Good video, takes me back about 20 years to when I was rebuilding CD4E's for European cars. A couple of points I'd like to make, I'd have soaked my frictions in ATF before installing them. I'd also have used no prodder or feeler gauge to install the moulded pistons. From memory I used to give them a nice rock and they usually dropped in no problem. We always used to replace the black bodied old style solenoid packs with the brown ones.
Buenas noches ya la repare la cd4e aplica bien al sacar a carretera se neutraliza y ya no avanza la apagó y prendo y funciona nuevamente pero al volver a llegar aún stop ya no avanza no entra ninguna velocidad
You must be a pretty fast gun then. I would say I might be a bit quicker than Hiram but this unit always seems to take me a bit more time than many others.
So what I wants to know is do the friction plates the gears and the whole assembly do everything lineup from one point meaning is there a Mark that line's everything up together
Where do I find those valve body alignment pins are they located somewhere in the cd4e transmission? If so I can use my old broken cd4e tranny and pull them out. I can’t find anything online and I need them.
if my transmission won't go past 4th gear on my lexus is250 what might be the issue? and also if I change the transmission oil is there a chance my transmission won't work after? people have told me there's a risk.
Hiram my escape is a 6 cylinder. Would you be able to tell me the assembly order of the coast side of the drum. My escape has a wavy plate! Thank you very much!
Hey I am having crazy issues with my transmission and I was wondering if I could call to you and explain what was going on and if you could give me a idea of how to solve the issue
Hello! I am from Romania, I have a Mondeo Ford, with gearbox, from 2002, 2.0 benzine, and my problem is that the car does not leave the place. It just goes in reverse. Get in speed but just go back, it doesn't goes forward, just in reverse. I have changed the oil from gearbox after I had problems but in vain. The car just goes in reverse and get in speed but just go back, it doesn't goes forward. Please can you help with some advice!! What do you think is wrong? Thank you!
Please i need help!!. If the pump is mount in the car, can i get out only the pump? I have a leak and y need change o rin, or is necesary unmount all the transmision
The pump is behind the bellhousing inside the transmission so it must be removed from the vehicle so you might as well get it rebuilt all the way while you're in there its a lot of work just to get them out of the vehicle!
Hiram, i recently wrote you about rebuilding my transmission. After 3 months and bitter cold here in new jersey my od light has started flashing doesnt shift to third gear. I noticed if i left the vehicle on and parked for a long period when i put it in drive i would have to rev alittle for it to grab first gear. Any suggestions, thanks again, Jose
If you don’t hear from him then might I suggest trying an in car partial rebuild if you don’t want to take it out of the vehicle, also the rev thing sounds like a filter partially clogged and warm fluid not moving as well through it or a leak and warm fluid leaking worse
What would be the proper torque spec on the oil pump assembly bolts and the pump assembly to the case specs, Mitchell is saying 8ft,lb on the oil pump and 10ft,lb on the pump to the case, we tried this and it will snap the shaft in two and lock the pump up, anyway to know the torque spec on these, i don't trust Mitchell anymore, dose anyone have Alldata that could look up the torque spec for a CD4E and see if its the same. Thanks to anyone that replays
+Jason Warkin When you torque the bolts, you should be able to turn the shaft by hand. If not then there might be some debris on the pump gears gears. The gasket goes between the plate and the support not between the pump and the plate.
Before I dismount my transmission I have a question. I have a Ford Escape 01 4x4. When I was checking the rear side, my jack slippered and make a hole in the differencial. I was waiting for put another differential. By that time I started clean the vacuums lines. I did buy a product name Sea Foam. I did take out a vacuum hose from the Brakes Booster and pour a little of that liquid. When I finished and try to move the vehicle, It’s wont’s move at all. I didn’t have any issue with the transmiision before. What happened, and what I did with the engine, doesn’t have any connection for me, . I took out a line from the transmission and radiator, and there is not pressure. But by your experience, what can I ck. First?. Hope your answer backs to me soon. Thanks in advance Gr0958@hotmail.com. PD: My transmission is a CD4E?

Is that ATP TRANS ASEMBLY LUBE?
Tengo un proble con cd4e entra y se descolecta el overdrive como q estuviera jugando el boton dela palanka q se deve gracias
I did not change the molded pistons or selonoid pack!
I thought you had to soak the friction disks in transmission fluid before installing them. How come you put them in dry?
I always used to soak friction discs in oil before installing them. Perhaps the guy is gonna soak the completed drums in oil before he installs them?
You don’t have to if you install them wet or dry it will not make a bit of difference
can you align the pump with out the pins
oh ok thanks , but i think the pump is bad
Phil tutz
Because I have a 02 4x4 Ford escape and my reverse pull every time I throw it in reverse

Does anyone know if both lip seals on the forward reverse piston should face down? Or does the outer one face up and the inner face down? I’m stuck
11 dislikes? Other transmission rebuilders??
