This is great. As a solo fly fisher just starting out a couple months ago, im realizing now after sinking tons of money into gear how incredibly difficult it is to do thos on my own. Especially in sacramento where there arent super great fishing opportunities. From what i hear fly fishing in/around sacramento really hit a peak years ago and as climate change intensified it really screwed up the good rivers and creeks around here. But you make it look easy, so ive got hope 😊

It can be totally overwhelming. Sailer's Bar can still be good, from what I hear, but I also hear that the American and Sac through town are pretty tough (but keep an ear open for the annual shad run, as that can be really great easy fishing on the American right in town). The American farther north east is a good bet, and if you can get up to and past Redding the Sac is incredible. Other good options are the Yuba and even farther the Truckee and Little Truckee. Don't give up or succumb to analysis paralysis! The best cure is to get out there and fail, fail, fail until you succeed. I really encourage you to pump anglers you meet on the river for info--I do it all the time and I'm always happy to give people info that ask for it. Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any questions--one of the main goals of doing this is to demystify everything as much as possible (I remember very clearly how hard it was for me to get to a point of comfort). Good luck!

#abushinthewoods is there a local Fly Fishing shop in Winters or Vacaville? Having a hard time finding a local shop from Fairfield to around Putah Creek.
I love the content. Keep up the great work.

Not that I know of. The closest that I'm aware of are Citrus Heights (Fly Fishing Specialties), Albany (FishFirst!), and SF (Lost Coast Outfitters). Guns Fishing & Other Stuff in Vacaville has bait and spinning gear, but not fly stuff (at least none that I've ever seen there).

@@abushinthewoods thank you for the feedback. Wish we did have one in the area. I’ll checkout the Albany store the next time I am down there.

@@abushinthewoodsGuns Fishing and Other stuff does have an assortment of flies, but I think they are over priced. There is a Fly shop in Napa.. Sweeney’s, haven’t been there though.

@@GaryElliott-yv9cm Oh, interesting, thanks for the intel. Last time I was in there, admittedly a few years ago, they said they didn't carry any fly stuff. Good for them, it would be smart for them to stalk lines and flotant and stuff.
