My girlfriend and I both have been fishing off Revo 13’s for 5 years. Here is what I did to mount my accessories. I mounted four Scotty splined quick release plates on the vertices sidewalls of the netted storage cavities, two on each side. I then plug in two Scotty rod holders, with extensions, for trolling. I also have a Scotty lake troller downrigger, mounted next to the starboard rod holder, and a lowrance fish finder mounted next to the port rod holder. Everything is in perfect position, and the boat is extremely productive catching 4 lb. Eagle Lake Trout. My girlfriend got me the MD180 drive with turbo fins to replace my original ST drive. Can’t wait to fish with it. PS. I have never come close to rolling this boat in five years, even while enduring heavy winds and four foot chop, coming from all directions, in the middle of Eagle Lake. The boat has great stability, and would take it any day of the barge like outback!

The revo is good for chasing feeding fish, up here in the NE strippers and blues chase the bunker up and down the coast, I can't keep up with my PA14, but the guys in the revos can actually get ahead of them! They are a lot lighter to be dragging across the sand! The revo is good for using just the paddle, for those lakes with a lot of weeds! Best of luck!!

Ty, you both should really enjoy your new kayaks! What I think you are doing . . . by moving over time from big and heavy PAs, then to Outbacks, now to these sleek Revos is you have simply learned you prefer what some might call a finesse kayak. No fuss, grab 2 or 3 rods, know what lures you plan for that trip and carry them in a few Plano boxes, some incidentals . . . and off you go. I think kayaks of this sort get used a lot more than the loaded down, over-accessorized rides where it takes an hour to set up for a trip, an hour at the water to get them wet, an hour to unload them, trailer them and so forth. I look forward to seeing tomorrow's review on the water! Brad

I think when folks learn how to manage with Revo they get a better kayak and it’s LIGHT!!! I love Revo I’m on number two!

For storage I took one of the screws out of the mesh storage container on the side of the kayak and put a longer screw in it on both sides. I then stretched a piece of paracord from screw to screw inside the hull. This allowed me to add hooks to my tackle boxes and just attach them to the paracord. That way your boxes do not get lost in the hull.

That's an awesome tip. I'll have to try that one.

Just throw some slide track rails down both sides next to your legs. I did that on my 07 Tarpon 140. Works great. I use the scotty bases that attach to the rails. I got a cupholder on one side and a tray on the other. You may want to roll with a rod holder off to the side or some camera mounts.

Would you consider to switch from Revo 13 2017 to OB 2019?
I use to practice jigging in Deep offhore areas... up to 3-4 miles from the coast.

Hey TY- thanks for the comparison- it helped me decide to buy the Revo 13 this past fall. You should do another side-by-side video and include the Compass!

You have to be careful of random wakes because if you happen to be reaching back on the left side and a small wake hits you on the right side YOU WILL ROLL! especially if you are loaded up! It's almost the exact size and shape of the Wilderness Systems PAIRadise which I had. and just sold for that reason.
    KEEP THE OUTBACK FOR BTB!

"A banana and a bowl of water" 😂 classic.
A good review. I'm looking at getting my 1st Hobie mirage dr kayak ,. My bro was visiting and had this tandem foot pedal kayak and I loved it. Now , I'm thinking for myself a single Revo 13 , because easier to push through the water and lighter to load on the ute...right?
Looking at 2nd hand boats. I believe there was a particular year model to avoid , cracking around the drive hole ... What are the year models to get?

The Hobie Revolution 13 was my first Hobie now I also have a Revolution 16. You are right about the rudder being just right for the Revolution 13. I put a sail rudder on my boat and it was too much, I think at cruising speed if you cranked it all the way it would flip you. Plus it was harder to pull up into the stowed position when coming to shore. The 13 will turn better than my 16, the 16 with a sail rudder and using a paddle. All the 16 has over the 13 is speed and the 16 is better going into wind chop. I have never been turned over by and wake but I have been out in 3 foot wind chop with the Hobie Revolution 13 it did fine. The Hobie Revolution 13 is so easy to get back into from the water the handles are in just the right place. The first time I practiced I was in a drysuit had a PDF on I kicked my feet to the surface pulled and turned and found myself sitting in the seat. WHAT!! that was too easy. The Revolution 16 the handles are not placed as well and the boat tips up more but I can still get in it OK from the water. Thanks for doing this type of video I found your channel in 2015 when I was trying to make a choice of buying a Outback or Hobie Revolution 13.

I'm close to an Outback so I can stand up fish in the marsh (I'm in Laffy) but I have a need for speed. I haven't found a boat that's a good marriage between the two that has some type of pedal system. Not getting another boat I have to paddle.

30milesOut thanks for the quick reply. I like Outback but ita a hassle to grab Outback and take it to your own car rack since it's impossible without any assistance. That's the reason why I'm considering Revo over OB since it looks lighter and faster...

    • @30mofishing
      @30mofishing  5 років тому

not for standing at all... no width for feet... very tippy. thats why i had outriggers on mine. even so tho, you cant spread your feet. that boat is for speed... if u like to cover lots of area to go wade or chase birds, that boat is it. mega fast... not for standing at all.

not sure if its 2.2. but i can tell u this... its alot heaver to pull up with the pull string than the standard rudder... it all adds up. pick up a rigged 2017 outback and then pick up a old outback. all the new stuff puts alot more weight on.

It's an old superstition. Boats carrying bananas had to travel fast, so guys trying to find over the side of the boat weren't successful. It's carried over. I don't usually subscribe to it, but better safe than sorry! :-)
