People need to have respect for property even when it's abandoned. Has it stops others from filming at these places. Asbestos is very serious to health yet people still don't wear the right equipment and clothing.

This is my kind of urban exploration. Nice overview of the property and no inane chit chat or observations. Beautiful old place and it does seem like a good restoration project.

What a beautiful film. I have heard of the place, although I never realised that it was empty. The condition of the interior is extraordinary. I hope that it is planned to remove the asbestos and restore life to this wonderful Victorian 'Gothic' building. It would be heartbresking if it were to be vandalized.

    • @AbandonedIsleofWight
      @AbandonedIsleofWight  7 років тому +5

It's been empty for some time the old guy living there died a few years back now.
It is an incredible building and mostly in great condition, fortunately, it now extremely secure with 24h security (which is why I thought it safe to now upload) as I too would be mortified if it were to become vandalised... Thanks for watching 😃

Abandoned Isle of Wight thank you, yes it is mainly in excellent condition. 'The Old Dude' Major Coventry spent a great deal of money and effort keeping it up - a small fortune was spent on the tower and north facade - and it really makes me angry when people talk as though it was neglected and allowed to fall down. Personally doubt the new people will do much in the short term

Thankyou, Sir for a lovely tour of this abandoned castle. It's magnificent. The architecture is so beautiful. I could have watched this all night:-) The music you have put to this video is also beautiful.
Although I don't mind some communication as long as it's relevant to what they are exploring. History is amaZing.
I love your style approach as you feel the indepth explore. It's not distracted in anyway. Taking in the architecture needs a lot of concentration and thought.
Thankyou so much for the video. I look f/Ward to watching many more😊 I have Liked/Subscribed👍

Amazing video! Me and the people I work for actually cleared out a load of furniture before it was sold that all went to Henry Adams auctions in Chichester. It was an amazing place and the furniture that came out was amazing and had so much history to it. I never saw the swimming pool though as we wasn't aloud down to the basement due to the asbestos.

Abandoned Isle of Wight yeah some of the furniture we took our dated back to the 1800s.. also there was a rolls Royce sitting in the barn but that went after our 4th visit. One of the security guards that was staying there at the time we went told us that late and night he could hear foot steps and doors closing... 😳

This is not a medieval castle. It was built in 1799 for one thing. For another it lacks anything that looks like feasible battlements, while there are big windows on the ground floor. This is a manor house made to look (a little) like a medieval castle.

Go to the lower right and click on the little cog wheel where you can control the playback speed. You can speed up or slow things down. The only problem is in a video like this which has music is that music might become distorted. Once I watched a video of a tiny old train in Scotland that crept along at what seemed 5 MPH. I had to double the speed.

I wonder if anything has been done to it since being purchased? I would have turned it into a wedding venue/hotel/spa type business. I'm sure when fixed up it will look great. Probably haunted though. My daughter had her wedding at a 1920's mansion and I asked the workers if it were haunted and she said they have had some unusual activity, but it was a gorgeous home!

MLMLW sadly, it’s pretty much been left.... it is on the English Heritage at risk list.
Bought in 2016 with the intention of making it into a hotel, the owners worked with English Heritage who upgraded the house, the outbuildings and the farm to a Grade 1 listing because of its importance.
The owners do want to continue work, but it will be very costly indeed.

In February 2016, Norris Castle was bought for £4.7 million, with the intention that it be renovated and opened as a luxury hotel. The owning company is Uavend (Norris Castle) LTD, operated by Eamon O'Connor and his business partner, Edward Wellington. The selling agent set a guide price of £1 million, with the proviso that the estate would need millions spent to restore it.[90]
At the current time, the project is in its planning and consultation stages.

Can remember going through the castle in the early 80's when it was still occupied, there was a tea room in the small court yard. Can't remember how much it cost to go through it now, I know it wasn't much. The owners were quite charming told us that the area between the castle and the solent was infested with snakes.

I'd like to see the "outhouse." I'd bet it's pretty nice to live in. I'd rather live in a smaller place than the luxury castle. Too big and gloomy even if it does have nice woodwork, etc.

Exactly. Humans have a really ignorant systematic thing in place called business. Fact is business is like a life too...it will eventually die. The fault is... these tangible structures could help "new" humans. But business says "F- that".

And part of of urban exploration is take nothing but pictures and leave nothing but footprints. It doesn't matter what it's worth, it would be stealing and you could go to jail. Abandoned doesn't mean there is no owner.
