Please, never stop using the take out box for the facts. My girlfriend literally said "why does he keep looking at his food and not eating it?" And I'm dying laughing
My brother was autistic and used to be obsessed with this game; we’d both play it for hours on end together. There are so many quirky details and things that happen that it’s worth playing and giving your 100% attention to. The guys missed so many little things in this play. Like the fact that Klaymen’s trousers fall down if you don’t do anything for a while, but when that happened, nobody was looking at the screen.
I’m glad you found common ground with your brother. I never played Skullmonkeys, but after watching this, I could see myself getting a little obsessed as well.
Hot Fresh Fact: The Neverhood team did not intend to make a direct sequel to the Neverhood, but Steven Spielberg (head of DreamWorks Interactive, and champion of the original Neverhood) only backed the side scrolling game if it was made into a sequel to the original Neverhood.
This absolutely gives me "game I play at grandmas house that becomes formative but i can never remember the name of and can't describe to anyone" vibes
I like how Ashton picked up the bullet on the first level. Immediately fired it off, collected a couple more along the line, and everybody promptly completely forgot about bullets 😅
As someone who has never skipped the intro I'm moderately disgusted by the existence of those that do, it's like when you find out someone doesn't wash their legs in the shower
there are ppl who dont wash their legs in the shower?? you're right, i am moderately disgusted by those ppl as well...and the into skippers, of course.
I’m so fed up with people saying that it’s “dirty” not to wash your legs in the shower. I don’t need to wash my legs in the shower because when I pee it just runs down them and sterilises them.
The red ball you jumped through has nothing to do with the room where the Lil' Bonus Room plays; at the end of some stages you just get a choice between a couple of different sub levels with the red one being tougher. Also, getting hit while using the Pharthead just returns you to where Klayman was left without losing a life (you're not invincible when using it).
This game was my 1st ps1 game I owned and had fallen in love with Neverhood series to the point that I even own the autographed album by terry scott taylor (2disc) and Doug tenNaple did the art for earthworm jim as well
Hey team, I never thought about how skipping the intro would affect the channel. What other sorts of behaviours do you see from yoru viewers that have an impact like that? For instance, I've disabled my adblocker for you guys, but after the first few seconds of an ad, there's often the option to skip the rest of the ad - do you still get the ad revenue if the ad is skipped when youtube allows it? It would make for a really ploppers video, but it'd be really good to hear from you guys: What can we, as viewers do or stop doing to help the success of the channel... Maybe something for the podcast? Keep up the good work!
Seeing the look on Ashton's face after Ben said she gets to pick the next one, I don't think she's going to be playing nice with her choice 😂 Cheers from Canada! Been fans of you guys through NAME REDACTED and Vidiots and you guys continue to entertain so thanks for all the awesome content over the years
I grew up playing the PC game, I never knew it had a sequel! I’ll have to check this out, very cool it’s different from the point & click. The art style and weird feeling it gives it was made the original so cool
I found the game by chance at my uncle's house who had a ps1 back then, from the moment I started the game I played like crazy, as I was losing I was getting better until suddenly I finished it
I LOVE this game. I do have a massive problem with Doug TenNaple as a person, but he was involved in some absolutely fantastic games (Earthworm Jim, Neverhood, Skullmonkeys, Armikrog).
co-signed on all of this. the dev team on Earthworm Jim 3 had to go out of their way to say that Doug was not involved will not be seeing profits from the game, which is the only reason I'm looking forward to it. The Neverhood and Skullmonkeys soundtracks are absolutely wonderful though, start to finish.
