The artist is not working with music because it would ruin his concentration. I watch many other videos with no background noise and it really helps to focus and appreciate more the work. Wow.. thank you for the video. I finally know now how to use the leather to smooth the rim. You actually holding the leather against your finger tip, rather put the whole stipe on the rim. And in regards to the trimming, why I only got debris, rather than the long ribbon. Does that mean the mug has been dried for too long? Or not enough time. Thank you.

One question, would the mica show up if fired in an oxidation kiln? I only have access to an electric kiln, but I love the look!

The mica of this mug appears only by "reduction firing".
Oxidation firing does not break the film of white slip, so black dots do not appear.
There is also a method of reduction firing in an electric kiln, so please try it.

As for the white slip (mud), it's just white clay dissolved in water.
The concentration is appropriate, but it is slightly darker than the glaze.
The expression changes slightly depending on the thickness of the slip.

sry just pop up another question while watching your video : is there a specific reason or history (only in 志野焼？）on why we would like to apply the white slip before 素焼? why not just 素焼 and then apply the glaze directly?

つい最近ほぼ独学で陶芸を始めたのですが、すぐ困り果てUA-cam検索した時に、先生の動画に出会いました。
痒い所に手が届くきめ細かいご説明に、あーーこれを聞きたかった〜！とまたやる気が出てきました。
本当にありがとうございます！！
粗練り、菊練り、土殺しは先生の動画見ながら何とか出来る様になりまして、次は初めての作品にマグカップを作ってみようと思っています。
そこで質問させて頂きたいのですが、
この動画で、マグを削るタイミングは、成形してからどの位の時間を置いてますでしょうか？最後裏に印鑑を押されていたので結構柔らかいのかな〜？と思いまして。
あと、マグの取手は、成形したらすぐマグ本体に取り付けてよろしいでしょうか？
お忙しい所恐縮ですが、お手隙の時にでもご教授頂けると幸いです(^ ^)

マグカップを削るタイミングは通常の高台削りのタイミングで大丈夫です。
時期にもよりますが,私の場合は正午に制作したら、翌日の午前中には削っています。
夜は発泡スチロールにひっくり返して入れておき、蓋はせずに放置します。
翌日の午前中には削り頃になると思います。
マグカップは取っ手を付けなければいけないので、乾燥しすぎると取っ手が付けにくくなり、接着面にヒビが入ることが多くなりますので、いつも削っている硬さよりも「少し柔らかめ」位で削れると良いと思います。
高台削りの後に取っ手を取り付けます。（取っ手は最後に接着です）
取っ手のデザインを考えてあげると個性的な作品がつくれると思います。
失敗も沢山すると思いますが、失敗は経験値を上げる大切な事柄です。
少しずつ上達して陶芸を楽しんで下さい。応援しております。(^^)/~~~

Please, when you use an iron oxide to decorate your work what is your formula? Is it simply water and oxide or does your mixture include clay? What are the proportions please?
When I use iron oxide, I basically mix water and iron. Clay is not mixed. In Japan, iron oxide paint called "Bengara" is on sale. In addition, there is a raw material called natural iron oxide (ONIITA).
The black dots in this video work are mica. Mica is used by mixing it with clay.
Is that possibled to have same result if the temperature is oxide?
Mica does not come out in oxidation firing.
I think that there will be no black grains on the whole and it will be white.
no, Mica can come out in the atmosphere of oxidation, my craft is casting with the plaster mold.
In my case, oxidation firing makes the mica buried under white makeup and difficult to see.

What clay are you using in this video?
The clay I use is the one called “Karatsu” in Japan. Grain mica is mixed with clay and used.

素焼きの前に白化粧土を掛けるのはなぜですか？

生掛けしている理由は、白化粧土が「生掛け用」だからです。
化粧を掛ける生地の状態と、化粧土の状態を同じにする必要があります。
（違う状態の白化粧土を掛けると化粧土が剥がれたりします。）
素焼き状態の器に白化粧を掛ける時は、白化粧土がパウダーの時に一度「仮焼」してからスリップにします。
分り易く言うと、素焼きに掛ける場合は素焼き状態の白化粧土を掛けると言う塩梅です。
それと、生掛け（素焼き前の乾燥状態）で掛ける場合は、生地の水分量で化粧の濃さ（乗り具合）を調整出来るためです。
粘土に水分が多いと白化粧土は薄くなり、反対に乾燥が進んでいると厚くかかります。
また化粧土を掛けた際の流れ具合を調整して、景色とする事も可能です。
生掛けに化粧土を掛けると崩れるリスクも多いですが、それをもってしても素焼き状態のモノに掛けるよりは雰囲気が良くなります。
長くなりましたらご参考まで・・・。

私は左手が不自由（小児麻痺）で使えません。右手だけで粘土をごねたり菊煉をしたいのですね出来ません。出来るなら希望の光を見たいので、行える方法を教えてください。無理な事でしょうか？

右手のみで作陶するのは基本的には手びねりが良いと思います。購入状態の粘土であれば特に練る必要がないのでそのまま使えます。また粘土をこねる必要があるときは、粘土を紐状にしてそれを半分に折り、また紐状にするを繰返すを粘土をこねれると思います。空気が入らないように根気よく何度も繰返して下さいね。
作陶しにくい事も多いと思いますが、頑張って下さいね！応援しております。
@@kiraku-pottery 心温まる返信ありがとうございました。買った粘土で小さな作品なら電動ロクロで作ることが出来ました。高台を削るのに邪道かも知れませんが、電動ロクロの上に（たぶん外国製）中心合わせ機を噛ませ、回すと作品に取手が寄ってきて作品を中心に合わせくれる機械を使って高台を削っています。…菊煉やちょっと雰囲気のあるシャモットや、わざと近所の土を混ぜてみたいなぁと欲を言いました。でも、陶芸って幸せになれるものですね！キラクさんの配信、楽しく見させて頂いております。…紐の方法や左手を添えて練り頑張ってみます❣️ありがとうございました😊

削る作業の中心を合わせる装置は便利そうで良いですね！
基本的に使っている陶芸粘土に10％位他の粘土（土）を混ぜても大丈夫だと思いますが、篩に通して砂利などを除いてから混ぜると使い易いと思います。
色々と試行錯誤して満足いく陶芸ライフを送って頂くことを願っております。
