  • I wanted to make a video to compare both the 103CI Harley Davidson Twin Cam motor in the 2015 Road Glide against the new 107CI Milwaukee 8 motor in the 2018 Road Glide. We did a few highway pulls in Mexico to see which one is faster. Make sure you browse the channel and subscribe, as always, thanks for watching!

I'm reading all these arguments. I have a 2016 Road Glide and love it. I could care less which one is faster. If you had to try to keep up to Harley's engines and upgrades you'd go broke trading them in every year. If you have a 88, 103, 107, 114 my advice is to get on it, ride safe, be proud and enjoy the brotherhood Harley has to offer!! A Harley Davidson wasn't make to be a crotch rocket!!

Great analysis I myself have a 2014 Street glide shrine 103 high output and my buddy the 107 M8 . Both black and chrome. There really isn't much in it . He's obviously has that more get up and go and would probably hit 100 that bit quicker but all in all negligible.

I once got my 103 Road Glide Ultra to carry my 280 pound body over 105 mph very quickly and it still had more . Even if I had the 117 It wouldn't have mattered ,105 mph is fast enough. I prefer a safe comfortable eyes everywhere ride . The 103 is more than enough for me . Riding a bike is a whole lot of fun when doing it safely.

We had the same out come when my dad and I raced. He has a 2014 103 street glide and I now have a 2018 107 Road king special. The first time racing he had aftermarket exhaust and I had stock. He smoked me every time, in every type of race. After I installed a set of aftermarket exhaust it even out the outcome. When we race now, it comes down to who gets the best start and who hits the best shifts. With that said mine is still getting broken in. It now has a little over 7k miles, where as his is probably around 15 to 20k miles

This is just one of those things that if you just have to have the newest and baddest bike you can afford just do it! I have a 06 Electra glide Ultra Classic with a big bore 95 SE Cams VH ovals with true duels and mapped with a Power Commander well I have no problem keeping up with and even pulling on most of my buddies newer bikes so I just can't justify starting over with a new bike and making all those payments again. It's so nice to have a beautiful older bike that most people think is still fairly new. So keep those old H-D's clean and running good and you can enjoy them for many years to come.

Here we are about 5yrs later and I gave my beautiful 06 Ultra Classic to my nephew who was honorably discharged after 17 years of service because of all his injuries. Now I have a 2020 Ultra limited 114 that I bought privately a year ago that had 6k on it and its 100% with stock mufflers. This is my first bike that hasn't been modified in any way and it was killing me to did into it but I fought it because I couldn't stand that after a day on the road my ears would be ringing all night and I couldn't sleep from the ringing. I would love to just Cam it and tune it with the stock mufflers to make some low end torque and wake it up passed 4200 Rpm because that stock cam really drops dead after that. Any idea's?

Ya, these basically only have a stage 1 on them, Stage 2 requires a new/upgraded cam. Regardless of the mistake, they were honestly both pretty close in performance with not a huge difference visually. The M8 will obviously out perform but it’s nothing to write home about. I have a M8 107 with a Stage 2 (Torque cam) and you can tell the difference when it jumps off the line vs a Stock or Stage 1 when I race my buddy who just has pipes on his bike. I’m looking to get a Road Glide with the 114 and I want to put a Sleeper Kit from Zipper Performance in it, that’s my goal hopefully by the end of the year. 🤞🏼😎🤘🏼

Stage 2 is cams bud, stage 1 is exhaust air cleaner and tune, something worth mentioning is the 107 doesn’t really gain much in stage 1, when you put a cam in an M8 you’ve got 105-110 horsepower. You have to do beadwork, compression, big bore and cams to get that kind of power from a twin cam.

I leave him in the dust every time. M8 motor loves higher RPMS, where the twin cam prefers mid range. I have a 06 nightrain with a 97 kit, cams and tuner that leaves 103s in my mirrors every time. M8 has that scissor gear. That's why it sounds like a Honda. Even with aftermarket pipes and cams. I remember when everyone said no to the evo after the sound of the shovel. Then the twinkie came out and they missed the evo sound. To this day i think the evo with 1.75 drag pipes sound the best. But again, sound is subjective.

The M8 engine makes way more power across the RPM range. It keeps pulling past 70mph unlike the 103 that runs out of steam around 65. There is really no comparison between my 114 vs my 103. And my 2012/103 was 100lbs lighter (RG vs RGU). If I do the same upgrades to each bike I would easily see 30ftlbs more torque over the 103. And the cases don't need to be split on the M8. The cylinder heads have 50% more flow vs TC that pretty much says it all. 8 valve vs 4, better cooling, 5qt oil sump vs 3. After I get some miles on the 19 It will be getting the 128 treatment. The engine is beautifully balanced, some people are actually bitching about that lol. But the crank won't fly apart when it's laying down 145ftlbs. No BS, go check out Fuel Moto..

4ci is not much at all in the grand scheme of things. At that point the lighter bike and rider wins. Those are only stage 1.. with that it all depends on how well the exhaust, intake and tune does for that bike. What's each bikes dynoed out to now? Maybe the 103ci made more power do to a better performance upgrade selection and tune? Either way 4ci is not really a significant difference to make a whopping difference. With that, the M8 will run cooler, smoother and when you both get into stage 2 or higher is when you will see the 107ci start to really show its gains.

Overheated, typical compensator went out, valve issues. 110s run too hot. I have a another buddy with a 103HO and beats him everytime. He's pist because he wanted to be faster than everyone else. People fail to realize that a 110 isn't reliable. He's stuck with the bike for 2 more yrs. He wants the 103HO now lol. I still have the 09' SG with the slow 96er and he pulls from me everytime but not that much to justify spending that much. There's a reason why Harley stopped making the 110 quickly. To each their own i guess. Im not a fan of the m8 or the 110. I think the 103 with a stage 2 should be fine until Harley gets their sh*t straight. My 2000 Deuce 95 inch build takes on the 114 easily. Great video good footage.. interesting results. Thanks a lot for this video..
Nonetheless as we know it's the rider ... that would make the difference as to who's faster... in turms of ripping around the twisties or blasting around the coast !
The twin cam and the 6 speed are a great combination that's for sure.
    Is the m8 better ?
    Time will tell !!
    😎
