Actually I use max 10 tools, extrude, bevel, move etc, best thing you can do is to practice, over and over, even if you don't know the tools just try to copy my tutorials, eventually you willl get use to them.
Great video, but is there a reason why you did the UV unwrap method to apply the bump to the sides? I would have just used the texture with a frontal projection from the side of the tire. This would be much faster.

In the UV exhibition section, did you choose the option uv unwrap, is there a shortcut button, or where can I find this option?
Are you atalking about UV layout, if so it is on the top right, change layout to UV.

Yeah you are right, cubic or flat would be faster and easier, I just wanted to use/show bodypaint .