In the artists defense, the list of _good_ 3d platformers is pretty short when compared to the massive number of terrible ones. Especially in the early days for every Mario there was a Bubsy, a Shrek and an Earthworm Jim. Even today you run into Balan Wonderworld and have to wonder if that guy wasn't kinda right.
I’ve never heard an actual explanation for why it’s called a “cold open.” My best guess is that the audience is going into a show cold since there’s no opening title sequence to warm them up. For decades they were called “teasers” within the TV industry, which makes more sense than “cold open” because their primary purpose is tempting the audience to stick around.
Omg those skull monkeys are just the thing from the David Tennant era of Dr who on the episode with cybermen and that guy who accidentally info stamped himself and thought he was Dr who. There's literally a weird Beasty in that episode that IS a skull monkey.
My real name is Dan Amos, so hearing you say that band name was a surreal moment. I heard about this band way back in school when I googled myself instead of doing my IT classwork.
Oh man I've wondered if Neverhood would wind up on here. Randomly got it in a pack of disks and that whole concept was beyond bizarre to young me. Pretty sure I put it away after soft locking it in a "eat clay fruit and then burp" sequence
I actually liked it. You're right about it being a real pain in the ass when it comes to difficulty. I was a lot better at it in the 90's I was 11 or 12 at the time. Wasted a summer flipping it. The 90's were weird. Everything is goofy or sorta dark. I always thought it had a Tim Burton-esque look to it.
If you bounce on a skullmonkeys head 3 times in a row without touching the ground klayman does a funny action. This also happens if you jump on the checkpoint bird 3 times without touching the ground.
This game was my go to game when I was 7. Played it nonstop along with heart of darkness and some other game I've been trying to remember the name of for the past 20 years. It was a kids game, that was a party brawler i think. Not sure if it was tag team or 2-4 players and you just fought each other on little platforms/levels, and all the characters had similar bodys/arms to Rayman but were all little kids i think aha
Watched you guys since what culture. Genuinely my two favourites.. Have stuck with you since, but always skip the start, I'm ashamed to admit it. But you caught me off guard and i did watch it this time. Haha, it's a great intro though, everything you guys and girls do kicks ass. All my love and gratitude
Dear Triple Jump : There's a thing called sponsorblock. That may be the 1% who are skipping specific parts. It has user submitted sections of "to be avoided" or "none content" which auto skip. I ran it for a bit but realised I missed alot of content.
I didnt know there was a sequel to The Neverhood, but I never managed to complete the first game. Didn't know what I was supposed to do after a certain point.
I have a question Triple Jump. Why do you put helpful information fun facts in tiny writing up in the corner of the screen that is word for word what is being spoken, as it appears?
Managed to get this game at a discounted price. I'm quite enjoying it! The game isn't actually all that difficult or long, but there are a lot of easily missable secrets. Shame it'll probably never be rereleased - CURSE YOU EA!
13:30 So, no Self Love Club despite Ashton even wearing a T-Shirt with literally saying that? Aahhhwwww maaaaaan, colour me disappointed! Such fake foreshadowing!
Was this made into a TV show or movie...toys? I know I've seen these characters before. Maybe from advertising in Game Informer magazine back then or something.
"An old school approach of making games very hard" - runs into stationary enemy. Seriously, those are some basic jumps and that's not being nasty, just stating a fact.
Regardless of the fact that the skullmonkies freak me out, the claymation is super cool and unique to see in a game like this--I only know of one other that does that kind of thing--and I like it because of that.
There’s been several games that extensively used claymation (or a similar process) over the years. ClayFighter, Claymates, Trog and Primal Rage all spring to mind.
Please, never stop using the take out box for the facts.
My girlfriend literally said "why does he keep looking at his food and not eating it?" And I'm dying laughing
😂 love it
Cause they are still full from that Cluckin' Bell Prove It.

