There are certain words to describe the emotions I've felt while listening to Olafur, a calm, a peace, a sadness, a stillness, a sorrow, a poem, a love letter, a lost love, lost hope, finding peace, knowing God, understanding, reconciliation to the world! I felt it all I've felt it all! I feel it all!
The first time I saw Olafur live was the day my Nanna passed away. I was in Germany, she was in Australia. Of course, he had to finish the set with "Song for Grandma", didn't he? I bawled my way out of the theatre.
I was fortunate to watch olafurs show at the royal albert hall a couple of years ago to launch Re:member - he had family and friends and record company filling the Audience. When he played that song as an encore im pretty sure both Oli and the whole crowd were all in tears. It's one of the most beautiful moments I've ever been a part off.
stuart barclay same thing for me. The most beautiful and heartbreaking moment I’ve ever experienced at a concert. Just a stunning conclusion to a wonderful evening. Left me speechless and devastated in the best way.
Olafur Arnalds is probably one of the main reasons why I've matured as a person. His music helped go through difficult moments and by the emotions he conveyed throughout his compositions, he helped me realize that sadness and loneliness are not the only emotions, but parts that should leave a significant mark in on your life the same way happiness and joy leave a mark. Thanks for all the help.
Jesus loves you, and is here for you. “Now, therefore,” says the LORD, “turn to Me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning.” Joel 2:12
I am so pleased that I saw this beautiful man and listened to his mesmerizing music at a small club in Moscow back in 2012. We were all sitting on the grass floor, it was so silent during his performances until he starts a small talk in between, and every time he speaks you feel like he's touching your soul pure and gently just like his music. I've had a great and fun time. I asked him if we can hug each other and he did, and I keep this moment deeply in my heart to this day.
Oh, find everything you possibly can to love, and like in this world, and share it...Spread the love, spread the liking... Even when you feel miserable think of something you like, and show your smile to a stranger.
We lost our beautiful neighbor to covid yesterday evening. This brilliant concert is helping to bring me out of tearless, paralyzing shock and for the first time away from the overwhelming darkness that has shaken my soul . . I am grateful. 🌏🌘🕊
This must be an incredibly difficult time and I cannot imagine what you are going through. There is a website that gives some guidance on how to deal with grief. But, grief is the most painful of all emotions. Whatever method you choose, I hope you are able to find comfort and peace. www.psychology.org.au/for-members/publications/inpsych/2011/dec/The-psychology-of-grief---applying-cognitive-and-b
"There are many kinds of sadness." Wow, that makes so much sense to me. I wish there were words to name these different types beyond, grief, depression, etc. We need more subtilities....
I have restored the original front door to my 1871 farmhouse listing to Ólafur Arnalds. I find his carefree yet intentional songs inspirational to the progress of my otherwise quiet craft. I hope you may all be inspired to create something in this world of ours. Safe travels
I put on this concert for the first time, thinking i would listen to it while doing things around the house. I sat in my chair spellbound. As the first piano notes were played over the audience’s voices tears rolled down my cheeks (not of sadness or heart break or even joy, just for beauty, and that he enabled everyone there to be part of creating it). What a powerful effect this music has, and what a gift artists such as Olafur give, who choose to direct their talents to such lofti purposes. I hope he enjoyed some well deserved rest after this.
He is truly emotional, creative and beautiful. I've been to his concert in 2019 in Istanbul. I remember the jokes about Turkish bath and his heart filled with love when he was playing Lag Fyrir Ömmu. It's just impossible not to fall in love with him.
I can’t believe I saw this, after all these years of crying to his music my heart was beating out of my chest. He plays so effortlessly and is so humble. Seeing this all live played on instruments I don’t know it just makes it so much more special and maybe touch less heartbreaking.
Ólafur seems like such a down to earth person, and he's funny as well. Loved his jokes lol. Listening to this performance was such a beautiful experience. I wish I'd be able to see him live someday. I will always be grateful to my friend who introduced me to his music.
There's something magical and enchanting about music like this. It's simply more than just a master piece. Perhaps, somehow i feel every note of this music deeply synthesises with our deep emotions.
Every time I listen to Ólafur's music, I close my eyes. And only then do I move to another world. A world of peace, a world without aggression and enslavement. Into a better world !!
There's a lady in one of the shots who also has her eyes closed. Vision is very noisy - its why we've used sensory deprivation to attain altered states of consciousness for millenia!
I hope to have one day the chance to see Olafur Arnalds in France....His music is so magical, impregnated of his country, like a dream in black and white...the first day of the world where the nature wake up
Like when rain drips on the roof of a house, silence flows through the windows, like tears on my face, music that washes away sorrow washes the soul, so tender, thank you
Listened to Only the Winds, while playing Warhammer Darktide. Felt like i was the last hope for the empire of humanity. as if the music could speak for ogryn, which lacks the knowledge of many words. at the buildup towards the climax, i was the last man standing, desperately trying to fight my way through litreral chaos towards a wounded friend. i made it to him fought his enemys and helped him on his feet right at the moment the conductor unleashed bliss into my headphones with a gesture of his hands,... it was so memorable, i had to take a break and write this.
Love the fact he interacted with the audience so well, it felt like he was talking to a friend. Amazing performance!!! Every video I see of Ólafur makes me enjoy his music even more
I was supposed to work... I like doing it with Olafur's music in the background, but this time I am just freaking sitting with shivers going down my spine. this is Art with capital A...

