Another great one from the 70’s. Keep them coming.
Thanks Lee! I am so glad you enjoyed it. There may be another 70s tune coming very soon...keep an eye out 😉💜
Best song !!!!
Glad you liked it honey 🤩🧡
this reaction is sweet
🤩 Thanks Mr Tantris. I see what you did there 😉💗
Glam Rock 1971 to 1976 best music ever
I love Sweet ! .. Such a fun band, but they could really rock too .. They started out with a bubble-gum music sound, but gradually became more hard-edged .. The first hit to hint at their heavier style ( while still being very pop ) was 1972's "Wig Wam Bam", which is one of my faves ..But their magnificent "Fox On The Run" from 1974 is just sheer pop / rock perfection, and is IMHO by far their best song !
Hi Wayne, they are fun and can rock. I don't know wig wam bam. I will have to check it out. I agree, Fox on the run is a fantastic song. That is my favourite by them too. I like Love is like oxygen as well...a little different from them. Thanks Wayne. Have a wonderful day 🤩💜
@@playitagainsue Oh yes Sue, "Love Is Like Oxygen" was just about their last big hit, and it's one of their very best .. As you say, it was a bit of a different style, but a ripper song ! .. Cheers, Wayne
"The Ballroom Blitz" was inspired by an incident on 27 January 1973 when the band were performing at the Grand Hall in Kilmarnock, Scotland, and were driven offstage by the audience throwing bottles at them. Andy Scott ( lead guitarist) is the only remaining original member of Sweet. RIP Brian Connolly lead singer, Steve Priest bass guitarist and Mick Tucker drummer
Hey Cabdriveruk, I had no idea that was about them. That must have been quite the night. I wonder why the audience got so violent toward them. They were such a great band. Yes it is a shame all but one has left us 😢
I'm only 44 and I love this tune!
Hey Alpine, I am so glad you are into this tune. It is great. I hope the generations below us all grab onto it as well. It is classic! 🤩
I was introduced to this song in the movie Wayne's World! I was hooked!
Hey Cassandra, that is cool. I have been introduced to many songs through movies. I love it when that happens. It is a really fun song. Thanks for tuning in 🤩
Saw them in concert in the late 70's at the Palladium in NY...they opened for Journey....amazing show
Hey JT, that must have been a great show! I bet you had a great time 🤩
FUN SONG CHOICE!!!
Hey Kishka, glad you enjoyed it! Nice to hear from you 🤩💜
Moving right along with you girls!!!
That was a fun one for sure, Sher. Glad you liked it 🤩💜
Epic song, Sweet!👊❤️🌟🙏👌
Amazing classic 🤩
Iam absolutely lovingly your reaction ladies fabulous.....try slade now ......a must !!!!!!!!!
Hi Baltic, thank you so much!! Will do 🤩💜
@@playitagainsue slade are British band 2 massive in the 70s...
I saw these four when they got their eighth vaccine shot together! Really joyful.
🤣
I remember this when it was released, makes me feel old 👵, unsure what happened to the group, not heard much from any of them, but had quite a few hits in the 70's Glam Rock Era along with Marc Bolan who you'll probably enjoy with T-rex
Hey Sandra, I know. They had a number of hits and then just disappeared. I really don't know much of their back story so I am not sure why they stopped recording but they left us with some great songs, like this one 🤩🧡
Andy scott still going strong the other 3 members have passed away
Hello ladies. I was 13 and welcome to Glam Rock. Isnt it great xxx
@debbiebatten6088 Hey Debbie, it sure is great...awesome sound and so much fun 🤩💚
You 4 are fantastic❤❤❤❤
Thanks Giacomo 🤩
@@playitagainsue you are very welcome ladies
I was 13 when I first started listning to thier music. And never stopped till they seperated. Then Brian died. Unfortunatly signing the future of the group. A real pity
Just think. I used go around with a boom box thruogh the high street playing thier music. People looked at me maybe thinking ( is he crazy? ) 😂😂😂😂
@@giacomotroisi4618 haha you weren't crazy! You just had great taste in music 🤩
I always loved this song. This is from "disco", one of the few German TV shows we had in the 70s...
Hi Mipo, thanks for letting me know. I wondered where it was filmed. It is such a great song 🤩
@@playitagainsue You're very welcome 🤗
1st time watching you girls. and loving it. this song reminds me of maybe Black Betty by Ram Jam or smoking in the mens room by Brownsville station love to see what you come up with next.
