Nice video! I have had my RV-3 with de Luxe Front and Side Panels incl. side awning for several years by now using it in all kinds of weather here in Norway and I love it. It is durable and easy to put up. It will stand in tough windy conditions and keep me dry in heavy rain.
Great review, I have the RV-4 with the fly, side & front panels including the floor saver. We bought the Gecko Stretchers and my wife and I camped last week. It rained one night and we felt so snug inside our RV-4. Not one drop of water got in.
Great video :) I bought the RV5 tent today and now can’t wait to get these extras! Thanks so much. I wonder what you think about seasoning the canvas? Going camping soon and live in an apartment, so I’ll have to set up my tent in a friend’s yard to hose it down and dry it before we leave.
Hello. Thanks for detailed video. I'm just wondering how this setup is holding up so far? Have you had any leaks or problems yet. Also when you have the sides and the front panel on, how does it cope in high wind? David.
I have slept in it for about 35 nights so far and not had any leakage problems and we have had it out in some really nasty conditions. If it is really windy, it is important to stake it out properly.
I wouldn't put the front spreader bar underneath the awning flap, it should go on the outside(on top). During heavy rain the awning can sag and end up being a water trap. The weight of the water can end up bending your poles. Want to know how I know this :). With the front spreader bar on top, the awning will just sag and the water will run off. This also applies to the optional fly, if you decide to put a spreader between the poles, put it on top. Good video and explanation otherwise, thanks.
That is probably one of the best comments I have had in a long time and I have no idea why I didn't think of that first. Thanks for great input! I have had that problem with the canopy on my awning forever and I have been battling with it and never even thought about this simple fix.
Nope ! Externally open/close of large window. No awning protection for any window. Not going to work in our temperate rain forest . Stifling no ventilation I'm sure. I can buy 4 4man tents with extra zip on rooms for oz5 price.
I use one, and it isn't how you say. Plenty of ventilation as the back windows open up and you can sue an additional 2 poles to use the rear flap as awning too.. We've used the RV5 in post cyclone conditions here in NZ and not a problem even if it is persisting down. Believe me, we are temperate rain forest even in the cities here. We also use a wood stove in the awning and have a flue through the top. it's great with the fire on. I rate it 10/10 as a tent plus the awnings and side pieces. And it is the fastest tent I have ever put up.

Best tent in the world made in Australia. Made to prevent Drop Bear attacks in the aussie outback

Love the oztent Rv 5 Great look around your tent
I suggest you place the front most stretcher pole on the outside of the tent to prevent rainwater from getting trapped.
Thank you so much... good review and inspired to get one.
wow you meke look so easy ,im getting one ,where do you recommend to buy one ? there's so many places .

i love that oz tent 100%
Is it possible to keep the front and side panels on when folding up the RV-5....so everything packs into one bag?
Not unless you got a bigger bag. Just the tent is a pretty tight fit.
You can keep the side panels on with the fly but not the front panel, It is a tight squeeze but I can do it by myself and i'm 63
