The Cadillac has the best sound hands down. The BMW and Porsche sound typical WEC business as usual, and the Acura sounds like an angry fast and furious refugee
I'd rank them as this: 4.) Porsche - Okay, it has a sound. 3.) BMW - I imagine that thing would screech like an older F1 motor if it revved higher. 2.) Man, that new IndyCar engine was going to sound great! 1.) I'm not an overly patriotic person, but it makes me want to shout, "USA! USA!"
1. Caddie, 2. Acura, 3. Porsche and 4. BMW. I just listened to the new Ferrari testing at Sebring recently and I'm surprised to say BMW is no longer in last. 😲
I'm a Porsche guy so I prefer the 963 in every respect, but I have to admit the Caddy sounds awesome! I like the stealth of the turbos, but there has to be at least one car on track that rattles everyone's bones. The variety of engine notes adds to the excitement and anticipation of watching this race and this championship series. Wish I could've been there this weekend.
I've got to be honest, I just love the fact that they DO sound different! Sick and tired of just about every other form of racing having been turned into basically SPEC racers.
Very cool, thanks for these videos MP. The Penske Porsches sound so smooth, but the throaty sound of the Cadillacs is nice and loud. No matter what, it is so great to see all these new cars and new engines! Reminds me how much fun it was to watch CART IndyCar way back in the 1990s.
I thought I only had 1 favorite but as I heard them more, I've come to really love them all. Here's how I'd sum them up: *Acura ARX-06* : This car just feels like the best of Honda in Audio form. You've got bits of the Indycar notes in there, you've got obviously abit of the F1 sounds in there with the off throttle (in which there really is no better description for it then "Low flying Helicopter") and from what I was able to hear from the onboard during qualifying, I may have actually heard abit of the 07 Super GT NSX in there cranked up to 11 (Something that gets instant approval from the Super GT fan in me). I've always had a soft spot for the engine in F1 because it sounded the most viceral and somewhat feral off-throttle so for me, this is more of that turned up even more and I am here for it. *BMW M Hybrid V8* : It is the quietest of the bunch but it's a good ole race car engine noise. If you loved the sound of the Class 1 BMW DTM cars (Like I did), this should strike abit of a cord with you. Can't wait for onboards so I can hear even more of it. *Cadillac V-LMDH* : This one immediately stood out for me the moment I saw the first test footage of it. With both the Corvette DP and DPI.VR, those felt like cool audio extensions of the distinct and raspy engine notes we've heard for years in the Corvette racing cars from the C5-R to the C7.R. With this though, I was immediately reminded of the Northstar LMP from 2000 (Ironically had a Turbo charged V8 despite not sounding like one, not too dissimilar to the Sauber Mercedes C9 from 11 years earlier). The way it revs and burbles in the low end, it to my ears sounds like a proper successor to that Northstar V8 and does it with style. *Porsche 963* : It feels like a perfect audio connection between two of Porsche's most recently successful Prototypes in the 919 and the RS Spyder. Despite it having the RS Spyder's engine and some of those characteristics, it also is somewhat closer to the timbre of the V4 in the 919.
I was there all weekend, and have to give the Cadillac #1. Not only could you hear that deep thumping V8, but you could feel it also. Porsche #2 for me.
Unpopular opinion: The best sounding car is the Acura. The best looking car is the BMW. The most “put together” car is the Porsche. The most likely to win Daytona is the Acura.
For my ears, its the Cadillac...although the Porsche is not too bad. The Cadi pit lane launch is savage when that V8 ignites! I would love to hear a comparison of the pit lane launches too.
Love the off the off the corner rumble of the Cadillac, ...but the clean power note of the Porsche is so resonating. It's racing baby, lovem' all, especially in through the night.
The Cadillac!! That chest pounding sound, amazing as always. Porsche is a close second place for me. Can not wait to see this race!! Whoever wins is a win for race fans! But…. Go Cadillac!😉
It really depends on what your personal preference is. For me it’s: 1. Acura (reminds me of a modern f1 car which I like though I know their sounds are controversial) 2. Cadillac 3. 963
I would agree the Acura has that F1 whine and the Porsche is more quiet than most, but I think we need to get back to the sound of the 787B from the early 90's. Pure emotion.
This is what the C8R should sound like. None of the European whininess of their turbo charged engines, just an all American sound track to listen to on race day.
