  • Recently been getting into a peavey 400 series kick, they are great sounding and loud!!!!
but all the gear in my amp setup is from around 1980? Yes there are some new speakers and components here and there but for the most part weve gone vintage.........
    and it sounds killer!!

I have that same 400 Peavey amp, mine was made in November, 1977. It's nasty in all the right ways. And it's loud- that 210 watts is what I call "1970's watts" which are louder than modern watts- beyond brutal when matched with a 210+115. It's the one amp I'll never part with. And the fuzz and distortion is built in, so you can get some serious gnarly tones out of it without any pedals

I have this amp with two 15 black widow 1502-4 DT 4ohm and the sound is just crushing! both speakers unlike yours are in two separate cabs and geez they are real boat anchors but god I love em. there is something about vintage gear and the story they tell always turned me on to it I know modern stuff is just as good less maintenance blah blah I get it and their right on all points but one thing and to me the most important! It’s that new tech don’t have the smells and sweat of hundreds of gigs on it and all the road story’s of all the players that came and gone on them that’s means something and it comes through in the music I don’t care what anybody says anyway sorry for getting carried away ❤this video

The stories are definitely a cool part of it! I got mine from a guy whose dad built the matching 215 with BWs. This thing is so mean, I just like listening to it tbh. This video is great!

I've had this amp for two weeks, its amazing! clean and punchy! I use the normal channel with an old Peavey 810 from the 70s. I think it's the best bass sound I've ever had !

Andy, So I had picked up this exact Peavey 400 amp a couple months ago and right after I did I searched youtube for some video's on it and your's popped up first.
At the time I didnt have a cab for it, after watching your video 10 seconds after you ripped into it I was like...I NEED THAT CAB!! I found a Peavey 215 from 1978 online like the one shown here and ordered it. Tonight was the first time plugging in the same amp and cab and I have to say.....OMG!...this thing RIPP'S! Clean or the Distortion side it will damn near melt your face off if you turn it up above 4, like you said dont let the wattage rating fool you at all.
Thanks for the vintage Peavey review, this can definitely DOOM and get a good clean tone as well. Glad I checked out your video before I decided on a cab, this vintage Peavey is a steal! Cheers!

It would be interesting to see and hear different settings and channels of the amp.

My 400 series was 200w but like that’s clearly a very reserved estimate as it’s Loud as hell into a 215/810 I’ve sold this one since still have a mk3 tho

These are incredibly simple designs with the schematics easily available online, any competent amp tech should be able to fix it up cheap.