Hey Ply-yt thanks so much for your kind words. I appreciate you tuning in. I put a new video out everyday. Thanks so much for subscribing 🤩
Brian Connolly the lead singer died in 1997 as a result of kidney and liver failure and repeated heart attacks. He was 51 years old. Mick Tucker died in 2002 and Steve Priest died in 2020.
Wow, so young. Sounds like Brian had it really tough...poor guy. Did he live life pretty hard or was he just really unlucky
@@playitagainsue Yes, he had drinking problems
@@SweetSickan poor guy
This was a fun watch, reminded me of when friends come over and we listen to music of our generation. We actually did a Sweet review of all their popular songs. What struck me most about the band is, how are these guys not bigger and more of a household name? The musicianship of this band was top notch for that era. You can also tell Sweet did have some influence on other bands, based on their musicianship and sound. Speaking of friends coming over, last week we got together and the topic was the top 10 greatest Canadian songs that are Bangers/Anthems. Here is what we came up with:
Rush - So many but we settled on Free Will
Triumph - Hold On or Magic Power
April Wine - Roller
The Kings - The Beat Goes On/ Switchin’ to Glide
The Guess Who - American Women
Prism - Ammagetddon
Jerry Doucette - Mama Let Him Play
Trooper - We’re Here for a Good Time
BTO - You Ain’t seen Nothing Yet
The Tragically Hip - New Orleans is Sinking
HM - SAGA - On the Loose
Would love to hear your list Sue.
Hey Jason, I love that you made a list! Ok give me some time to think about it and I will give you my list but you named some great ones!
Sweet is much bigger in the UK where they are from. They had way more hits there than here and they were defo a house hold name there. But they shouldn't have been way bigger inNorth America. They are great. 😎💙
@@playitagainsue Actually we came up close to 20 songs but narrowed it to 10 (we didn't rank them though). Might be a fun discussion with your friends. See what we got right and what you'd replace.
@JeromeDukes ok, Jason, I loved many of your choices especially Triumph, The Kings, Saga, BTO, Jerry Douchette
Can't really narrow down too much but here are some other anthems
Workin for the Weekend - Loverboy
Spaceship Superstar - Prism
Might as well Go for a Soda - Kim Mitchell
The Weight - The Band
Summer of 69 - Bryan Adams
Keep on Rockin in the Free World or Cinnamon Girl - Neil Young
Rock Me Gently - Andy Kim
Home for a Rest - Spirit of the West
Could Have been a Lady or Bad Side of the Moon - April Wine
Fly at Night Chilliwack
Spirit of Radio Rush
Echo Beach - Martha and the Muffins
One Fine Morning - Lighthouse
Born to be Wild - Steppenwolf
Money City Maniacs - Sloane
No Sugar Tonight - Guess Who
Big yellow taxi or Case of you (mellow anthem) - Joni Mitchell
Black Velvet - Alannah Myles
Ok I will stop there. That has to be well over 10 🤣🤣
Let me know what you think. These are not ranked either
@@playitagainsue We tried to chose one song per band and for the most part some of on your list were mentioned but we could only choose 10. I would definitely have to bump one song from our top 10 for The Weight (how the heck did we forget that). Believe it or not Bryan Adams wasn't even mentioned (WTF is the matter with us 🤣😂🤣), yeah we may have to bump a song for him as well. Other bands from our list you didn't mention are:
Spoons - Arias and Symphonies
Great Big Sea - Ordinary Day
Loverboy - Turn Me Loose
Kon Kan - I Beg Your Pardon
Gino Vannelli - Wild Horses
Oh BTW good on you for getting Liighthouse, we were racking our brain trying to remember the band name. Yeah they are fire.
React to Blockbuster by Sweet and Cum On Feel The Noize by Slade
Thanks Deborah. I will add them to my list 😀
Sue, Nina Hagen used to sing this song live but she, unfortunately, never had this one officially released on an album
Hey Kyle, I bet she rocked this one! This is right up her street 🤩
@@playitagainsue definitely, write down on UA-cam BALLROOM BLITZ NINA HAGEN ROCK IN RIO , the best performance live in Rio back in January,1985. ❤️🍫
@@Kyle_heringer Excellent! Thanks Kyle 😎🧡
I was enjoying that until I remembered the ear scene……
