i love this content format of talking about random shit that's common in games. it's such a weird idea but it's so entertaining and has so much potential for videos. you've talked about minorities in games, durability in games, trains in games, shields in games, and now dogs. I hope you enjoy making these videos because i'm keen to see more of them
SQUEAKY! Agreed. Games are the history around us, in a way! Lots of creation is arguably reflective of our lifestyles or societies around us, so it's always an interesting time for me.
There a was a comment from I think a Daggerfall video that said "My favorite UA-cam videl genre is nerds talking about nerd shit." And they're pretty right
Fun fact: At the time of this upload, a day ago during Awesome Games Done Quick 2024, there was a speedrun of the NES game Gyromite that was performed entirely by a dog named Peanut Butter who was taught to press one of two buttons when his owner held a treat over one. More proof that video games and dogs are the perfect combo.
There's something ironic about how dog-like Koraidon/Miraidon are in Pokemon Scarlet/Violet but it was the previous Gen games that had two Legendaries who are actual dogs that you could barely interact with
I have a wholesome explanation for TOTK Wolf Link. In BOTW, in addition to fighting monsters, he also hunts other animals, so I firmly believe that in TOTK, he's just giving us the spoils from his hunting trips.
It’s a morbid but funny explanation as to why you summon piles of meat instead of the actual living wolf link, so the whole “Nintendo killed wolf link” is technically a joke/meme
I'm also allergic to dogs, but I still pet them and stuff. Whenever I go to a freind's house who all have huge fucking dogs, it's basically becomes a slow DOT until my eyes and nose get super irritated. Also, the thing that causes allergies the most isn't dander. It's fluids. Saliva being the big one. So you can get trigger alleries from a "Hypoallergenic" dog.
As far as i remember Wargroove Lore, Caesar doesn`t really have a strategy. He is the protagonists loyal companion and best friend and his campaign missions are a bit of a running gag that goes like this: Caesar instinctively wanders off and finds a group of thugs. Thugs feel threatened by him and start a battle. Caesars bodyguards interpret his barks as the situation calls for. Thugs get defeated and run off, day is saved. Protagonist arrives and asks him what he is been up to, the good deed goes unnoticed. Also his arcade mode ends with him destroying the artifact of doom in Wargroove, because dogs are incorruptible.
my favourite video game dog of all time has to be Ramlethal’s dog from Guilty Gear Strive and Xrd because it taught her that every creature is unique and has inherent value, which convinces her not to be an antagonist anymore. unfortunately it only shows up in the story mode and when she wins a round in Strive but it’s still insane and very funny to me that some normal ass dog completely changed her perspective on life. i should note though, the dog doesn’t speak/literally teach her this, it gets killed and recreated by someone but Ram can still recognise that it’s different from her actual (now dead) dog and mourns it, finally experiencing emotions for the first time (or second? she ate a burger and that also changed her life). god i love guilty gear.
I gotta admit I got misty eyed talking to Scratch in the party at the end of Baldur’s Gate 3. My boy always brought me random junk and took care of the Owlbear like a big brother.
One of my favorite video game dogs is Pots from Jet Set Radio. He's an inline skating dog who acts as a secret playable character in both games. He looks like a silly squeaky toy when you play as him.
Shoutout to Okami for giving you the most quintessential dog abilities. You can dig holes everywhere, bark at people, bite people, start fashion trends, and do the tango. Special mention to the two unlockable combat abilities, golden rage and brown fury. I'll let you piece together what those do.
With all the harrowing, traumatic, sometimes intensely violent things that your character goes through in Baldur's Gate 3, it's really nice sometimes to just go back to camp and give Scratch some scritches. He's basically a therapy dog. If you cast Speak with Animals or drink a potion for it, you can talk to Scratch, and he'll call you his friend! You can throw a ball for Scratch to fetch! You can throw a ball at Astarion for Scratch to fetch and for you to giggle mischievously over! Sometimes Scratch will find random junk and give it to you, like valuable gems, potions, or sometimes a rotten cheese wedge he dug up. You can kill Scratch! Don't do that, that's terrible! You can make him mad when you talk to him the first time, and then he'll try to kill you! Reload that save, that's terrible! You can summon him to join you on your adventures, but I don't do that, because I'm afraid he'll get hurt and I won't be able to revivify him and that would be *terrible!* I've played one of the most cruel, morally depraved, unfeeling Tavs out there (Minthara made me do it), and even she adopted Scratch! The Sword Coast can burn for all I care if it means best boy can get a new squeaky toy.
extra dogs I also love in Legend of Heroes: Zeit the police dog, most noble dog with an attitude that pulls the main party out of trouble many times over. Cerberus the cute pupper that also helps Jingo manage the Neinvalli Exchange market, even sometimes lets you interact with him instead to shop (and is also being taught how to fly an aircraft, legitimacy of that remains in doubt). The Albion Wolf art, because sometimes you just need to summon a magical wolf to nuke your enemies to oblivion.
The only Dogs are Foe that i can recall being regular dog shaped are from Earthbound. In beginnings there's the creatively named Dog, Earthbound has the Runaway Dog and Mother 3 has the Muttshroom, the Chilly Dog, and the last one doesn't count but it's still arguably a dog, the K-9000
As someone who worked in the doggy daycare industry, I am surprised that the Husky is not screaming its face off and being overly dramatic for no reason.
This is why I love this channel so much you don't give a fuck bro you make whatever you want and I would be watching 10 fuckin hours of you talking about anything I'm feasting tf out rn
I love Scratch in Baldurs Gate as he's both ticks the dog as companion (if you summon him) and dog with job (he finds stuff in the world for you even if you leave him at camp). You can also not only pet him, but also play fetch and talk with him like a person using a beast speech spell or potion.
19:00 First time seeing this. No lies found. That squeaky man is DEAD. Favorite dog is the Spectral Wolf starter in Monster Sanctuary. He's an icy-wind 'Friend's best man' type as he's your main guide since you're a silent protag.
in games where your dog companion can fight they always have spin attacks, even goofy in kingdom hearts mostly attacks by spinning with his shield held out
The Meow Wow from Kingdom Hearts 3D is sort of a mix of a cat and a dog but for thr most part it is very dog-like in how it acts, even jumping up and licking you when you pet it enough. And its all squeaky when it rolls around. There is also Dran, a giant flying dog god in Dark Cloud. First major boss fight in the game but after that he's friendly (As for robot dogs, I agree, science has gone too far! ...except for the Aibo that sony makes, they can stay)
Riona has incredible arm strength, she's flex arm hanging for like five full minutes during an invasion segment, that dog is nothing for her training regiment
"GRAHHH i am NOT explaining what a dog is! You already know what a dog is!!" --Captain Astronaut, directly following a one minute explanation of what a dog is that I skipped because I already know what a dog is
Dogs. Dogs are entertaining creatures. My favorite video game "dog" is the Chain Chomp. My fascination with him started in Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, where he is the special item for Baby Mario and Baby Luigi. 15 years later, Chain Chomp would make his first playable appearance in Mario Tennis Aces; he is one of my mains. Other doggos that I like are Tails, Poochy, Lucario, Isabelle, the Duck Hunt dog, Wolf O'Donnell, Fox McCloud, Krystal, Arcanine, Ninetales, Vulpix, and KK Slider. Fun stuff, Astronaut.
Honestly I know it's not revealed that Torgal is not a normal dog until well into FFXVI but we should have all known that he was special the moment he got Benedikta by the neck, span around it like she was a lamp post and then just plain YEETED her, like bro pulled the canine 360° and that was the instant he became the best doggo in recent gaming to me. Not quite Amaterasu tiers of peak doggery, but close. Also, it's kinda a shame you didn't mention Barkley in Cassette Beasts. Like, you've got several interesting and unique party members all with character arcs and signature monster tapes, and then also a Pomeranian that turns into a bigger Pomeranian with ice powers, he has zero actual dialogue other than typical dog noises and I LOVE HIM.
Surprised that this video about dogs in video games didn't even touch upon Dog's Life, a very weird PS2 game where you play as a dog (an American Foxhound named Jake) and you have to rescue a Labrador named Daisy who got taken by dog catchers. I played it way too much as a kid so it's a firm favourite "bad" game.
Squeaky clean video as always! My cousin and I tried Jet Force Gemini for the first time on NSO, and the multiplayer death match let's you play as a guy, girl or dog. My cuz won by default because I refused to shoot the dog...
I watched this video while playing tug of war with my dog. Her head shot up with that intent “I’m searching for shit” look when she heard the squeaky sound at the end. Good dog, good video, imo

