All we fish is 6th Sense gear. While searching winter jig fishing I came across this video will be spending a whole day out on ten mile lake here in Oregon and will be using everything you just said to hopefully catch my first January bass
Going out to get me some more black/blue jigs in the morning. Water around here is already hitting the 50 degree mark in my part of the river. Thanks for the tips!
Lighter jigs, 1/4oz finesse jigs with even smaller creature bait trailers, fish slow, those shallow fish will get affected that much more by the cold water.
yes but you can fish frogs just as effectively on cheaper rods, the more expensive rods are for techniques where sensitivity is more in play like the jig, not trying to sell you anything just trying to save you money if you're looking specifically for a frog rod bud
@@isaack4046 sorry man I'm in NC not at Lake Fork. If you're able to fish at a bridge you could definitely get on em. Not sure about y'alls laws/rules about bank fishing at bridges. Good luck!
Awesome video buddy I love fishing jigs I got a 8 pounder last year when it was December on a Jig and I love 6th sense lures thanks awesome information
Stryker Adrenaline for most Texas conditions, Stryker Evolve for the last two days lol. I've got my adrenaline suit ordered from Stryker and on the way, and I will be getting an Evolve as well for the extreme cold days soon!
Awesome video Billy! Very well explained brother, while you're explaining these techniques please remind people that these big fish are a precious resource! Please take only what you need, or take a picture and let them get even bigger for someone else next time! 🎣
Thanks for the fast response, you Da man. Time to upgrade rods and reels some I have had for decades, the jig rod is a All Star SJ2 time to pass it down to some younger fisherman.

Really great break down. It's wild how different the jig bite is here. Deep football jigs during the winter here. 20-60 feet deep.
60 feet is the very deepest point on lake fork lol. a lot of lakes around here don't have 60 feet anywhere.
My dude is on a row this week!!
This is one of my fav techniques and no one explains it better 👍
thanks so much bud!

@yourlakeforkguy broder would you recommend that rod for walking frogs like the vexan or a smaller size?
yes but you can fish frogs just as effectively on cheaper rods, the more expensive rods are for techniques where sensitivity is more in play like the jig, not trying to sell you anything just trying to save you money if you're looking specifically for a frog rod bud
