5 years seems pretty good by modern standards. I do agree though part of it is that these older models spun at a lower rpm meaning a much slower wear rate. They are quite lacking in user conveniences though.
Bagged vacuum cleaners are more greater for your health than bagels
It's not necessary to put any oils on the brushroller. They're called felt bearings and are meant to be ran without lubrication.

New vacuum cleaners today don't last long like that thing does i had 5 year old Hoover that just went out