I second this. My brains thinks these things and I’m glad it’s put out somewhere for me to view
Big agree, this is the premise of the UA-cam content I would make…if I made UA-cam’s.
surprised he hasn't made a video about helmets or hats
There a was a comment from I think a Daggerfall video that said "My favorite UA-cam videl genre is nerds talking about nerd shit." And they're pretty right

Impressive! I can't even train myself to finish and beat Battle Toads on NES. It's been 24 years and I still can't beat the hover bike lvl 🤣😅😭
so the dog was basically filling in for rob? thats amazing
There's something ironic about how dog-like Koraidon/Miraidon are in Pokemon Scarlet/Violet but it was the previous Gen games that had two Legendaries who are actual dogs that you could barely interact with

Exactly I don't know why everyone assumes he got butchered
It’s a morbid but funny explanation as to why you summon piles of meat instead of the actual living wolf link, so the whole “Nintendo killed wolf link” is technically a joke/meme
I'm allergic to dogs so video game dogs is the closest I can get to interacting with dogs :)
Technically, you could still interact with dogs… but you would feel awful in the process (and might die lol)
I'm also allergic to dogs, but I still pet them and stuff. Whenever I go to a freind's house who all have huge fucking dogs, it's basically becomes a slow DOT until my eyes and nose get super irritated.

