York Package Units: Issues every Service Technician should know

- In this video i found a York package unit with the York Smart Equipment control board. It had a bad Condenser coil sensor and outdoor air sensor. I go through how to change them out and advice we have gotten from York on how to make the repair. Water/moisture can make these sensors act up so be aware. I also show hot to pull up temperature reading on the Control board display. Another bit of advice is if you are getting continues fault read outs on the control board it likely will need an update.

Alot of the sensor faults could be solved from a simple Relearn. Can also test the sensors by doing DC Voltage across the sensor tabs. Use a 10K chart. dont even have to go into the board or find the sensors.

What do you recommend when a york unit package unit alarms saying c1 locked out due to coil freeze. I checked air filter, check blower belt , make sure it's tight not loose, all supply vents are open and return grills are clean?? After when it runs it says excessive supply air temp that's next alarm? What do u recommend?
I would use Dielectric grease to keep the moisture out of the connectors

Wired the replacement sensor incorrectly! The idea is to run the yellow excess cable ALL the way back to the harness on the SSE control board. It alleviates moisture and corrects the issue. Just cut about 6 inches from Harness and wire nut in the electrical cabinet.

When the display screen remains on idle what does that mean??
Sounds like you don't have a call for heat, AC, or Fan.
I have a 30 ton York that started to turn off the screen goes blank and then turn back on . Sometimes is stay on for 2 to 3 minutes sometimes goes through it complete cycle and satisfied. You think it could be low voltage

Hi, my york rtu unit is giving a HS1 limit switch error on the smart simplicity control. I've checked the high limit switch and it seems fine. The manual for the control says the LS1 has tripped 3 times within an hour. This results in the HS1 LIMIT SWITCH LOCKOUT. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I just bought same sensors 4 of each kind. Haven't done any software updates.

Great video! I have 5 of those York units Model Number ZJ090N12R2B1BAF1A2 in my place and I after 2 years old I have a quite a few sensor errors displaying, Where do you download the software for that particular York unit from?
Also if you can share with us the part number for that sensor? Where do you order the parts from? Appreciate it thanks
I don't have the part number unfortunately. You can get the software download from your reginal tech support rep. We also order the parts from our local HVAC York dealer.
Aren’t those units set to update automatic on its own. I am looking up my Units manual and it says that it can be updated automatically and Manually. Since this is my first time doing the update, I am not sure what is the difference and if you have the answer since you already done it. Thank you for your time!

What is the ohms on that sensor??? 10,000 ohms??
I having an issue with this unit. The board reads Excessive Supply Air Temp Cooling. It is a ZEH060 model number. It keeps saying it is on IDLE. Does it need an update?
Did you ever find out what that fault code was?
You have to go into details and lower the cooling temp for the sensor on the Evap coil.. i had the same isue and that fixed it

Need help with a excessive air supply ...shuts off.. room does not get to temp .... This is our newest AC at the plant so I'm not too familiar with all this newer technology all the other AC units here are all junk and old 😂
Might be worth having a HVAC technician come out and at least show you the basics.
