I love rufus in this movie. I love even though he's technically dying and in a wheelchair, he's trolling kadaj the entire time. He's got kadaj and crew searching for jenova all over the place, and none of them are aware shes literally right next to them. And his line, "a good son would've known." Is the the best slap in the face line. Sephiroth isn't in the movie a whole lot, but i love how his presence can be felt and seen throughout it. And he steals the show when he does officially return. I know the movie gets a lot of flack for its dub, but i never really had a problem with it. I think it's servicable. I love sephiroth's performance, though. I love how every time he speaks, he sounds cold and calculting but also vicious. Like every word he speaks is meant to cut you. I still love this movie all these years later.
Every time he radiates a blue mako energy he's doing a limit break ability. When he defeats sephiroth its their version of Cloud's limit break Omnislash.
I think she was confused about the swords coming out of nowhere. There are six detachable blades that he combines to make the new buster sword that's the weapons that you saw floating in the air that are blue when he swung it released the other five of them and he gathered them while slashing sephiroth Anyone confused about the three silver haired guys they each represent sephiroth's will and their his physical manifestations. with Genova sells the leader is able to turn into sephiroth or a version of him from the LifeStream I suppose. Basically he's a part of the lifestream and so is arieth... Never truly gone but never truly there either
The water under the church, and the rain shower that healed everyone's Geostigma was Aerith using her level 4 Limit Break "Great Gospel" from the lifestream.
The pink ribbons on their arms are in memory of Aerith. And it's not just Cloud and Tifa, every one of the crew wears one. And notice Marlene now wears her hair just like Aerith, complete with the pink bow.
Although it can be convoluted, i absolutely love this movie for how it subtly is consistent with the rest of clouds story. He had not fully processed aerith and zacks death in the og game when regaining himself and his memories. And suffered from extreme survivors guilt. So this movie was about with support from his most precious people both alive and dead, finding the strength to put the past behind him and move on with his family in tifa and denzel (and occasionally Marlene)
Regarding Denzel, there is an anime in that Blu ray you showed, it's called "The case of Denzel", where basically Denzel tells his story to Reeve on Jhonny's Bar and how Denzel story is linked to events on the game, like for example, the fall of sector 7 plate and how he ended up living with Tifa, Cloud and Marlene. In the movie, when Cloud has that aura around him, that's because he is using or about to use a Limit Break, he uses most of the ones from the game except Meteorain and Cross Slash. If I remember correctly the ones he uses are: - Blade Beam against Loz on the Forest near the Forgotten Capital. - Braver against Bahamut Sin (The one Kadaj summons). - Climhazzard to finish off Bahamut Sin. - Finishing Touch against Kadaj. - Blade Beam against Sephiroth, it got difused and actually missed Sephiroth but hit a wall. - Omnislash against Sephiroth, but since Sephiroth has already seen it, he dodges all attacks and manage to stab Cloud on the air. - Omnislash V5 used to finish off Sephiroth, this is the version used on the original release of Advent Children. - Omnislash V6 used to finish off Sephiroth, this is the version shown in Advent Children Complete. You could argue that, when Cloud is fighting Sephiroth on the fallen debri from Shinra Building, he is trying to use Cross-slash but Sephiroth basically is blocking every hit with his own Limit Break Octaslash. Other characters also use their Limit Breaks. For example, Tifa uses Beat Rush, Somersault, Waterkick and Meteor Strike against Loz on the Church. Barret uses Big Shot and Agermax against Bahamut Sin . Red XIII uses Sled Fang and Blood Fang against Bahamut Sin. Cid uses Boost Jump and Hyper Jump mainly to Bahamut Sin's head. No main character from OG FF7 in the movie is using Materia, only Kadaj, Loz and Yazoo, which was stolen from Cloud. Yuffie somehow managed to get it back from them, except the ones they already have equiped, before she boarded The Sheera (Cid's airship). While Vincent does give a very basic description of what Geostigma is, the movie doesn't fully explain how someone gets to have that disease and that's because, in universe, no one really knows. The anime "The Case of Denzel" gives some hints. Basically, the person has to be mentally depressed or similar and have a weak immune system at the moment. You can touch someone with Geostigma and not get infected, and even, not being in contact with anyone having the Geostigma and still get infected. So the movie is kind of vague about it. The wolf is supposed to be the representation of the guilt and loneliness that Cloud is having during the movie, a sort of representation of the state of his soul. Cloud is fatally shot by Yazoo and that's why he does that last ditch effort attack at them while Loz and Yazoo basically do a Kamikaze attack blowing themselves up, they are basically disappearing. So, Cloud does "die" but is returned to life by Aerith, she is the one that told the kids to go to the Church to wait for him. Remember, the Moogle girl has never met Cloud or heard his name during the movie, and she literaly mentions that "She" told them to wait Cloud there. Vincent asks where he can buy a phone because, when Cloud asked him if sins can be forgiven and Vincent said that he hasn't tried that, Cloud tells him that he will try and phone him the results. If you played Crisis Core Reunion, then the voices of the characters won't match the ones in this movie, they are meant to match the ones on Final Fantasy VII Remake and Rebirth...only in the English version, in Japanese, they are the same in Crisis Core Reunion, Advent Children Complete and Final Fantasy VII Remake and Rebirth....except perhaps Marlene's, they changed her voice actress from Advent Children to Advent Children complete...I think, sounds different in Japanese. Yeah, the Buster Sword in Advent Children Complete is different from the one in Crisis Core Reunion, but is the same in Crisis Core for PSP, it was changed in Crisis Core Reunion to match the one shown in Final Fantasy VII Remake and Rebirth.

