Great compliation of shots from a neat switching operation. If the rumors are true that 2285 will be sold of at some point, I'll miss that engine, though I can't wait for 1195 to start pulling trains again through Niles Canyon, hopefully some day in Scarlet and Lark Gray.
+TFN5459 Thank you! I heard that the 2285 made its final run last month (July 2015), though I haven't heard anything regarding the future of the unit. As for 1195, it is fully operational as far as I know, and awaiting SP paint. Thanks for viewing!
+AlwaysTrainsHD I think as a condition for acquiring 2015 either they have to scrap or sell the 2285 out of state (or some weird ambiguous clause like that) and so I'm hoping a museum or shortline like the Oregon Pacific is its next destination and not the scrapers torch
I am a UK train driver, commuter electric units so i don't encounter anything like this myself, infact industrial systems that serve multiple bussinesses have all but gone in the UK. Some large steel, chemical & other plants still have internal rail systems and occaisionally a co-operative company will organise an enthusiast day, usually with a visiting steam locomotive. All the various lines of this system would be a great place to turn over to a steam locomotive for a day. perhaps even give rides in brake vans (i think you call them a caboose !) around the system.
+Ian Virco We already do have railroads that operate steam engines. Museum railroads like the Niles Canyon Railway, the Golden Gate Railroad Museum, and the California Western run steam excursions on a fairly regular basis in the spring and summer. We do have cabooses as well on such museum railroads, which can be rented for rides. Unfortunately however, industrial railroads like the Richmond Pacific are too busy to have steam engines running around. I do hope to visit the UK someday though, and when I do, I would be very much interested in following a few steam excursions.
+AlwaysTrainsHD I know about museum railroads or as we know them in the UK preserved railways, we have 201 of them !! I am also a member of a group who have preserved a 1960's main line passenger diesel locomotive, Class 45 number 133, all 2500hp & 136 UK tons of it !! due to our countries railway legislation it is confined to hertitage lines & sadly can't ventures onto a mainline route. In the UK special events at works railway systems involve a visiting steam loco taking over the duties of a resident diesel loco for the day, the diesel remaining on standby incase things don't work out perfectly, This Richmond Pacific system would be a marvalous venue for a steam shunting ( switcher ) loco to do one the shunting (switching) turns vice a resident diesel for a day.
+Ian Virco Sounds to me like the legislation is very similar there. Unfortunately though, our railroads can't simply hand over job duties to a steam engine. I'm afraid it just doesn't work that way, as great of a venue as it may be. In the early 90's, the Union Pacific (UP) assigned the 3985 (4-6-6-4 challenger) to haul freight trains for TV promotions. It's a different landscape now. All they do now is haul special passenger trains every once in a while. There would be an endless line of hoops to jump through and a lot of politics to clear before any steam engine could start doing the kind of work seen in the video. Maybe someday, but unfortunately not today.

Not sure about kitchen and bathroom, but certainly as a mobile office. I know they keep their paperwork in there most of the time, though I've never seen the inside.
+spcabforward Thanks! 85's gyralight works in the sense that it illuminates, but the motor that makes it gyrate has been broken for quite some time. So it works partially. While 85 made its last service run in 2015, the rumor is that the RPRC saved the bell, horn, and light package off the unit. Thanks for viewing!
That is extraordinary.
Handsome railroad colors there never seen RPC before.
Good work. Very nice photography.
Thanks Hank.
Sweetness! Great roundup of the RPRC. Looks like it's movie night tonight!
Jonathan Izen Thanks! I find train videos to be perfect when watched with a soda of choice and some Reeses, but that's just me.

What a great catch I will have to film this some day!!
Got an interview with these guys tomorrow hoping I get the job
Hope it works out!
The k5LA on 423 is so Quality 👌🏾
Alex Robison Got that right! It's always nice to see them pull it out. Thanks for viewing!
Does the Richmond Pacific Railroad have radio frequencies or is it a Railroad that doesn't share its radio frequencies
HERMOSA LA EMD DE COLOR AZUL Y NEGRO-423.

AlwaysTrainsHD No te preocupes, se entiende perfectamente saludos desde Argentina.
where are they located
Do they use the caboose for bathroom and kitchen facilities?

Will buy note heartland bank foreclosure if trackage rights 1991 with international shipping rail rights fifty years
Very nice video. Is this in Richmond, CA ?
Thanks. It is indeed Richmond, the namesake town for the small switching railroad
Thank You for your reply.
Great Video, looks like a fun short line to watch. Is that Gyralite on that ex SP SW1200 work?
