  • The majority of visitors to this channel take sertraline and the questions I am asked often cover side effects, how long until it will work and whether it will make you happy. I am always happy to answer these questions, but what I realised is that many people are desperate for non-technical information about Sertraline in a manner that is easy to access and easier to understand. So, I wrote a book. Well to be precise, I wrote an eBook. It's covers just about every query you might have about taking Sertraline from the perspective of someone who has taken it, had ups and downs and to some extent, recovered.
    Book Contents:
The Science of Sertraline - so you can understand what antidepressants are doing to your body and brain.
How to prepare for your first dose.
    The Sertraline withdrawal process.
Every frequently asked question I could think of.
    The side effects of Sertraline.
    My story of Sertraline use.
    Video Library.
Tools I used to get better.
Woven throughout is my own advice and anecdotal evidence of mental health recovery. I've even linked research papers for those that want to dig a little deeper.

never made any comments before aa im a bit of a dinosaur 🦕. Really and didn't even know how lol.
Been taking 50 mg of sertraline for a little over a year and have found Alex videos extremely helpful especially early on in the journey when my anxiety was through the roof.. his knowledge and transparency really have helped me to cope with my mental health and anxiety to the point where my attacks are so few and far between and if it wasn't for his encouraging videos, I could have easily given in taking sertraline. Top bloke, thanks

I’ve been taking Sertraline for almost a week. I’ve noticed a really positive difference in my mood already, but I’m very concerned because I’ve read that it causes weight gain in a lot of people. Does anyone have experience with this? If so, do you mind telling me exactly how it made you gain weight? I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you! 😊

I think Zoloft made me gain weight for a couple of reasons. One is just because I felt better, and I had a higher sort of _baseline_ of what felt good. Eating food makes me feel good, but on Zoloft I didn’t get the extra satisfaction from eating because, well, the Zoloft is taking care of those feel-good moments now, thank you very much. So I would just eat more until I felt that old level of satisfaction, which means I had to eat more than before. I guess I’m just saying I really craved food even more. Zoloft also messed with my metabolism slightly; it slowed me down. I didn’t mind, because I was happy all the time, but it was noticeable.

Hi - hoping you can help me out. I've been on Sertraline 12.5 mg for 3 days. I don't think I need it. Do you think I would suffer withdrawal symptoms taking it for such a short time period?

It would be unlikely to be prescribed antidepressants if you didn’t need them but if you decide not to take them - firstly talk to your GP and make sure an alternative approach is explored. Stopping after 3 days shouldn’t cause too many issues as you can’t really taper down from such a small dose. If you want to half dose for a day or two that might help.

I’ve been put up to 50mg per day of sertraline for a week now after 4 weeks on 25mg and I’m starting to feel more anxious and a bit depressed again I’m hoping this will settle down in a week or so and it’s just a side effect of an increased dose I’m only starting week 6 of sertraline but I must admit I’m feeling a bit worried that they won’t work for me ….. is this normal to think this at this stage?

everyone's different though for me it was nothing short of hell for around a week, then literally like flicking a switch, it just went away. All I did was cancel all my plans and lived in my bedroom and the toilet for a week. After this period I felt great. By far the best decision I could have made

For a very short period. Maybe 2 weeks. I worked on mindset and stopped thinking about performance and things worked out. I had no long term issues thankfully.
