When you hear and see on the TV about these houses falling into the sea you think aww poor people. But then when you actually take us into the said houses its heartbreaking to see how beautiful the houses are and how happy people must of been living there and so harshly taken away from them. Thanks for sharing....its so sad xx
Very tragic really Gaynor. Imagine being told not to go back to your home! It's a bit weird that we can freely walk in and out but noone came back to take their possessions! Cheers for watching as always 😁 👍
Strange how they aren’t allowed to fetch their belongings and yet the houses have not been demolished to stop urban explorers and vandals from entering !
It really did feel weird that we could walk round them, but the families couldn't go back. I guess the insurance dictated that decision! Cheers for watching (I'm glad you separated Urban explorers and vandals lol)
It's a very sad story regarding the house, stables etc, former Harbour Farm. The couple who lived there, had already donated land to the RSPB, but the Environment Agency eventually forced them out, to further flood the area, as is considered a SSSI.However, the EA are yet to do anything, and it's stood abandoned for 10 years.
I know one of the guys from the local authority who was part of the evacuation team, he said that the ground was rippling as you walked on it, he could hear mature trees snapping and after one trip from a garden to the road and back again, the garden was unrecognisable.
Looking at news articles for the local area, it appears that the major landslip happened just to the left of the of first bungalow you went in, and the road cracked open directly in front of the bungalow - it happened on the 12th February 2014, and the army was called in on the 16th to help evacuate the other houses opposite the bungalow, where the road completely fell away. It looks like the severe weather and loads of rain preceding this event was to blame. But if you notice further along the road there are traffic lights which has been there for some time before 2014, where that section of road had been moved due to what looks like a landslip there as well. So the houses would have been empty since Feb 2014, thats 9 years. Looking at Google Streetview, you can see they were occupied in 2009 and in 2011, but abandoned in the later 2019 view. The second house was called Mount Lavinia - you can see the name plate on the gate on the 2009 view. The abandoned Ford Cougar is interesting though - you can see it on the drive in the 2019 view, but it shows as MOT'd until April 2019, so it was left there at least 4 years after the house was abandoned in 2014 - very odd that. Very interesting video, but confused me when you jumped to that Harbour Farm place, which I found was located some distance from the first 2 houses you looked at.
I'm wondering if somebody was using the driveway post evacuation to continue doing up the Ford Cougar? It needs to be saved by somebody, not me but somebody out there!
The car would of had to be used/ moved in March/ April 2018 at the very latest for it to have MOT until April 2019. So someone must of still been living there illegally until at least March/April 2018 before eventually abandoning it
This whole area is built on what is called the landslip, no houses should ever have been built on it, the underlying strata is blue slipper clay & there lies the problem, the more it rains the more dangerous it becomes. The A3055 I think maybe still closed a huge landslip took place a year or so ago, where the local tea rooms lost all there gardens & a garage & car are now on a ledge 50 feet down the cliff never to be used again, well it was when it first happened, so whether it is now I couldn't tell you, so maybe another film visit there?
With all the talk of the government/councils talking about helping the environment, but yet they are o.k with all that waste just falling into the sea. Are they hoping that the plants will dispose off it as it overgrows?
There's not a lot you can do about it. It's not safe for anyone to go in there and that includes demolition of the place. So the safest thing is to let fall down bit by bit and remove whatever falls down below, its not ideal for the environment, but it's the safest. The explorers are taking a huge risk going inside these properties. Any further construction near coasts likely to erode should be banned. The people that lived in these houses left most of their things behind which proves how dangerous it.
A whole community wiped out. It's so sad to see. A home is a Home you know. A house like that would have been great to grow up in. I grew up somewhere like that. Miss it so much.

Think there was an episode in Canada where several custom homes (new) were also, falling in. New construction very sad
What if these houses are still here in 20 years??? Would be interesting to know the back story of these houses? Obviously falling into the sea was not imminent as it is 9 years on now, so they could have taken their property out!
Im just wondering, why don’t the UK government build a bridge to Isle of Wight? That way, the island could have a better chance of being revitalized
Those characters on the wall at 18:00 are from The big lez show, epic aussie comedy on youtube
Ah OK, cheers for the info, I'll have to check that out now!
Cheers for watching Kyle 😁👍
Ed’s a bit dramatic at times 🤣🤣🤣
Lol he's built for this exploring business!
Those Ford Cougars are getting rarer and rarer each day.. Sad to see one in that state.
Ford last taxed 2019
@@ciaran4589 that's not that long ago then...and the wheels have been taken off so somebody has either stolen them or the owner still has a connection.
Ford Cougar still there.
send out the helicopter.....she's mine!@@andrewsim4113
However, why would you buy a house near an eroding cliff top?
I'm actually surprised that the copper thieves haven't been in those buildings
Does anyone know where the houses are located?
England
That's a shame that these beautiful seaside houses are slowly going into the ocean my Dad was going to buy a house that was in Pacifica California but instead bought a house more inland. The house is well known in Pacifica from slow crumbling if the cliff it was built on
Whereabouts is this at? I’m in Australia so obviously I’m not about to jump on a plane to go explore the place, but I’d like to Google earth the place🤷🏼♀️
Could be Skipsea in Yorkshire, but I don't know...they don't say 🤔
It’s on the Isle of Wight uk. In between ventnor and st Lawrence under cliff drive
Where is that boat yard on that river? Is that on the Isle of Wight too?
Hi where in Isle of Wight is this located
They have closed more of the road 2024 because of subsidence. The road started to crack in Ventnor but yhey have somehow managed to stop it. Parts of Blackgang chine have fallen into the sea.
Whats the road called, do u know??
@@tommyhiggin4970 Undercliff Drive
Such a shame about the houses, I live about 5 min away and as of a few years ago they were more or less untouched, gone down hill massively unfortunately. Can’t actually believe how they stayed so good for so long, the copper tank was only nicked less than a year ago. Also I don’t think the cougar on the drive was the owner of the house, just dumped there probably about 6-7 years ago
Thanks for the info,
I do wonder about the previous owners and do hope they're better off now.
Hope you enjoyed the explore 👍
Dont you think the land has settled by now.. or is ut still moving?
What's the location on the Isleof Wight? Struggle to find on maps, thanks
So why is'nt the Council seeing that the none degradeable stuff is removed to avoid coming polution? Bloody irresponcible.
I'm curious, how many of these homes were lived in by the owners vs mainland/overseas owners who rented them out as holiday homes (Air B&B etc)
You boys are awesome
Cheers Mr Bill so is this comment! 👍
That fart! 😂😂😂 You got a like from me just because of that, made me giggle!
I just. Found you channel and I love it
Thank you very much! Plenty of explores to see 😀👍
Good one, Alex!
Thanks Potatoes 👍
It makes me so mad that nothing it getting done to stop the erosion from the sea!
