- www.premierguit... Premier Guitar's Tessa Jeffers is on location in Nashville, Tennessee, at the End where she catches up with Middle Class Rut guitarist Zack Lopez who demos his "simplified" rig which is built upon a tonal foundation made up of a Gibson Les Paul Jr. and a Orange Rockerverb, which he manipulates and colors with a healthy pedalboard.
MCR is great. Great songwriting with tons of feel. Reminds me of Sublime. Moreover, how does he play his guitar so low!
Relaxed, informative and super enjoyable. Well done team!
Such an underrated band….everyone I’ve shown Aunt Betty to ends up loving them. So much atmosphere it’s ridiculous to think it’s only two people in the band.
Crazy to hear all that info. Thanks for posting this interview! Been diggin' their sound ever since I saw them open for AiC on the Black Gives Way To Blue tour. Stoked to see 'em again on the 22nd.
These rig rundowns are great not just for showing what people use but for introducing someone like me to a bunch of artists I really never heard of before. They may not shift albums in Adele like quantities or get played on mainstream radio but its good to know that you can have a career as a musician despite that...
Great interview from you guys as always and Tessa did a great job!
Tessa knows the differences between a wah and whammy, but she asked Zack the question because most guitarists generally prefer to use a wah for soloing, but a few guys like Morello and Lopez choose the whammy because they make a cognitive choice when crafting their sound. Zack seemed to understand where she was coming from and explained that he prefers the whammy for its pitch-shifting capabilities and because a wah can be transparent and hard to engage.
Thanks for watching,

It was a good review. She did a great job kind of poking for answers that the viewers wanted to know. He was cool about all of it too.
Pretty cool sounds, maybe I need to go out further in the sonic spectrum. Good interview.
Great interview and what a crazy rig!
great tones!!
please do a rig rundown with alter bridge
Those are Zack's words when describing his love for the Whammy and why he personally never got into the wah pedal.
what an inovator!
good interview
Good job honey. Don't listen to the haters.
Good vid. Nice guy. Good interview. Nice.
My thoughts as well. I got it, and so did Zach so hey.
awesome!
Guys you have to do a Tame Impala rig rundown
I really like this one. It really gets into the guts
Tessa, while not Rebbeca, seems ok in my books. KEEP EM COMING!
FINALLY! thank you!!!
Please do my bloody valentine
Rebecca was really pretty, and did a good job, this girl is an excellent replacement if that is the case, I think she is awesome too ! good choice PG ! ! and thanks for the Vidya's ! Love em ! ! ! ! ! !
Great!
Very cool interview. Zack is a super cool guy and love his guitars.
Gotta give Tessa a break about the whammy/wah comment. She is new :)
Welcome!
05:08 "Control Iraqi effects unit???"
Rebecca Dirks where are you
I like Tessa! Good shit.
I have never tried a Wah or Whammy pedal personally ( I've only largely heard them in songs and guitarists like Slash, Morello, Matt Bellamy, Jonny Greenwood, ect) but what do you mean when you said the Wah can be transparent and hard to engage?
This guy is cool as shit. I would've never known who they are. I'm listening to them now on Google Music and they are great.
Dudes cool.
He creates some insane sounding guitar effects. But my god, a pedal board that over the top would give me a migraine!
It's actually a pretty bare set-up. I wish I could think of someone off the top of my head to have you check out, but there are a lot of guitarists with some pretty elaborate set-ups with some really off-the-wall pedals. However, I think he makes good use out of what he has.
Rebecca will be greatly missed, but Tessa is doing a good job!
17:50 he says "the open is on the 9th"--- what does that mean?
jfowler88 in standard tuning, the 7th fret of the A string is an E note. So he's talking about when he tunes the E string up a whole step to F#, the 9th fret of the A string becomes the "E". So both the open 6th string (F#) and 9th fret on the a string are F#. Not too sure if I'm explaining correctly haha!
I think it's hilarious that we guitar nerds are all up and arms about Premier Guitar's internal staffing decisions.
Rebebba Dirks is gone! Oh noes!!!
The headstock angle on that Gibson....jesus
"yeah yeah"
You too?
Where's Rebecca dirks!
Good Job tessa, but i miss my becca
Rebecca is gone something happened don't know what. : (
She's hot, also my dream rig.
Spontaneous Human Combustion. Sad really, it was a preexisting condition under control with help from prescribed medication and some counseling, but Vernon Reid's guitar rig was so complicated she fucking exploded, dude...
Someone get me back Rebecca
Also that G always out of tune thing is so true with Gibsons. Still the best guitars though
She's left PG.
She's hotter than Rebecca!
She is caliente!
Dude sounds like Korn. Lame.
