- Here is a quick run-through of the tablature.
This video was made in response to a customer who ordered one of my gigs at Fiverr.com: www.fiverr.com...
If you liked the tutorial and are trying to learn a song or a passage from a song, consider checking out the gig! Thanks!
Why give Robert Plant credit for if we’re a Carpenter. He doesn’t own it he copied it.The genious behind this great song is Tim Hardin.Listen to him singing it at Woodstock and his guitar work is exceptional.A master musician and singer.
I used to run a service on Fiverr.com where customers would commission me to do tutorials/breakdowns of songs. The customer for which this video was created specifically requested the Robert Plant version of the song. Hope this helps resolve your confusion.
Less talk and play the f_ __ing song bro!!!
Difficult to interpret if singing is not accompanied with guitar. Please consider that.
Wonder if you realized that you talked seven minutes straight not playing at all and even after mostly just talking not playing. If you just played one time through the whole song it would be more useful. I think you just recorded how you learning this song not for audience.
Correct, that's what this video is for. I see you didn't read the description, but this was created for one client who commissioned the work. I put it online as a courtesy so others could learn from it. If you don't find value in my videos, you don't need to watch. Thanks.
Ryan. I’m looking at learning the Original Tim Harden “If I we’re..” Can you show me how?!
Cheers from England!
same chords.. standard tuning and then google " if I were a carpenter , chords and lyrics. Tim Hardin was mostly strumming
good luck
Who ever wrote the song !! So Ryan it's by Tim Hardin. RIP 1980
Great lesson - gave me a good idea on where to start with this song - Much appreciate you putting this up...and learning it! This is on my MUST LEARN list -= lovely song and sound
I don’t understand how to order tabs. I guess I’m missing how to find it.
Maybe he tuned A=432HZ?
Ryan I appreciate your explanation... but really it would be ideal to hear you actually play your impression. Other than your details please direct to your recording of the same details.... otherwise .. not much use to me
+Amsmarle Thanks for your comment. This video is not meant as a performance, and I do not have a video of myself performing the song. This video is a beginner-level tutorial for other people of how to play the song accurately.
Really great lesson thank you. How can i get the tab?
Talking about a tab but I can't find it in the comments?
Tim Hardin wrote this song way before you were born, check him out.
Yeah, yes thanks it a Robert Plant song. Hahahahaha
Hey Ryan, awesome job! Can I get the tab from you?
I had the same effect and I thought it was me,I actually ended up more like a D# and it sounded OK.
Thanks Ryan!

Good lesson. Is the GuitarPro file still available?
Hi Ryan - great lesson but where can I find the tab? Thanks, Robin
.....good ear for that tuning........
You are so right about the tuning!
How do you tune that guitar into D?
You mean tune it into "D and a half"? lol, well for me I use my ear for everything. So I played the song through speakers, and just listened and tuned the D string until it was in tune with the song, then tuned the rest of the guitar around that string.
