The reason the basement stayed active was the explosive barrel in it. Explosive barrels can maintain control over areas... if they don't explode.

yknow, im surprised there hasnt been a drag-upgrade function modded in yet. where if you drag-select wood bracing while having a different wood bracing selected, it would upgrade all of that type of bracing that intersects your selection box. would make upgrading to background/foreground bracing easier, as well as upgrading to modded bracing