so the phone falling in the water i like that aerith responds to it. as its the same lake that cloud buried her in. call me crazzy but when it hits lake floor you can see what looks might of been her body. this movie is secretly darker than it seems especially with how one get the geostigma. but its one of my favorite movies of all time
I remember seeing it for first time on Animax channel back in 2008, & i didn't know what I was looking at. After that all i could remember was seeing cool looking dudes with swords with strange looking bikes chasing each other. Only years later the coming of internet & social media, the new game trailers showing the familiar characters got me searching for it.
The context to Tseng surviving in the OG is when Cait Sith sacrificed himself in the temple, Cait Sith #2 saves Tseng and gets him out of the temple before he returns to Cloud's party. But if you want more details of that, you'd have to read On A Way To Smile. And you really should read it since it gives a lot of context for this movie, including how Rufus survives.

Wow, such a good video! I love that you were paying attention, respectful and looked like you genuinely enjoyed and appreciated the movie. And I really enjoyed your analysis afterwards, it showed that you put a lot of care, thought and effort into making this video. Aww, thank you so much!! 😭💕 I'm glad you enjoyed it, and I'm happy to have made it the way I did. I get really into some stories, so I tend to want to think about it a lot and even consider different perspectives/interpretations others have. I'm also really into psychology, so when there's mental stuff going on I usually get really into that as well. Thank you again for the love and engagement, I really do appreciate it!! 💕 (And omg the Reno and Rude scenes were so silly lol I loved it)
Kadaj, Yuzuu, and Loz were three aspects and remnants of Sephiroth’s own personality and will, formed by JENOVA cells, and diffused into the Lifestream when Could and gang originally defeated him. That’s why they can be cold, aloof, and even sad about their “mother.” They are him, but they aren’t fully him. Think split-personalities. Sephiroth’s will refused to dissolve into the Lifestream, and this shattered, and they were born. (I don’t think AT ALL they they insteded this, but you can see in even the original OG game red parts of Sephy splinter off when he “dies” instead of just dissolving. At the end, Kadaj hears Aerith’s voice, who is basically a stand-in and represent native of Gaia, the planet, and the Lifestream which is why he is confused but calls her mother when she says “It’s ok, everyone is waiting.” It’s the aspect of Sephiroth that just wanted to be human, normal, and accepted, especially by his “mother.” 🙂
I recommend you watch videos of the original Crisis Core so you can hear Rick Gomez's performance, who was Zack's voice in all FF projects before Remake. I experienced Advent and the original CC first so the new voice was also a little jarring to me, and although I don't dislike the new voice actor, I prefer the original. The new VA makes him sound kinda dorky, which is not bad, but for me Zack's main attribute was that he was like a cooler version of Cloud, which Rick's voice captures perfectly.
