Well that just nails their dynamic, actually. I just watched Mask of Light for my uh, UA-cam job... and these two really do have a convincing friendship, it holds up surprisingly well. As a long fan of Bionicle AND this song, this was a weirdly delightful surprise
I really wish we got more media based solely on the matoran and their day to day. I could totally see a Surfs Up type mockumentary with the matoran working really well with just random Toa action hero stuff happening n the background and being treated like "Oh yeah this just happens sometime, anyway look at the weird error on this disk. Do you think it's worth something?"
Just have the events of the movies or the great cataclysm going on in the background. Chunk of Voya-Nui breaks off and falls into the ocean, the Matoran on the surface looking on going "well shit..."
"Why because I'm not wearing a flannel in fuckin 80 degree weather?!" A Ta-Matoran would probably consider 80F downright chilly considering they live in a volcano on Mata-Nui. With Takua being an Av-Matoran, he'd probably be super uncomfortable if he did that, even if he's gotten used to the volcano too. 10/10 joke.