The Cadillac is the loudest for sure. The Porsche sounds like it has the same firing order as the Caddy, but the turbos take away from the loudness. The BMW... Meh... Acura sounds nice at full song on the banking. I'd like to hear what the Cadillac would sound like with a Y-pipe and single exit. Btw, I would like to see traction control and ABS removed... You can really hear the Acura leaning on the TC in the beginning of the video. Thanks for this video, Marshall. 👍
The Cadillacs sound the best, with no turbos getting in the way of their exhaust gases. Hooo-ey! And I usually find V6s pretty underwhelming, aurally, but those Acuras sound really good with their high revs; nice job HPD!
I'm a die hard Porsche fan, but it seems to me that it's "missing" that Posche sound. The Cadillac sound like the gates of hell just opened, I Love that sound, the rest of them.....Not so much. Thanks for the videos, keep up the Great Job !!!!
I was there this weekend , the Cadillacs sounded awesome best overall, the Aston Martins had a great sound almost like the Cadillacs, the AGM Mercedes had a great sound and were fast especially that weathertech car , the one Corvette sounded good but it was not fast at all, the Acura was super fast and had a distinct sound , BMW over engineered , the high rev turbo engines sounded great on back straightaway and turns 3&4
From Sound Perspective: Cadillac easily ... V8 Rumble always lets my Heart beat faster! :D But they all have cool sound to it. From Looks i like the Porsche and the Cadillac the most
Honda defintely the most interesting sound of the bunch. Caddilac is loud but doesn't sound any different than any other big displacement V8. Can't even hear the Porsche at all so I'll withold judgement on them.
I've never been a fan of the turbo whine so it's Cadillac all the way for me. It sounds awesome. Love it. Although I have to hand it to Porsche for making a turbo that still sounds pretty good.
Not really a "finessed horsepower sound" guy (namely the Porsche 963), more of a "brute force horsepower" (Cadillac) car guy. Thanks for the treat of sounds.
They all sound amazingly beautiful ! The Porsche looks like really muffled... Still a beautiful sound. The Cadillac smashs them all with its 5.5L N/A V8. 1 - Cadillac 2 - Acura 3 - BMW 4 - Porsche (as a Porsche fan ;) )
Just a small suggestion for future, would be awesome to group them by video segments so one could easily share it. (not sure if everyone has access to that YT future as an author)
Cadillac is hard to not like, the Acura sounds great, but it really shines on the on-boards, between the BMW and Porsche I would have to go with the latter, from the videos the Porsches seem to have less volume, but the tone I enjoy more
crazy the porsche has the least exhaust and intake plumbing and the deepest if not quietest exhaust note. nice they all have strong variety. high revving, and then an american style thumping, all different, very exciting
1. Cadillac 2. Acura 3. BMW 4. Porsche Glad that at least one manufacturer still uses an NA engine. Sound is superb. Super disappointed by Porsche. Quiet and generic. BMW and Acura are ok but very similar in my opinion. Miss the LMP1 era already. The V4 Turbo, V8 and V6 TDI.
I really like the psuedo-crossplane sound the Porsche's headers make, reminds me of the C8.R and moreso the Ferrari 458 GT2 of the past. However, I'm an American who adores both classic protos and Crossplane V8 sound, so it's an easy Cadillac W for me. This one sounds a little less aggressive on the exhaust or tune than last year's car but seeing an NA V8 at the highest level of sportscar competition to me sends a powerful message about what motorsport is about: Artistic Presentation, Brand Identity, and a full sensory experience
Definitely the Caddy for me - love old school thunder. The Porsche has a bit of a whistle to it on the high banks that makes one imagine some fearsome fighter plane incoming.
The Cadillac has the best sound hands down. The BMW and Porsche sound typical WEC business as usual, and the Acura sounds like an angry fast and furious refugee
Hahaha 🤣 love it
...Seems about right
❤️Acura❤️
The Acura sounds like an 80s V6 Turbo F1 car. Love it. The Cadillac and Porsche sound great too!
The Cadillac sounds phenomenal. It almost has a Nascar sound to it.
They probably modified a Chevy NASCAR motor
@@jacoblangston4765 not a nascar motor, 5.5 DOHC v8
Since it is a crossplane v8
I love the variety and am happy that they all exist. Honestly, I like all of them, but the Cadillac is my favorite sound.
I'd rank them as this:
4.) Porsche - Okay, it has a sound.
3.) BMW - I imagine that thing would screech like an older F1 motor if it revved higher.
2.) Man, that new IndyCar engine was going to sound great!