That's interesting. I did see some people talking about this online, which is how I even knew about it in the first place. But yeah, it's crazy how drastically a voice can shape the personality of a character. Also funny enough, at the beginning of Crisis Core Reunion, even though I hadn't heard his old voice, I thought his new voice sounded kind of dorky lol. But I'll consider looking at some of the older stuff, because it definitely makes me curious! Thank you for commenting and engaging by the way! I really appreciate it :)
FF7 lore nerd here, about Geostigma, it is an illness that is caused by Sephiroth's hateful, malevolent will resonating through the Jenova Cells. Cloud, obviously, already had Jenova Cells in his body. Most of the other people who had Geostigma were exposed to Jenova Cells during the ending of FF7, when the Lifestream burst out of the Planet and confronted Meteor. But at this point Sephiroth was not yet aware of how the Jenova Cells could be used to harm others thru his own hatred. During this event all of the Jenova cells from the defeated bodies of Jenova Synthesis and Sephiroth at the end of FF7 had been dispersed into the Lifestream, and they were basically able to hitch a ride during the ending. Because majority of people in FF7's world are not able to adapt to Jenova Cells, many quickly got sick, and many died instantly. This was because Sephiroth's spirit had not died, it continued to exist and it was enraged after being defeated by Cloud and the team. This rage and hatred that Sephiroth held onto to survive was resonating through the Jenova Cells being spread around the world, and Sephiroth's hatred caused the Jenova Cells to injure and kill many people. This was a new ability that Sephiroth discovered after his defeat at the end of FF7. The black pus-like ichor called "Geostigma" was the corruption from the Jenova Cells, and is the tell-tale sign that the body is no longer able to keep the Jenova Cells under control, and it is starting to die.
The wolf is the living embodiment of his guilt and solitary nature. I’d bet money on it featuring somewhat in the 3rd part of the remake trilogy. The whole story stems from Cloud’s guilt and feelings of inadequacy. It all started from the bridge collapse as a child. Cloud and Tifa were pretty close as little kids and he loved her for pretty much his whole life. Tifa’s mother wanted them together too and described Cloud as the most beautiful thing she ever saw or something like that. After the bridge collapse and Tifa ending up in a coma, Cloud was blamed for the accident and wasn’t really allowed to see her anymore. The guilt of letting her down and not being fast enough is what sent him down the path of becoming a SOLDIER. Then the Nibelhiem accident happened and then Aerith died. In Cloud’s mind, he was always to slow, always too weak. So his solution is to leave to not ‘burden’ his friends. In reality, Cloud beat the most powerful superhuman on Gaia at 16 with no mako or any other enhancements. Even his design is very ‘underdog’. He’s much shorter and thinner than most of the other males in the game.
Yeah, I can see how that wolf represention makes sense. I love Cloud’s character so much, and I think they did a good job creating it. I also love the way they express the layers of his feelings and personality in this movie (and throughout this entire series), and how some of the other characters react to it. I’m definitely excited to play the remake!! Also, thank you for your engagement and for sharing your insight! I really appreciate it 💕
Hopefully I’ll be starting it within the week of November 18th. I’m going to be posting a few videos about Dirge of Cerberus first, and then I’ll be getting into remake. And I’m glad you’re looking forward to it! :)
@@shuichivlames Cloud loves aerith don't listen to him. Cloud's mom 100% wanted cloud to be with a girl like aerith. Aerith's theme even plays when she talks about the perfect girl for him. After advent children ends it's said cloud holds aerith in his heart forever and still remains only friends with tifa
@@w01f777 One thing in your post is 100% incorrect. Tifa and Cloud were never close. Cloud was always the outcast and wanted to Tifa all to himself as the other boys were d@mb according to him which he was right eventually when none of them stopped Tifa from going to the bridge. They all ditched her. I have no idea where you got your information about Tifa's mother and what she thought about Cloud. Where did you get it from?
The Wolf I may be wrong, but I believe the wolf either belong to Zack or it was in the same neighborhood because there’s a park and fun fantasy seven game. Where are you? Play Zax story it’s been so long since I’ve played the game, but there is a story of Zach within the game. itself
at the end that was Sephiroths limit break Octaslash and after that... it was Clouds limit break Omnislash.. basically reimagined little bit.. :D they made it flashioer.. :D since in the game they couldnt make it like this..
