Thanks for the video. I just installed the system and had the same issue you talked about with the touchscreen not working. Contacted support. Thanks again.
I found that the updates they keep on providing (via firmware) continue to work out any kinks or bugs I have seen. Hope it was the same for you. Sorry I never replied to this comment before.
It is. Depending on where you are in the world they are stocked by Halfords in the UK. I think the maker is called Scott or something similar. I have the same one and it works great.
Thanks for putting this video together. So listening to radio you can use the oe quadrant menu. Does the UAD allow forward/back buttons on steering wheel in music? I wish they had an on/off switch so you could use oe nav when you lose phone signal in remote areas
It does not allow for the advanced or previous buttons on steering wheel to work unless you are using it wirelessly (which you could do), but then lost navigation audio over music as that only will work over the aux audio signal.
Great video. Thinking about installing this on my 2014 F-Type. How is the audio quality via the Aux port? I'm used to Bluetooth streaming from my iphone most of the time, so I know that's digital vs analog, but then again it's wireless vs wired.
I know this is an old reply but for you or anyone still wondering about this: I find that the audio quality has noticeable improved! With all of my Android smartphones I've never been able to use any of the HD audio bluetooth codecs because the car doesn't seem to support it. With this retrofit system I noticed music sounded clearer and when I checked I saw it automatically enabled the HD audio codec. 2017 F with the Meridian 880W sound system.
I am just seeing these comments now, almost a year later, but agree. As they have continued to provide updates, the sound quality continues to improve as well.
Auto developments only list 3 versions of this for the F Type 1. 2013-2017 Bosch system 2. 2015-2017 Harmon system 3. 2017-2018 Harmon system (facelift car) LR Retrofits do the 10 inch InControl upgrade for the facelifts so number 3 is redundant in my opinion. You mentioned bosch had 2 versions but this website only shows 1. My main question is how do you know which system you have before you purchase the car and how is responsiveness between the Bosch and Harmon systems?
For radio, BT or other audio inputs it works the same, but for CarPlay audio, it only will play while hardwired through Aux although you have the option to use it through wireless Bluetooth, but lose voice over navigation with this activated.
Do the audio settings of the unique unit overwrite the OEM (Meridian) settings? (Stuff like balans/fader/bass/treble etc.) and does the USB connection to the unique unit charge a iPhone faster than the OEM USB port (very slow)
Silberpfeil yes the audio settings override while on Apple CarPlay but not the OEM. So for instance. Wouldn’t affect the radio. USB charges but not sure any faster.
sam cas I see what you are saying now. No. If you have your settings for Meridian set and change over to the Apple CarPlay unit it keeps those settings.
Yes, this system completely replaces the factory navigation. Keep in mind, this also works wirelessly, so you do not need to connect your phone each time if you set it up that way.
Also left a comment on Ftype forum. Thanks for review and I’ve been hoping to see something like this. Any surprises with the system that you don’t like? Also I see your magnetic phone holder to the right. I have a taller one plugged into the lighter socket. How did you install yours? I have a small intention I guess you could put a few counts in where yours is located.
Ed Wyatt no surprises on the audio at all. Sounds great. As for the overall system. I had some issues at first with the install but the company UAD did a great job of helping me through it. As for the phone holder. It’s held in with some epoxy into the empty switch area as I have a Coupe and no convertible top button.
@@damiantheoharidis4238 I have had this happen twice to me over the course of the last year. I just recently (January) ran their latest firmware update. I didn't realize how many updates they've continued to put out. I haven't driven it much recently, but seeing as it rebooted so infrequently, hard to say if this update would help or not. I will say however UAD has been absolutely amazing to work with.

Cool 😍
Love the video. Thanks. Is that square with a squiggly lines a magnetic car phone holder/charger? I need that!!

Hi, thanks for the video. I am very interested in installing the system myself. Did you disconnect the battery beforehand? Or just plug and play?
Shin Takeda plug and play
Hi, does your rear camera still work when you select reverse? Or do you have to revert back to oem screen for camera to work.
Al Mac yes it still works and this system also allows you to use a 3rd party camera for rear or a front facing camera too.
You said the sound goes through aux. What happens if you don't select aux as the sound input? Is there no sound coming through the radio at all?

Oh great question mate, so you’ll lose all the meridian surround sound settings too, I wonder how the carplay sw audio sounds in comparison
sam cas I see what you are saying now. No. If you have your settings for Meridian set and change over to the Apple CarPlay unit it keeps those settings.
I will have to try it, I don't know, but great question.
Is that a bigger screen as well. I have a 2016 and it looks smaller.
It uses the factory screen.
If you don't connect a phone to the infotainment system do you not get navigation at all?
Yes, this system completely replaces the factory navigation. Keep in mind, this also works wirelessly, so you do not need to connect your phone each time if you set it up that way.
Does the screen mirroring work with both iphone and android?
Yes it does.

Did you have your buy any extras like cables or microphones?
it came with almost everything needed. I did add a USB extension cable and a noise filter.
What audio filter did you get?
Did you have any issues with the iPhone screen mirroring feature. My screen just goes black and I can’t go back to car play.
Sorry just saw these comments. I did not have any issues with this on my system

Ok how can I install ? Lol
Depends on the year of your car and current setup. There is a Bosch and Harman version. Check out their website to determine the right options.
