One of the most exciting bands of the 1970s, from the glam rock era. They were excellent musicians. You definitely know what you're talking about and you do this in a very calm, relaxed, pleasant way. Love the review!
Mick was taking the piss, because Top of the Pops made everyone mime or lipsynch, that's why the crowd were laughing and everyone applauded. Steve (bassist) used to chew gum for the same reason. But they were a fantastic live band, and all as you spotted extremely talented musicians, they ran the gamut of every genre during their career, from bubble gum pop to thrash metal.
You should have watched the original version. On this one they were told to lip-sync which is why the drummer beats the drums with his hands. He was not happy with this decision.
I love them they're from my childhood, I just wish that they were alive today and still gigging like the Stones cause I'd defo go and see them. Only the great Andy Scott has survived to this day and I wish him well.
It was the fashion of the day so not brave at all. It was called Glam Rock. They played much heavier rock a couple of years later, which I preferred, but this early stuff was fun.
You should watch the official video. This was them on a British show called Top of the Pop & they make the groups lip sync. The group was pissed off. You can see the lead singer make some mistakes. The drummer is pissed off & throws his drum sticks & eventually the drum.
Got to love the Sweet, other great songs by them are Blockbuster, Fox On The Run, Wig Wam Bam, Hell Raiser and Love Is Like Oxygen all amazing songs from this much underrated band
Now there’s a blast from the past! Sweet were the first concert I went to when I was 14. We went and lined up at the ticket office as soon as they went on sale, my Dad had to come and buy them for me. Same for The Jackson 5. I’m showing my vintage now aren’t I?
There were a few like this at the time.like Mud ( Tiger Feet) and Wizzard ( See my Baby Jive ) They all dressed up crazy but my God they gave you a good time Great reaction Rad
@@RadJarrettTheIntrovert Kiss, Alice Cooper, and the later 'Hair Bands' were all influenced by the Glam Rock genre. The Glams were primarily British and the style mixed in a bit of androgyny with glittery flamboyant satin outfits. Watch some T-Rex, Gary Glitter, or David Bowie in his Ziggy Stardust phase. Freddy Mercury was certainly influenced. You might even say the Grunge Music scene that emerged in America in the mid-80s was a counter-reaction.
This was one of my favorite bands back in the day . They had a tonne of hits . What they are wearing here is toned down compared to some of their outfits . Steve Priest (Bass Player ) caused a controversy when he went on top of the pops (TV Show) dressed like and acting like a Gay Nazi . He also made it cool for guys to wear hot pants . Lol
The guitarist is Andy Scott. Brian Connolly (lead singer) died of young (51) essentially of complications from his chronic alcohol abuse. Drummer Mick Tucker - widely regarded as one of the best rock drummers of all time, also died young, at age 54 in 2002. Tucker died of Leukemia. Steve Priest (bassist, backing vocals) passed away last June, at age 72
@@RadJarrettTheIntrovert Which is why I mentioned it...LOL! Love ya man! You may want to take a look at the official video for this tune if you think these outfits are a tad strange...
@@RadJarrettTheIntrovert try one of their album tracks to get them at their real best. Set Me Free or No you Don't from their Sweet Fanny Albums are a good place to start. Great channel by the way :)
Thank you for noting their musicianship, they were good, if you delve deeper into their music beyond the hits you will see why many of the metal bands of the ‘80’s credited them as influences, they were hard driving and talented

The Sweet, Slade, and Queen, and loads of funny songs, meant the 70's were great fun. Remember laughing at Murphy and the bricks by Noel Murphy, and My Brother by Terry Scott, and Camp Granada by Allan Sherman, Tie me kangaroo down sport, The court of king Caractacus, and Jake the Peg by Rolf Harris, O'Raffertys motor car by Val Doonican, and One piece at a time by Johnny Cash. It only has an acoustic guitar only and jd plays it very well. It's the story of crazy horse and the plains indians through their eyes. There are parts where he uses the language of the souix people but not to the extent that you can't understand what the song is about. It tells of crazy horses life from a child to his death at the hands of union soldiers and continues through his spiritual journey. It's very factual and emotional. If you do the reaction I recommend the live version at Saint Louis. A side note... jd is wearing a t shirt with the sleeves cut out. That t shirt says k-she 95 on it. That's the oldest rock station in America and is in st. Louis missouri. Under the words k-she is a pig with head phones on thats pigs name is sweet meat and is k-she's mascot/logo
