- Dan (John Goodman) is on the verge of losing the house to the bank and Darlene (Sara Gilbert) is willing to do anything to help. So is Ben (guest star Jay R. Ferguson), and the two of them together have enough, but will Dan's pride let him accept the help? Watch 'The Conners' TUESDAY 8|7c on ABC.
Dan has been ther for all of them...too much actually. Now they should all be there for him.
Dan is the parent, it's kinda his job to be there for his kids. It's nice that his kids reciprocate the favor though
@@isaiahcaston4539 Grow up. Those "kids" aren't kids and havent been for decades. They leaned on Dan and Rosie far too much. It made them weak too long, let them grow the hell up. You might try it too. I started helping my parents as soon as I got out of school. IT made an adult out of me and a success, and I was happy to do it. They sacrificed plenty for us! PS...IT's NOT "KINDA" the parents Job once the kids are adults.
For all the trash talk about this series, can we talk about how awesome Ben is.

@kim ama he probably had to refinance it multiple times for different reasons including paying for Roseanne’s funeral expenses I’d guess. Not to mention he’s probably helped the kids out over the years. The ones living at home should be paying rent and helping with utilities and even groceries. That what I did as a teenager until I moved out. Taught me the value of a dollar and how to budget my money and not be frivolous. I did the same with my kids once they hit 18 while they still lived at home. Doesn’t mean we do t help them when they need it but they’re responsible adults with good credit as a result of learning to pay bills.
Becky and Darlene could at least give him $200 each a month. The extra $400 a month would help and they only lose $50 a week.
They should. But the bigger question here is why is a 75 year old man that is living in the same house he had more than 30 years earlier, still making mortgage payments? What kind of life is that?
@@paulcolburn3855 From the sound of it, there's been 2 more mortgages taken out on the house, we don't know for certain when they were taken out.
@@namaste_charlei I get it. Its just a tv show so its not real life. But I find it frightening that in some cases, 75 year old people have to take two additional mortgages out on homes that they have owned all their life, for any reason. And that does happen. And maybe its not all that rare. But it should be.

Still paying a mortgage 40+ years later is the sad reality for a lot of people. I've been there. Once you get ahead and get some equity in your house, the lender will dangle these home equity loans in front of you. They will plead with you on the phone "Come on, Mr Smith, don't you want to go on a vacation? You earned this." It can be a tough temptation for a lot of people.
Anyone else think Ben should be helping Dan with the Drywall Jobs?

@@dietrichjoanne a 30 year mortgage becomes 50 pretty quickly when you keep refinancing.

My parents are around the same age as the Dan and Roseanne characters. I am also around the same age as the children. My parents bought a house about 40 years ago in a working class neighborhood in Illinois (same state as the Connors). My mom also passed away like the Roseanne character. Our house is fully paid by now. It was a lot more affordable to buy a house 40 years ago with realistic feasible monthly payments over time. The Connors still having a mortgage seems unrealistic.

if you watched the final episode of the original show, it was revealed to be fake and Rosanne was writing a book because, in the original Dan died after having a heart attack

I thought Roseanne paid off the mortgage for dan in a past episode?
That was from season 9. That season wasn’t reality but based on Roseanne book she wrote when they won the lottery.
Roseanne also wrote in her book that Darlene and mark were actually together. But that didn’t carry over.

They probably refinanced at one time. That reduced the payments, but extended it another 30 years from that time.

I have no idea why a guy like Ben would be the slightest bit interested in Darlene. She has no redeeming qualities whatsoever. Loved her in the original series, but can't stand her in this. In fact most of the characters are just horrible to watch and the over obvious PC nature of this show just puts me off.
Add all that to the fact that the show just isn't very funny.
Then stop whining and stop watching clips. Darlene is nicer than you

This show isn’t funny it’s miserable. Darlene is absolutely hard to look at. The content is too sad and depressing. Is this a comedy ?!?!? John Goodman needs to get out while he’s still an amazing actor and legend.
I agree with everything you wrote. I haven't watched since Roseanne was fired. I have seen a few clips from this show and I feel like I need an antidepressant. They all look like addicts in withdrawal. Sarah Gilbert can't act. That is very apparent now that she's older and surrounded by John Goodman and Laurie Metcalfe. She was a natural when she was younger, but I just feel like on this show, she's so preachy. It doesn't feel like the character of Darlene. and what is up with the character of Becky? As I said, I only watched some clips, but they turned Becky into an alcoholic who will sleep with any guy, and now she has a baby. I could never watch this. I don't know why they didn't just change the format from comedy to drama. No comedy to see here.

I'm not saying that Ben isn't a nice guy...he is...I wish his character nothing but the best....but he's not right for Darlene. He also keeps putting pressure on her to have a baby. REALLY? You're living at her parents house and she has two kids and over 40 and broke and about to lose the house...but lets have another baby? Give me a break. He makes more sense with Becky

They remortgaged 3 times and there are so many ways to lose ownership of your home no matter how long you’ve had it this is actually very realistic!

OK I’m officially lost with this series. What happened to all that lottery money that they won? Or is that just part of Roseann’s story that she wrote and talked about during the last episode of the original series?
That was all a dream she made up to deal with Dan’s death. She explains it all in the finale.
This series seems to go off the premise that season 9 never happened at all. Jackie isn’t gay. Mark wasnt with Darlene and Becky with David.