I could literally feel the Cadillac downshifting into one. It was awesome.
Caddy wide open but the crackle on acceleration from the Acura is awesome
I've got to be honest, I just love the fact that they DO sound different! Sick and tired of just about every other form of racing having been turned into basically SPEC racers.
The Cadillac, SOUND OF THUNDER!
None of them sound bad but that Cadillac is in a league of its own. I love the sound of it leaving the pits, man it sounds angry
Couldnt't agree more each car sounds awesome but that Cadillac makes mean noise's
The Acura is underrated ngl in person that car sounds like a more aggressive Indycar
@@floppa933 I would love to hear it in person!
@@tiederemo3273 yeah, I love it
I could listen to that NA V8 all day. Pure Music.
I'm a Porsche tragic through and through but... That Cadillac sounds gorgeous!!
They all sound great but the rumble of the Cadillac takes the cake
That Cadi sound is orgasmic.

That Caddie almost sounds like a NASCAR. Glorious.
I was there all weekend, and have to give the Cadillac #1. Not only could you hear that deep thumping V8, but you could feel it also. Porsche #2 for me.
Well IMO nothing beats an NA race motor so easily the Caddy. But really need to hear in person, or more clearly in a video
I like that each car sounds distinct. This will add a whole new dimension to spectating.
Acura sounds like an IndyCar. Seriously, take the video and pitch the audio up 20%, it's almost indistinguishable.
The Cadillac V8 is soooo good but there's something about the volume, pitch, and tone of those Honda V6s that is just so right.
Probably would be different hearing in person and feeling the pressure wave, but these clips and I’d rank them:
1. Cadillac
2. Acura
3. Porsche
4. BMW
Jesus that Cadillac sounds insane. Not just the engine tone but the up and downshifts as well! Monster!
Overall-- Porsche, such a resonant sound. The Cadillac does have that lower pitch which is also nice.
The Cadillac is the best obviously, but it's nice to hear the differences.
Unpopular opinion:
The best sounding car is the Acura.

The most “put together” car is the Porsche.

Cadi gives me chills and just drowns out the turbo cars. But the Porsche v8 and the whisper of those turbos is also wicked.
Caddy sounds like an airplane on the high bank. Porsche sounds awesome, too!
1. Cadillac
2. Acura
3. Porsche

The cadillac and porsche sound the best hands down
yeah the Caddys sound mean and the Porsches sound evil.
The Cadillac!! That chest pounding sound, amazing as always. Porsche is a close second place for me. Can not wait to see this race!! Whoever wins is a win for race fans! But…. Go Cadillac!😉
The Cadillac Sounds very similar to an Australian Super Car. The Acura Definitely has that Indycar Ancestry in its power unit.
It really depends on what your personal preference is.
For me it’s:
1. Acura (reminds me of a modern f1 car which I like though I know their sounds are controversial)
2. Cadillac
3. 963
The Porsche is remarkably muted. Should translate into less driver fatigue.
Let’s go, Porsche!
Cadillac with its Iconic American Thunder. 👌🏼✨💪🏼🇺🇸🏁
Don't have to watch and I already know the Caddy wins the sound comp 🤤
That 963 typo gives me nostalgia
Great video! Thank you so much for putting it together!
Definitely here the IndyCar in the Acura’s sound
I’m old school. N/A Cadillac sounds best by far.
I’m old school too my dude!
#GOCADILLAC #ROLEX24
ACURA & Cadillac >>> They sounded like STARWARS Podracers! ... 🙏 Thank You So Much The Racer Channel for sharing! 🌍
1. Acura(sounds incredible)
2. Cadillac(nice distinctive grunt)
3. BMW(Could be better)
4. Porsche(I thought these were supposed to be race cars)
Loud doesn’t necessarily mean fast. The Porsche may surprise you
Coolest sound: Cadillac by far. Normally aspirated engines always sounds the best since turbos dampens the sound.
Acura and Cadillac Sound amazing. The German Cars Sound like they are Ashamed of noise ! ( I am German)
I would agree the Acura has that F1 whine and the Porsche is more quiet than most, but I think we need to get back to the sound of the 787B from the early 90's. Pure emotion.
The Acura sounds so “Honda” even though it’s not an I4 … it’s got that high revving tone that all Hondas need
Honda (North America)
That Cadillac man
America!!!
This is what the C8R should sound like. None of this European whininess, just a good sound track to listen to during a race day.

Cadillac, Acura, BMW, Porsche... Unfortunately I'm a Porsche fan.😂🙈 Luckily this is a race, and Porsche are incredible racing cars.
I'm a BMW FAN, but the Cadillac is the BULL in the ring!
1, Acura

Acura sounds like an indy car, Cadillac sounds like a Nascar and idk why bmws always sound like wind blowing 😂
Even as a Porsche fan, I think it is a no-brainer: Cadillac for sure.
I can imagine when U close to it, the soundwaves shaking Your thorax. 😊😊😊
Honda defintely the most interesting sound of the bunch. Caddilac is loud but doesn't sound any different than any other big displacement V8. Can't even hear the Porsche at all so I'll withold judgement on them.
I've heard that the Porsche was BoP'd so it revs lower, since it was very much audible at Sebring testing
I'm so pumped for IMSA this year. It's gonna be good!
I've said it before Cadillac sounds so freaking awesome can't wait for Saturday even though we won't hear it the same come race day.
Cadillac Jack! I grew watching the turbo Porsches of the '70's so that's a familiar sound, BMW, then Acura.
I've never been a fan of the turbo whine so it's Cadillac all the way for me. It sounds awesome. Love it. Although I have to hand it to Porsche for making a turbo that still sounds pretty good.