The thing about Advent Children is there is plenty of meat for a good story, but sadly it doesn’t take advantage of that and the story is minimal to the action. There’s a lot of quiet moments and not enough character interactions. If I were writing this I’d have more interactions with Cloud and Tifa. Cloud’s behavior is understandable after what he experienced, but he should be talking about it more. Not saying they have to kiss, but they live together, they can at least hug after a deep conversation. The movie is by no means bad, just lacking in the plot department leaving us to connect the dots ourselves which is fine but it would’ve been nice to see more of Cloud’s recovery from guilt. There is actually a fan edited version of the movie in parts here on UA-cam that actually make the movie better with different dialogue that explains things better, it may not be the original voice actors, but I still recommend everyone to watch it, it is better than the extended cut even!
Man I forgot how bad the English dub on this film sounds it makes it feel like a kids movie. This movie actually got me into Japanese and I never have put on dubbing for any film since haha. My dream is they rerecord the dialogue with the superior new cast.
You are already watching a DUB version ....of course the English VA has a good chance of being different..lol If you are that into FF7 ,you should definitely play FF7 remake and most of all FF7 rebirth
The wolf is similar to the games dog pictures I don't know if you played the games or not I'm kind of confused on what you know but in ff7 remake it shows a picture of a dog on a potato chip bag or something which I believe represented shinra like they're the dogs of shinra. So the wolf could represent Zack soul it only makes sense because he was lingering around the sword which is Zacks sword... And it was there when he revived. He did say cloud is his living legacy other than that I'm not really sure.
Interesting synopsis - what i took from it. Watching it a few times since it came out. The wolf reoccuring throughout is symbolizing Cloud being a lone wolf...feeling guilty and trying to everything himself but by the end he realizes he still has friends and "family" that he's "not alone". Also i took it as Cloud did die a assimulated into the lifestream but was returned by Aerith/lifestream cause it wasn't his time. Did you also catch when Tifa was arguing with Cloud to "stop running" the camara angle focused on Tifa's left hand...could that have been an engagement ring she was wearing?? o.O
Oh ok, yeah I didn’t think about the wolf that way. That’s interesting, and it makes sense! And yeah, I agree with the lifestream thing, that also makes the most sense. Also, I went back to look at Tifa’s hand because I didn’t catch that, but it looks like it was her right hand and not her left. I could be wrong, but that’s what it looks like. But all of this is definitely interesting to think about! Thank you so much for this comment! I appreciate your insight and engagement :)
Oh! Also about the ring on Tifa’s hand again, I just realized in this video I had to edit the clips a certain way so the image is flipped. It probably looks like her left hand in this video because the image is flip horizontally, but in the original footage it’s her right hand.

I love FF7! I love people that share their experiences with it! It's so special! Cheers! Can't wait for more!
Gotta love how there are still ppl watching the movie again I too rewatched it again some time ago.
My favorite FF voice actors by a mile, especially Steve Burton and George Newbern. VA for Kadaj was also great imo.
The movie is really good
The wolf is the living embodiment of his guilt and solitary nature.
I really appreciate it 💕
@ any time! When will you be starting the remake? I look forward to watching
Play Zax story it’s been so long since I’ve played the game, but there is a story of Zach within the game. itself
There's a PS2 game about Vincent that takes place after this movie. They tell you how he got his powers
59:39 you know what, i get it😂
at the end that was Sephiroths limit break Octaslash and after that... it was Clouds limit break Omnislash.. basically reimagined little bit.. :D they made it flashioer.. :D since in the game they couldnt make it like this..
if you like ff7 and ac youll love the remake series
Great vid!!
Thank you!! 💕💕
I love Adventure children. It’s Clouds good ending that he deserves
It use to be on Netflix
I watched this movie and the extended version like 10 times before I fully understood it. FF is intentionally vague and I kinda like that 🤔
Wolf timeline
Man I forgot how bad the English dub on this film sounds it makes it feel like a kids movie. This movie actually got me into Japanese and I never have put on dubbing for any film since haha. My dream is they rerecord the dialogue with the superior new cast.
The exact same here bro
Yeah, about the VAs, it's frustrating that they didn't just stick with the original cast for the remakes
Great movie!
maaaan I have no idea Japanese VA is 10x better than the Eng version on this one
You are already watching a DUB version ....of course the English VA has a good chance of being different..lol
If you are that into FF7 ,you should definitely play FF7 remake and most of all FF7 rebirth
He did say cloud is his living legacy other than that I'm not really sure.
clouds move at the end is omnislash well the movie version anyway movie is trash but the action is good
Interesting synopsis - what i took from it.
You look like TIFA
The movie is so cringe in eng dub x'D
