I always hated navigating ribbons and elastic when putting pointe shoes on so this time, now that I'm back in the boots, I use hooks and eyes. I got bra extenders and sew the hook pieces near the waistline seam of the shoe and the eye pieces to the ends of my criss-crossed elastics. Super easy to put on, and I'm not trying to maneuver my foot and toe pads through the maze, and really easy to remove. I love it. I think I'll try the loop ribbon on my next pair. Cause that looks neat! Thanks for posting the tutorial.
@@clairepaul3573 I did a little video about it on Instagram back in July. Username @solarfell. It's rambly and not very organized 'cause I did it spur-of-the-moment on my phone. So, yah, not the greatest. Should be good enough for you to understand what I did, though!
Hey! I tried sewing my ribbons like this for the first time today. When I wrap them around after putting my shoe on they are tangled. Is there a way to fix that, or do I just tuck the twisted part under?
Best to speak to a ballet teacher you trust about it, our bodies are all different so we have different requirements! Perhaps if you wanted to try, you can re-sew an old pair of pointe shoes to test it out and see if this method works for you! x
Is it harder to dance with loop ribbons than with traditional ribbons, such as BLOCH elasto-ribbons? Are they less supportive because of being all elastic? What are the advantages and disadvantages?
It really depends on your foot type and strength, along with how long you have been doing pointe. If your strong on point and don't pull back, elastics should help a lot, but if your not too strong and pull back they are a bad option.
From my experience they don't stretch out too much! I have stretch ribbons on my old pointe shoes that I sewed in January and they still feel good and secure!
Um so, I’m a beginner point shoe dancer and my dance teacher told me to find a tutorial on UA-cam and he’ll do the breaking in part? So is it ok if I do the sowing with no idea where to put the elastics and ribbons?
I'm new too and got the tip to put them at the point where your arch bends the most. In the vid here she puts them further back, but a lot of people put it at the bendiest part of the arch. Hope this helps😊
@@AdultBalletCollective I have worked it out I was twisting the wrong way when putting it back over my foot so have this huge twist I couldn’t get rid of
Yeah I wish you slowed down and show where you put the initial elastic as that is the most helpful part that you skipped. Watching someone sew isn’t helpful :(
Oh, I’m truly sorry that you couldn’t see it clearly! I feel that the placement of your elastics and ribbons is a personal thing, so it really depends on your feet and where you feel like you need the support. I’ve noticed many others sew their elastics and ribbons at different points on their shoe and at slightly different angles too! I suppose it’s all about experimenting!
I was finally able to get stretch ribbons for my new pointe shoes specifically so I could see them like this! No tying=no unwrapping
This was so easy! I could easily sew my own ribbons and elastics on and put them on like magic! So cool 😎
Oh that’s awesome to hear! Yay!!

How do you do this sounds brilliant lol

Sadly u can’t see the hook and eye part only the back of the shoe elastic :( thanks though
Thanks for this amazing video I love your channel and just subscribed ❤
Aw thank you so much for your lovely comment! 😘

Hmm there is a small twist but I usually tuck it under! For me, I’ve never found it noticeable as it’s always at the back of my ankle!
I’ve always used satin ribbons but after watching this video I’m gonna try stretch ribbons on loop for my one pair
Let us know how you go with it!
can you tell me what type of ribbon this is? maybe link that brand??
I have been on point shoes for two years do you think I can sew my point shoes like this

What is the loop ribbon called? I can’t find it online.
Do stretch ribbons wear out fast?

this is so helpful!! i need to try this out :D

How do I sew on the covert elastics, this video wasn’t specific. I can’t figure out how to get them to stay.
Hmm I’ve never had an issue with them! I just sew in-between the plastic elastic bits? I used dental floss and that works a treat!
Mine elastics are SOOO twisted how do yours look pretty
I use my sewing machine to stitch the elastics and elastic ribbons to my point shoes. Quick, easy, and secure. 🩰
Lucky you! Not all of us have the luxury of a sewing machine! 😂
But isn't the stitches going to be on the outside layer of the pointe shoes too?
Pinned correctly but I have a huge amount of twisting when I put it on my shoe... not sure how to fix this ?
Hello! Do you mean twisting of the ribbon? There will always be a bit of twisting, but it’s generally quite easy to untwist and smooth it all out!
@@AdultBalletCollective I have worked it out I was twisting the wrong way when putting it back over my foot so have this huge twist I couldn’t get rid of
That may be because you sewed the ribbons the wrong way…
Do you use the sheer stretch ribbon or the satin stretch ribbon?
Hello! Hmm I think it’s the sheer stretch ribbon!