We are so fortunate to live on the same planet and the same period of time as this amazing artist and musician. Thank you so much for sharing this pure gem.
The first time I have ever heard the music of Ólafur Arnalds............Awesome. Ólafur Arnalds, Viktor Orri Árnasonand and the Sydney Chamber Orchestra deliver beauty, emotion and perfection.
For someone whose music makes me cry every time without fail, he’s quite funny! I’ve been a fan for years but I think this is the first time I’ve heard him speak.
Only the Winds has always been a really impactful piece for me ever since I first heard it on Pandora while on a walk in the woods at sunset (not gonna lie, I broke down crying right there), and there's something about the live version here - and watching the living, breathing orchestra perform it, and Olafur's expressive rapture - that's just breathtaking.
That sounds like a beautiful experience. I know a lot of musicians would feel their music, but their are few musicians i've seen where their emotions come through as strongly as Olafur, especially during Only the Winds.
Cet homme est un génie, sa musique est unique tout comme les émotions qu elle suscite... c est grâce à RY X que je connais Olafur et ils ont élargi mon univers musical . C est un bonheur de les écouter... dans ce monde si difficile qu est le notre. 🙏
i'm from morocco , i don't know if someday i will see like this live , it make me feell like i have wings to fly away . music is such the wordless description to our feelings . i hope someday i can assist to this music .
cheers moroccan fella :D walou, we can keep dreaming someone will be bold enough to schedule such talented musician as Olafur or Nils Frahm. Tired of philarmonic classical concertos. This is beyond beautiful
This interaction with the audience is just amazing....he just asks for a simple C, making everyone comfortable, building what he needs for what's next, and then, the contrast with how they go into the next tune is just staggering. Everything is under control, there has been so many things that went into consideration to that tune yet that it's just rolling, and you go through a fun audience experiment to a fully mastered musical piece...he's tired and want to go home, but we still enjoy what he has to offer sooo much! Thanks for your work Olafur!
Ólafur, I just love what you do and how you create the atmosphere. I love Iceland and especially your music which can catch the precision of every detail in our emotional landscape. THANK YOU. I just love everything.

The last piece for his grand mother was so moving, the sounds coming from the backstagefor me is kind of representing the legacy and history left by the grandmother. I loved the effect it really moved me. RIP et and congratulations.
I went to see one his show last year and I can confidently say it was one of the most memorable moments of my life. Two hours of pure bliss and magic. I hope to see him again when this pandemic calms down and concert halls are open again.
I love your humble and humerous way to take away the drama of your music yet you are one of my favorites when it comes to modern classical music! I love your music. Very exciting! Thank you Olafur for your amazing performance!🥰💯

People out there was so lucky to being there.
This was definitely missing from our lives... Don’t know how to thank you @olafurarnalds
I LOOOVE his natural humor at the beginning oh my god.
Cela traverse le corps comme un courant chaud, ça émeut et ça réveille. Doux, touchant, précis.
The last piece for his grand mother was so moving, the sounds coming from the backstagefor me is kind of representing the legacy and history left by the grandmother. I loved the effect it really moved me. RIP et and congratulations.
beyond talented, beyond humble and beyond funny .... Just love this beautiful soul and his music
