Actually Tracey Ullman when she had her show in the 80’s. She put the cartoon The Simpsons in her show. As small as I was I was probably six or seven years old at the time. I remember the Tracey Ullman show on Fox.
Tracey Ullman hated The Simpsons-skits, she wanted the 'cartoon bits' off her show. When it spun off and became a hit she wanted credit as being part of the success and sued for money. She failed epicly.

kbamm69 Back in the late 80s? How was it like? What did you think about the simpsons at the time? Did you ever expect it to become as popular as it is now? Sorry about the many questions.
Michael Lugo In 1989 in Australia, I first saw a short Simpsons skit before "Turner and Hooch" at the cinema when they would sometimes show a short film with the previews. It was quite bedazzling with its striking colours, distinct voices and edgey humour. I think people were in a state of shock and rapture and were left thinking "What WAS that?? Did I just imagine that?"

She has never gotten enough credit for launching something that two decades later is still going strong, AND she is still as beautiful and funny as ever.
Take a look at the eighties. THere's a reason James Brooks waited for two years for her to have a baby and then come back to work. Nobody else could have pulled off a show like this. Comedy of course is in large part subjective, but Sam Simon has worked with some of the biggest talents around and says that she is one of the all time television greats. The guy may have been nuts, but I'd take his opinion over people on the internet. Even though I often don't find her laugh out loud funny, although I don't find much of anything laugh out loud funny right now. Most celebrities tend to have both big egos and be quite insecure so what is said here really doesn't mean much, but thats kind of true, define what 'credit' actually means. Its sort of like Frazier being a big hit, but you don't give credit to Ted Danson for it. I think she gets plenty of credit without it.

Title of this video is incorrect, Tracey Ullman was never Marge's voice and she doesn't say it here. They just started on her Comedy Show. A little ploy I think to get some views, but fair play it got me to watch!
I remember .. with a big smile, her (Tracy) video for her hit, "They Don't Know"..and one scene in particular where she's driving and as was the fad back in the 80's or earlier, some people had their name and the name of their boyfriend/girlfriend. across the top of their car windscreen. Paul McCartney was in the seat next to her, no dialogue just "Tracy and Paul" on plastic, across the top of the windscreeen.. Great song as it happens and very funny video which still exists on You Tube.
Yes, she does take credit. She hated The Simpsons and wanted them off her show but when they became popular and big hit. She wanted credit for it, so yeah, she does take credit credit that she doesn’t deserve because she didn’t create the Simpsons Matt Groaning did.
Ha ha, makes me feel old that I actually remember all this. (Of course, Tracy wasn't ever Marge, Julie always was, but it's wild to think most people may not know how it got started)

True. She just gave them a slot of a few minutes for the creators to present their show. She never contributed anything besides that. I’m glad she lost that lawsuit.
I did watch The Tracy Ullman show with the Simpsons. I was a fan of her show. From everything I heard at the time, Tracy was not a fan and it was not her decision to have the shorts on her show. She would have axed it. So it is funny to watch her now say nice things.

Im from canada and have no idea what they are talking about and dont want to google and would rather wait for an answer here.
That is a very misleading headline. Tracey is not the original Marge. She just does a pretty good impersonation of Marge.
it's a shame that BBC America screws up the showing of Graham Norton. it's on at 10 no 11 no 12. or it isn't on at all. or we see it 5 months later. But we get The next generation without fail. I don't even watch anymore. I do try to tape Graham whenever I see it on.
Who still uses tape?
+Jack Davids he means to DVR
+Jamie Ramirez or VHS
+Michael Riley - Just be thankful that BBC America does not charge you with a TV tax (£145.00) - like BBC Britain does.
People who still records
James Nesbitt reminds me of Peter Capaldi.
That is incredible that Tracey's own show would be eclipsed by a little skit they had called The Simpsons. No wonder she's worth $115 Million!
I said drr because I forget that most you are too young to have seen The Tracy Ullman Show. Sorry.
He asked her if she was a Creator of the Simpsons and she replied Yes. I don't think that is true but whatever.
+DarkBungleX To be fair she never said anything nice about it she just acknowledged that it was born out of her show 'The Tracey Ullman Show'.