I am autistic and I love it to
I'm not retarded, but like it as well.
Finally, someone else who understands that claymation looks delicious
Hot Fresh Fact: The Neverhood team did not intend to make a direct sequel to the Neverhood, but Steven Spielberg (head of DreamWorks Interactive, and champion of the original Neverhood) only backed the side scrolling game if it was made into a sequel to the original Neverhood.
That IS a fun fact...oh, you didn't call it that...that is a FUN fact!
There can only be one neverhood
Watching Ashton contemplate a career change in real time was intense.
This absolutely gives me "game I play at grandmas house that becomes formative but i can never remember the name of and can't describe to anyone" vibes
I like how Ashton picked up the bullet on the first level. Immediately fired it off, collected a couple more along the line, and everybody promptly completely forgot about bullets 😅

there are ppl who dont wash their legs in the shower?? you're right, i am moderately disgusted by those ppl as well...and the into skippers, of course.
Or people who stand to wipe.
It would be rough being a youtuber when it seems like most people have the attention span of a chipmunk
I’m so fed up with people saying that it’s “dirty” not to wash your legs in the shower. I don’t need to wash my legs in the shower because when I pee it just runs down them and sterilises them.
@@tylarjackson7928 buy a washcloth and stop skipping the intros ya cretin

The soundtrack to Skullmonkeys is superb.
Worm graveyard is where it was at.
Hey team,

Keep up the good work!
A pity we never got a proper Neverhood 3 or literally whatever gimmick Klayman had to put up with.
There was Armikrog!
Spiritual sequel Armikrog, as mentioned above
I understand this is definitely of a certain vintage but this gives off big Trap Door energy
"There's something down there" 😂
Ah - yeah - i see what u mean
Wow, they did something super crazy with the intro. Everyone should watch it and not skip any so you don't miss it.
Y’all just unlocked a memory with this one lol
“A bad man fell from the sky” I remember playing this one.
Seeing the look on Ashton's face after Ben said she gets to pick the next one, I don't think she's going to be playing nice with her choice 😂 Cheers from Canada! Been fans of you guys through NAME REDACTED and Vidiots and you guys continue to entertain so thanks for all the awesome content over the years
This made me nostalgic for the days when EA's logo didn't make me cringe.
I grew up playing the PC game, I never knew it had a sequel! I’ll have to check this out, very cool it’s different from the point & click. The art style and weird feeling it gives it was made the original so cool
As kid , neverhood games were one of my favorites. Thank you tripple jump!
I found the game by chance at my uncle's house who had a ps1 back then, from the moment I started the game I played like crazy, as I was losing I was getting better until suddenly I finished it
That was certainly weirder than most.
I'm going to have that bonus room song stuck in my head for the rest of the day.
The song and the cut to their reaction was so good, crying 😂
Skullmonkeys is amazing! I have a translated version of the neverhood on ps1 as well
I would love to see Ashton play Katamari Damacy
Totally
I use to live this game as a kid. My sister and I would play it all the time. This and Blasto were the 2 games we played a lot oh and Abe's oddworld.
I LOVE this game. I do have a massive problem with Doug TenNaple as a person, but he was involved in some absolutely fantastic games (Earthworm Jim, Neverhood, Skullmonkeys, Armikrog).

I actually never skip the intro because it is good
That game over screen brought back so many memories I almost choked up a bit. My and my sisters and cousin would play this all the time as kids.
Certainly a fitting game for this series!
Hmmm was that bonus room song featured in any other game? I know I've heard it but I've never played this game...
The lil' bonus song pales in comparison to the The Neverhood theme; that theme gets stuck in your head for weeks!
I never skip the intro because I love that song
Peter:Hello!
Ben:Bang
Peter:Are You Listening!?
Ashton:I’m Doing A Murder!!!
Me:😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Omg those skull monkeys are just the thing from the David Tennant era of Dr who on the episode with cybermen and that guy who accidentally info stamped himself and thought he was Dr who. There's literally a weird Beasty in that episode that IS a skull monkey.
That musical number from the end might have actually melted my remaining brain cells.
3:52 - when Ashton mocks Krogg's screaming it sounds like an inkling girls death voiceline from splatoon..
Ah yes, the Lil" Bonus Room song. That song has caused more thrown controllers than any rage ever could.
Here's a little bonus room, 'cause I know you had it tough
Peter again shattering the Hot and Fresh Facts Box. He has to be so weird like that.
They also seem so deflated emotionally the end of it.
Ashton look legit numb at the end lol
What a fascinating game. Great graphics, awesome cut scenes.
The whole ball-wazoo back and forth gives me life. It's like me and my mates.
I actually liked it. You're right about it being a real pain in the ass when it comes to difficulty. I was a lot better at it in the 90's I was 11 or 12 at the time. Wasted a summer flipping it. "oh, it's the same year I was born"
Make us feel old Ashton 😱😅
Ashtons laugh at 12.19 is not normal...🤣🤣
For some reason "some sort of land shark" just sent me 😂😂😂. This whole thing was just so funny, thanks for cheering me up!
We the people need more BCU, along with Tiny Peter the Snyder cut, maybe some Ashton Netflix specials
This game was my go to game when I was 7. Played it nonstop along with heart of darkness and some other game I've been trying to remember the name of for the past 20 years.