They should make hairless dogs 🤔
@@antonberkbigler5759 That wouldn't really help unfortunately. Drool and other body fluids is one of the biggest factors for allergies.
@@MythicMachina They should make fleshless dogs then. Bone doggos.
Your dog clearly loves being picked up 🤣 … such a cutie
This guy is very funny, has clever writing, has a strong personal brand and loves dogs. Subscription earned.
I really loved all the monster hunter dog names.
As far as i remember Wargroove Lore, Caesar doesn`t really have a strategy. He is the protagonists loyal companion and best friend and his campaign missions are a bit of a running gag that goes like this:

This channel feels like it should have a few million subscribers. You have the personality and charm for it.
HONEY WAKE UP, CAPTAIN ASTRONAUT JUST POSTED!!!
As an Alaskan, yes they should give the other sled dogs more recognition. All of them are heroes. Rest in peace dogs ya earned it. 🫡

Shoutout to Okami for giving you the most quintessential dog abilities. You can dig holes everywhere, bark at people, bite people, start fashion trends, and do the tango. Special mention to the two unlockable combat abilities, golden rage and brown fury. I'll let you piece together what those do.

My favourite videogame dog has got to be Hewie from Haunting Ground. He is best boy. Also SQUEAKY.
My real life dog is a black goldendoodle, I wish there were more dogs like that in video games. Also the brush Ammy uses is actually her tail!
Dog are like PEAK animal design. When god makes universe 2 the dog should get a no changes. Also like squeaky or whatever
Ragnarok from Valkyria Chronicles 4 is a dog who is so good at his job that an army gets morale from it
Quick note on totk you can pet dogs by selecting ultra hand pressing L and just petting the dog
We cannot forget about the Hellhounds from Cod Zombies. Those rounds always gave me nightmares as a kid 🥰
Oatchi is like huh? in most of his renders.
the mh rise dog nicknames earned you the biggest like from me that was pure gold
extra dogs I also love in Legend of Heroes:

Blaidd from Edlen Ring: tall, good boy.
Brad Fang from Contra Hard Corps.
Cornell from various Castlevania games.
Alad V and Zanuka has gotta be one of my favourite examples of Dog as Foe.
Missile and Cerberus and indeed best dogs

Now that I get a wider perspective, it’s crazy just how many games have dogs in them.
5:22 Amaterasu's Golden Fury comes to mind
Man's best friend gotta be in every video game because the only way to reach a ten out of ten rating is if you can pet the dog

Shocked that the Transistor dogs weren't mentioned! They bark at squeaky things!
You forgot the greatest dog of all time: Miriel the pastor of vows from elden ring
Sqeaky! I loved The Sims Pets games coz you could basically drip out your dog

Koromaru from Persona is my best boy in 1st place while Repede is 2nd place.

You forgot the Mabari from Dragon Age, Scratch the dog from Baldur’s Gate 3 and Muggshot from Sly Cooper.
overjoyed to see missile in this. i just played ghost trick (at long last) and he's a 10/10 dog
"Are chihuahuas dogs?" is *WILD*
And sometimes you turn into a dog like in Kid Icarus: Uprising
Your mabari in dragon age origins and 2, that's just a regular dog!
(Mostly, he's of an in-universe breed of warhound that was bred to be exceptionally intelligent and understand speech perfectly.
But he's still such a friendly boy and is always willing to play fetch with you*, find unique items*, and fight alongside you)

One of my very few complaints with season 2 of the Telltale Walking Dead series is that they make it LOOK like you're going to get a sweet dog companion, only for it to turn on you and force you to kill it horribly. Curse you, realism of a post-apocalyptic scenario! I get that it's in service of the story, and makes sense with the world you created, but I wanted my dog friend, dangit!

What a lovely video (though my dog did fall asleep during it lol)
Kinda sad that monster hunter wild doesn't seem like it'll have palamutes but maybe they'll add them in some other capacity (like maybe you can get two doggos to follow behind you and they let you carry an additional item each as well as have some more storage for gathering)

And yes you can pet sommie, so you can’t do any jabs at engage this time.
