One time I was at Disneyland for my birthday, and we rode this, we went to the Ursula scene, and when we were entering the scene, u know how the shell turns towards Ursula, well ours did, but this random empty shell was the other way! And I told my dad, "Whoever is in THAT clam Shell must be a Pretty Poor Unfortunate Soul AmIRight?
I remember getting stuck in the Ursula room I was laughing so hard because Ursula got frozen in the most funnest way and my cousin had to pull me out.

Thanks for sharing. My son just found this video and footage of himself at the 7:15 mark. He just started going on this ride alone recently and he was equal parts scared and excited to be stuck on his favorite ride. I was anxiously waiting near the exit and you can see me towards the end of the video with the star wars hat. Hope you enjoyed your free fast pass!
Yes! He has some autism too and I was worried. He was fine after and kept telling everyone he ran across at the park that "I was stuck on the mermaid ride." Even telling people after we got back a few weeks later. He still can't wait until he goes on the ride again but now he's saying he wants an iphone in case he gets stuck again!

that's really awesome that you got evacuated! being evacuated off if a ride at disney can be fun and nerve racking (I've been evacuated off of Roger rabbits Cartoon Spin 3 or 4 time, Jungle Cruise once, and Alice in Wonderland once).

Fun With Steff YES!!! I will never forget it! I was with my best friend her mom and my mom and my bffs moms jacket fell off the tracks and broke the ride!! My dad and her dad where in the cart behind us on the tower and were so confused when the ride stopped! I was hugging my best friend and we were crying our eyes out! At the end of the night her dad went over there to get the sweater and came back holding it saying "Anybody want a new sweater?" The sweater was white to begin with and changed to black from oil and had holes all over. It was cool walking down though and everybody was okay! Ahhh I will never forget that day 😂😂😂

I was at California adventure on June 4th on Goofy's fly school and he ride shut down when we were on it, but then it started back up a few minutes later, and everybody was already evacuated out of the queue. On June 10th I was there and right when we got into the Under the Sea room of The Little Mermaid ride, the music went out, but everything was still moving. We didn't get evacuated, but I told one of the cast members as soon as we got off.
Also, I was at both parks yesterday for the full day and it seemed like a ton of rides were breaking down all day. We were in line for Peter Pan and it broke down, and a lot of the rides in the Disneyland app kept showing temporarily closed.
I think all of this is probably due to summer heat and power surges.
I got stuck on the fun wheel for like 20 minutes and had to be evacted when we were only like two inches off the platform lol it was even more funny bc i just convinced me friend to ride the swinging ones with me and it just happened to break down hahaha

I've read stories in the past of people being stuck inside Small World for 20 minutes with the soundtrack on then being stuck for another 10 minutes :D
At least with Pirates you might have to wade through 2 or 3 feet of water up to your midsection :D
In response to your first comment, it seems like a long time to evac, and I'm just guessing here, but it appears that each cast member has a specific number of "clamshells" that he/she is assigned to. In this case, the cast member in this video probably had 10-15 clams of people that he was responsible for, for evacuating. Because of this, he had to stop every few steps in strategic locations to ensure everyone behind him was staying on the black and not going into the scenery. The ride broke down near the beginning and realistically would probably have only been a 2min walk had they not stopped so often.
In response to your second comment, Pirates of the Carribbean does actually have places where the cast members do have to wade through the water to push/pull the boats to evacuation positions. But the guests would never have to get wet. They have special portable "bridges" that they put out where guests are able to be unloaded onto evac paths. There are UA-cam videos showing this.
I was referring to the walk back into the park took about five to ten minutes. Another thing they should think bout is Someone like my 81 yr old mother would not be able to walk that distance.

I was evacuated twice on Mr. Toad's on Friday, the first time the ride broke down right when we got into the room with AC and they put us back on when they reset the system, we got stuck again and then decided that the third time is a charm and we actually got through the whole ride that time lol
Don't worry, when I went the Ariel ride broke down and the haunted mansion stopped us for like 10 minutes two times 😖
I got stuck on Ariel once a few years ago, but I was literally on the last part and was almost at the exit room, and I got the Fastpass and used it on Toy Story
It seems "cooler" to stay "under the sea." ;)
I remember going on Soarin' when i was about 10, and in the middle of the ride, they stopped it and got everyone off because someone threw up or something, the staff gave us free fastpasses for the same ride that we could use later on

I once had to get off of California Screamin' because someone brought a selfie stick on it and the whole ride shut down (it sensed the selfie stick sticking outside of the ride and thought it was a person). It took over ten minutes for them to come get us, but we did get fastpasses to it for when they got everything sorted out.
Man this breaks everytime I ride it, I've never had to get off. This so crazy and cool!
One time I rose this and we got stuck in the Ursula room and it didn't get going for about 30
I feel sorry for the cast members this is one of those rides that’s probably so hard to get guests to listen when evacuating

I love this ride so much, but there seems to be a problem every time I ride it. Best case scenario, it slows down briefly. Sometimes it comes to a stop completely, or goes slowly for quite a long time. I've had the lights turn on before once, but I never got to walk around it! So cool! The closest I've gotten to that is on Pirates of the caribbean, near the canonball area after the fall (i got splashed a lot) the ride stopped, lights turned on, sound turned off, all that slowly over 15 or 20 minutes. Then it started back up. Wish I could've walked around it, though.

I had once been evacuted for no reason, I lost my family for 50 minutes, as there was a slide breakdown and I was alone on it 😭
I got stuck at the Kiss the Girl once while riding the one at Magic Kingdom but only for a few minutes before the ride started moving again. I think a friend of mine got stuck at Ariel's transformation sequence another time lol.

Just Imagine Agree. Though it's interesting to see it with the lights on some of the little kids were scared. I hope they move people out faster if there was a fire.
Just Imagine Usually during a fire the ride is not stopped. It's cycled through until everyone is off the ride. It takes so much time because CMs have to manually release every lap bar and there aren't enough CMs for every lap bar to be manually released. SO that's why the ride isn't stopped during a fire because people would be stuck in a burning attraction. Disney does things like this for a reason they aren't stupid.
At 0:24 the voice that said that to wait until the employees revamp the ride kinda freaked me out.
I had something like that happen to me on the Harry Potter ride at Universal Studios in Orlando (except that we didn't evacuate), there was something wrong with the carts or whatever, and it was fine. Then like 4 mins in the ride, and the screen froze and the cart stopped, we had to get off and we got a free pass to any ride, so we used it on the Despicable Me ride.

I was very lil when I went on this but I remember Ursala was malfunctioning. This was when I was around 9-12 or even younger....I am a 2004 baby. But I remember Ursulas movements weren't very good. And then we were asked to stay seated a bit the 3rd time I went on. And then we were asked to leave due to them needing to close the ride.

When you are evacuated for a ride, you get a fastpass for any ride at disneyland or california adventure that has fastpass. Except for guardians of the galaxy, which i imagine will be available for evacuation fastpasses once the "newness" wears off.
