Not everyone makes it to the top without sacrificing their morals there are countless numbers of stories that promote that. Sometimes making it to the top is a blessing because there is not much there.

It is amazingly disappointing at how Karina never popped off the way she should have….I’m wondering if they even really tried with her. I’ve always liked her version of Official Girl much better than Cassie’s. Karina deserved better.

You’ve gotta catch the people’s attention span in this high tech era. Maybe something more catchy. They could’ve marketed her like Ella Mai, H.E.R, SZA etc. She’s as talented as them probably just needed a better team. Stlll could be modest like H.E.R and Alicia Keys but with better songs (radio friendly). Nonetheless a very talented pianist (musician) and singer.

The music Karina was singing was not in mainstream like it was in the 90s and early 2000s. By the time she was trying to be famous electro pop and dance music was all of the hype. The resurggence of RnB or that Trap Rnb came back maybe 2014-2015, which in later years brought Bryson Tiller, -2015, Ella Mai, 2017, HER 2016, SZA - 2018 etc. And Im saying these years as their peak prominance not when they were just starting. Karina Pasian to me had a voice similar to Aaliyah. Sad to see great talent like this not see its true potential. BUt its hard to compare contemporary artist to this artist. The artists youve mentioned probably learned what not to do from careers like Karina Pasian and many others.
People are shallow and why sex appeal they don't care about talent but if somebody is talented and has sex appeal even if the other person is much much more talented the sexier woman will win

Thank you for doing this feature, I had forgotten about Karina, you have some great insight. We know the industry loves to sell sex, I remember for a lot of the groups in the 90s, men included the songs and imagery could be very sexually driven and then you find out the artist are like 17/18(ex. H-Town, lead vocalist Dino was 16 or 17 when "Knocking The Boots" was recorded). I also think it's very hard for women, especially women of color in the industry because I believe they tend to be sexualized early on in their careers and if not straight out the gate then at least by album #2, and you're like wait what just happened?!👀 Probably why It was refreshing for me to see Alicia Keys on the scene because of the many female artist on that train for the 2000s, her and her camp wanted to focus on the music, the writing. So I can see how with Karina and her dad being protective of her image and seeming to stand on their beliefs and her talent alone rubbed some industry folks the wrong way, because we know the industry is full of egos and if they can have an artist that's easier to manipulate the easier it is for them to have that artist do whatever they want. With H.E.R. it seemed to be very similar, she was very aware of her talent and her voice, she sounded mature for a 13/14 year old both sonically and her writing style so the industry was very unsure of what to do with Gabby, she too was adamant about not trying to be sexualized and let the music speak for itself, finally getting a good/solid team behind her some years later she has been able to do that with a level of success that's like you said more on the critical acclaim but it's on her terms, and I can appreciate that. It seems that now Karina is doing it on her terms and though she may not be a big mega star with her talent she's a star that's shining anyway by still releasing music. I wish her the best.☺️
N R Yeah I was in middle school and thought they were like late 20s, maybe mid 20s, but definitely thought they were grown. I think for artist like Dino from H-Town, Karina, H.E.R., young artist with big voices it's easy to try to pigeonhole them into a sound that's way more adult than they actually are. I mean Dino sounded like a full grown man🤣