I was half way through high school when Ashton was born...
I'll just crumble to dust in the corner now.
Nice Phantom of the Opera reference from Ashton.
Ben: Bam. Bam! _Bam!_
Peter: Are you paying attention??
Ben: _BAM!_
Ashton: I'm doing a murder! :D
I wondered where the boingboingboing went. I sorta miss it, it was a very satisfying noise. xD
Y'all are such dorks. I'm so there for it. Keep it up you 3.
I imagine claymation would taste like marzipan for some reason.
Mazapan, I can confirm they do indeed.
I played The Neverhood to death. This game as great too.
That is actually how Doug TenNapel actually spells TenNapel.
This is probably my favourite Weirdest Games episode so far, great work guys.
nah...the Playboy Mansion still GOAT than most
Dear Triple Jump : There's a thing called sponsorblock. That may be the 1% who are skipping specific parts.

19:01 confirmed Ben gets eaten by Peter.
One of my favorite games of all time
No idea who's out there skipping a short intro (or any intro but thats me) but lovely jump things as always!
Doug Tennapel created Earthworm Jim btw.
Great game, but hard as heck
if you want something thats pure insanity, check out Boombots for the ps1. same dev, and just the weirdest cutscenes
Incredible cold open. 10/10. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This would've been great for 3ds port. The clay style stuff looks awesome with 3d effect.
I rented this game from blockbuster when it came out..... I'm so old.
I have a question Triple Jump. Why do you put helpful information fun facts in tiny writing up in the corner of the screen that is word for word what is being spoken, as it appears?
I used to play this at a friends house way back when! The beans haha I can't believe I forgot about this game
I like this format. It's the new Curb your enthusiasm
This made my night guys, much appreciated.
Ashton realizing during this video she took the wrong life choices will never not get me
Managed to get this game at a discounted price. I'm quite enjoying it! The game isn't actually all that difficult or long, but there are a lot of easily missable secrets. Shame it'll probably never be rereleased - CURSE YOU EA!
I still have this . with neverhood and boombots.. Klaymen needs a return
Since you asked nicely, I sat through the intro twice
"An old school approach of making games very hard" - runs into stationary enemy. Seriously, those are some basic jumps and that's not being nasty, just stating a fact.
He's not actually reading the facts from a a piece of paper?... You just broke kayfabe, Peter.
Yoooo love this series as always
Beans beans the musical fruit
My wife and I love and regularly play skull monkeys. Great game
EA Games. It's in the...Sport?
Well this certainly qualified for weirdest games lol. The game reminds me of the video clip for Ding by Seeed.
Me and my skunkey
Skunkey doesn't wear any pants
I was not ready for the Abengers.
So many good memories with this game.
R.i.p Gus 11:26
Now that It Is Beans Time is official TripleJump canon, when shirt?
You should all play the original game (Neverhood) - it was pretty cool.
i like how ashton looks from the sides, she has
like a cute mouse face
