy when the horse walked in on the tent when they had " brokeback mountain from the horses perspective"
Yeah I'd have a big notebook like that to ask Cameron questions as well! LOL imagine being stuck in a submersible with him for 12 hours. The endless possibilities of questions. Id learn the whole life story of the guy. 😂
There are no words for the stupidity of not recovering the watch and everything else before the ship finally collapses and the objects are finally destroyed.
@@Garsons-oq4lh These were just objects in the debris field, many of them damaged.....there are so many more delicate things in the cargo room, the 1st class cabins, all of this is rotting away and will be lost forever when the ship collapses finally.
If someone has the technical capability to remove it, they will. Grabbing that clock and bringing it up to the surface looks like it can just magically be done on social media. In the real world, with robots, it may not be possible. A lot easier for robots to scoop things off of the debris field than it is to pry that clock and the mantel it’s bolted to out of there.
OMG the adverts. They are literally full of the indigenous population of Britain. When you look at advertising now they have mainly box tickers in them. It’s nice to watch programs and know we used to not be gaslight about the ethnic make up of the country.
Winding clocks would likely get messed up if the entire room lifted up, I think, because everything in the back of the clock wouldn’t hang right. It may not have been the flooding that stopped the clock.
At :20, I believe you can clearly see from far away that the clock stopped at 20 past 2. When they try to get closer, the foggy stuff on the glass makes it harder to see.
If everyone would think like Cameron we would have no museums and no libraries. We would not know who were nor what our future would be like. Like it or not James our history must be saved in order for oss to remember. I say we safe everything we can but gentely.
This is where isador and ida Strauss died together when she refused to leave him and stayed by his side and went back to their cabin and died in this very room
" metaphor for the state of the world". Yes. He needs a nap . He ha sworked and been on high alert for too many hour.s which is alos a sort of metaphor for the state of the world in those days.... hmm. 🤔
I bet someone has never been so keen to give a clock a wipe before .
omg yesssss
The lullaby with the clock is just perfect. It captures the sensitive, delicate, nervous feeling so well!

this is absolutley amazing..every item you want to just reach out and touch!

Just because his pocket watch stopped at 220 doesnt mean tge mantle clock matches
His room had been submerged before he went into the water, 98% chance the watch does not match the clock.
Also, there's no proof J. J. Astor was "crushed & soot-covered". The people who found his body & identified him said his body was in pristine condition, apart from some discolouration due to being in the water for so long.

No it doesn't. That cabin was on C deck I believe, it flooded way earlier than Astor found himself in the water.

James Cameron is so passionate about Titanic ❤
That clock is the most beautiful 'art effect' on Titanic..it must be preserved for the future in a museum with that freeze time of the disaster!!!
This clock is the most incredible clock in the world, the titanic wreck is so interesting.

Beautiful clock that is clear.

TheIcelandicPrincess I hope english is your second language, if it’s not, I hope it has greatly improved in the last seven years. Holy shit🤦🏼♀️
I was just about to say here how on earth is the clock still on that fireplace un till 55 secs in n James answers my question it was bolted on, alway wondered that
that clock does have fire gilded bronze decorations on it. I think it is a french "boulle" style clock likely covered in tortoise shell .

To many personal belonging. I feel should remain with them..take photos document as much possible, but leave it there.
Had they been able to get both ROV’s in the Strauss suite at the same time they might have been able to see the hands had one bot shined its light directly at the glass from the side . While the other viewed from head on
"I wish I knew how to quit you!"
MDkid1 I can't see anything to do with that movie without thinking of family guy when the horse walked in on the tent when they had " brokeback mountain from the horses perspective"
Gross
Oh wow this even has the old ads in it too. Brokeback mountain holy s***

I could NEVER do what Tony Robinson does here - I was petrified enough going through just an MRI scan !
There are no words for the stupidity of not recovering the watch and everything else before the ship finally collapses and the objects are finally destroyed.
They've already recovered over 6000 objects from the debris field. Just how much more do YOU want?

It's called equality you racist pos. Gfy
This version had its British adverts (commercials to the Americans). They were just about as interesting as the show.
I would like to see footage of the 2nd and 3rd class rooms. If that is even possible when they are diving
Wow... 6 minutes of ads.....That was worth downloading.
Winding clocks would likely get messed up if the entire room lifted up, I think, because everything in the back of the clock wouldn’t hang right. It may not have been the flooding that stopped the clock.
Baldricks cunning plan to build a submersible
At :20, I believe you can clearly see from far away that the clock stopped at 20 past 2. When they try to get closer, the foggy stuff on the glass makes it harder to see.
The bow had broken off, and heading to the ocean bottom at 2.20.
If only they had used better quality rivets when she was built, it may have stayed afloat.
06.20 lol. Pentium 4, dvd re writer and flat screen monitor. wow, £599!
I am extremely confused about why I am seeing ads when I pay for the ad free experience. Are these seriously built in to the video? Wow 👎

you need to learn better english, somehow.
how fast mph is the sub going down for it to take over 2 hours?
It’s a shame they can’t get the mantle pieces out and that clock! Wow!
What do these guys do if they need to go to the bathroom lol. 12 hours is a long time to hold it!
💯💯❤❤👍👍👏👏👏👏
"That's noon right there at the top" Well you don't say. Also what the fuck why is there an ads lmfao
Who were the Russian guys yelling "Let's go!" in the background?
Survivors said the band did NOT play as Titanic sank. Sounded angry that it was suggested
Half the video is old commercials
WOW i have never seen such long commercials.. hate them
The cook should of fead them boys beens before the dive!
Comment cette horloge a pu rester sur la cheminée alors que le paquebot était à la verticale avant de couler et se fracasser au fond de l'océan ?
Part of me is fascinated by this and part of me thinks that this is slightly disrespectful. I guess it was too soon.
But this wasn't jims last dive. Didn't he go back last year?
E. Chava Rosenbaum what I thought too
He always this is his last trip. I figure it'll be his last trip when they bury him
This is mostly tv commercials.
This is where isador and ida Strauss died together when she refused to leave him and stayed by his side and went back to their cabin and died in this very room
No they didn't die in their cabin. They were seen together on deck and Isidor's body was recovered.
Dude needs to stop being tired and let you film
N 2:30 on all the men pocket watches he would be right
The clock does not say that. The wreck was on its way down to the bottom at that point.
2:20am
I don't think so. The bow was already miles down underwater.
" metaphor for the state of the world". Yes. He needs a nap . He ha sworked and been on high alert for too many hour.s which is alos a sort of metaphor for the state of the world in those days.... hmm. 🤔
Is there a bathroom on the sub?
2 small pee bottles, thats it. Poop has to wait until your topside
Road Weary213 It doesn’t HAVE to wait...I mean...you COULD shit in the sub.
I would hold off eating before going down there.
Its mentioned earlier in the documentary that they are given these pills to seal themselves or stop them from needing to poo obviously medically safe.
Don't mess with Titanic graveyard
Has anyone seen Tommy Robinson titanic adventures where he blames Islamic extremism for the titanic sinking
💯💯❤❤👍👍👏👏👏👏
