We had neighbors who abandoned their cat. We adopted him, and he adopted us. There's NO GOOD REASON TO EVER ABANDON ANY ANIMAL!! We are the only source of love they know!! If you adopt a cat or dog you are saying you will be responsible for them and love them until the end. People depose of pets like they are paper, They don't seem to care these animals have feelings and are living and breathing. Dumping them or abandoning them is just wrong. Though I have to say that if some abusive owner did not dump their little dog on the street I would not have the heart of my life for the last 10 years in my little dog, Charlie. And while he was left traumatized we worked through it and he is so loving and such a joy

I will never understand how some can dump or leave their pet behind to fend for themselves. A year ago I rescued a cat after his owner dumped him in the bush for 6 months. We've had him for over a year now and he's part of our family. We named him Mister cause he's a big cat ,but so respectful to our other furbabies. Funny enough he does look like Rollo!

I just love what Maria did and the idea of giving him his own room where he could come and go as well as medical treatment. That's my idea of animal rescue. Losing that family was probably the best things that could have happened for Rolo.
Maria & her partner are clearly such lovely, compassionate people. Rolo is so lucky they were there to rescue him from his abandonment. He's a very special cat & his heart must've been so broken by his previous owners. What a terrible thing to do to an animal who trusts you. So glad Maria was there.

At the beginning of the pandemic my cat appeared out of nowhere in our block. She was so scared of everything and everyone and would hide on a broken down porch of a nearby abandoned house. We started giving her food and we quickly gained her trust and it didn’t take long till we took her in. The first time we took her to the vet we found out she was already spayed and just needed shots. I can’t believe someone could have such a lack of heart to leave such a lovable beautiful being. She’s so attached to us to the point that she falls asleep with us like a baby. We love her immensely.
So sad. An animal doesn't understand that they've been abandoned. They don't know how to fend for themselves to eat and drink or find safe shelter. Thank goodness for alert and caring neighbors who adopt and rescued these abandoned pets.
I never wished to actually someone track those "people" and shame them publicly for this... I am FAR from what I believe to be a "good person" but break the trust of loyalty a loving bonded cat is the lowest act of betrayal needs to be punished. This one just can't go like that. I'm a cat fosterer in the UK and I can't understand people that are cruel to any animal. One of 'my' cats was thrown from a second storey window because she didn't get along with the new puppy. When she came to me, after months of being alone, she was scared, tired and hungry. She hid under my bed and would not come out at all. I even had to feed her under there. But with time and a whole lot of love she has turned into one of the best cats I've ever had 😻❤😺

This is fully agree with!! I hate that he had to be so dejected, scared, depressed, skinny, and sick...but he found a 1000x more loving and healthy home in his rescuers. twice i had to give up a cat, because I had to change country, it broke my heart both times, but in both cases I found neighbours that we're wonderful and agreed to take care of them. i honestly don't understand how people can just abandon them, they must be terrible people.
This was a wonderful rescue and it's actually very good that those things abandoned him because he is far too good for them. Those things didn't even have the decency to drop him off at a shelter! Rolo is living a much better life now and that is what counts.
Someone in our neighborhood also abandoned their cat (about a year old). She "lives" on my covered porch now in a warm kitty house and seems happy and healthy.

My neighbor left 4 cats when they moved and its been around 9 years ago now.Ive built and insulated houses for them and Ive been caring for them ever since. One still goes to sit on the wall or roof top where she use to live during the day.

To think how hard I have loved my cats and that I would give anything to have another day with the ones who have passed, I just cannot believe that people would abandon their cat like that. I have an old tuxie now and this cat reminds me of him. I will always cherish his company. He ended up at the shelter at 9 years old after 5 years with his owner because the wife forced her husband to get rid of him. It was his cat really, and he is grateful that the cat was able to be adopted and have a new life. Good to see other senior cats have a second chance at life.

I want to give this woman a bear hug! It took so much time, effort, and probably money (dealing with the cat's healthcare) to save this abandoned cat. He would have died alone, hungry, stressed, and in pain without her. She and her bf are so patient with and accepting of Rolo, and they have done so much work to make his life better. Lovely people.

Many rescues are breed specific. You can find a rescue without keeping a breeder in business. Dogs are priceless!

This is fully agree with!! I hate that he had to be so dejected, scared, depressed, skinny, and sick...but he found a 1000x more loving and healthy home in his rescuers.
Shame on the people who hurt his heart and soul. I'm sure they're come up with some sort of excuse/lie to make themselves look and feel better, and it kills me. But that's what bad humans do.

twice i had to give up a cat, because I had to change country, it broke my heart both times, but in both cases I found neighbours that we're wonderful and agreed to take care of them. i honestly don't understand how people can just abandon them, they must be terrible people.

This was a wonderful rescue and it's actually very good that those things abandoned him because he is far too good for them. Those things didn't even have the decency to drop him off at a shelter! Rolo is living a much better life now and that is what counts.

Someone in our neighborhood also abandoned their cat (about a year old). She "lives" on my covered porch now in a warm kitty house and seems happy and healthy.

this made me so heartbroken, i started crying.. that cat did not deserve it. that cat looked so broken and sad. No humans should abandon there cats.. the cat just waited and waited, he never knew they werent coming back. I have a cat that lives outside since his owners abandoned him. its sad, sadly we cant adopt him since we have 4 other cats, and 1 is a boy and they may fight if we adopt him.
My neighbor left 4 cats when they moved and its been around 9 years ago now.Ive built and insulated houses for them and Ive been caring for them ever since. One still goes to sit on the wall or roof top where she use to live during the day.

pets are forever not temporary . pets can love you unconditionally forever. In memory of all my rescue cats that are in heaven. Thank you young lady for rescuing and saving him. 2 years is a long time. Pets are here for a reason.
To think how hard I have loved my cats and that I would give anything to have another day with the ones who have passed, I just cannot believe that people would abandon their cat like that. I have an old tuxie now and this cat reminds me of him. I will always cherish his company. He ended up at the shelter at 9 years old after 5 years with his owner because the wife forced her husband to get rid of him. It was his cat really, and he is grateful that the cat was able to be adopted and have a new life. Good to see other senior cats have a second chance at life.
I JUST bought that fish toy for my cat. She ran and hid under the bed when I turned it on lol. So glad Rolo is doing better.

I want to give this woman a bear hug! It took so much time, effort, and probably money (dealing with the cat's healthcare) to save this abandoned cat. He would have died alone, hungry, stressed, and in pain without her. She and her bf are so patient with and accepting of Rolo, and they have done so much work to make his life better. Lovely people.
