What really struck me was how many of these I knew even though I did not "know" them. I was going with my gut on the more obscure ones and getting them right with around a 90% success rate. Presumably because I have seen the capitals on maps and knew the answer just not consciously. Would have done far worse if I had to pull these out of the air.
Others: "I forgot/didn't know Astana changed its name"
Me: "What?? I never knew Nur Sultan was previously called Astana"
It didn’t change names. Astana is a completely different city to the south. Nur-sultan is a man made city in the north with little to no population.
Astana now is Nur Sultan.

My teacher asked us to memorize these country's capitals way back in high school here in the PHILIPPINES. Now that I am now also a teacher, I already forget some of the capitals... Nevertheless I got 43 out of 50.. My memory still serves me.... Shout to ma'am elsa sasuman who told us to memorize all the capitals of each country. 😂😂☺️❤️💪

Yeah I agree with you. I got 47/50 and I remembered most of the cities seeing them on the list. It's much harder when you have no options and have to guess.

49/50! very happy, the only one I got incorrect was the capital of Tuvalu. The Kazakhstan one stumped me too as I thought it was Astana however I had heard of Nur-Sultan and presumed a name change had taken place which I have since found out happened last year. Good quiz. I also wouldn’t have gotten that many correct without the multiple choice, a lot of the capitals I know when I see their names but wouldn’t know from the top of my head!
As a Greek I can't believe that the Cyprus capital city could be an option...

When I was in school the capital of Kazakhstan was Astana (that change its name into Nur-Sultan in 2019), the capital of Burma (now Myanmar) was Yangon, the capital of Burundi was Bujumbura (today Gitega), for some reason books teached to me that the capital of Sri Lanka was Colombo, eSwatini was called Swaziland and Montenegro, South Sudan, Kosovo and Serbia didn't even exist.

@@nicoladc89 same here, that's why we should keep track of such things after finishing schools. The creation of Serbia, Montenegro, Kosovo and South Sudan and and Swaziland's renaming into Eswatini at least were mentioned in the media, but never heard about Kazakhstan changing its Capital City from Almaty to Astana, let alone their recent move of changing their new Capital City's name to Nur Sultan, nor did I hear about Palau changing its Capital from Koror to Ngerlmud (or similar, it's not even an option on my keyboard) or Burundi going from Bujumbura to Gitega. And Rangun/Yangon you at least get, that it's its Capital whenever you're reading it. Sometimes we need to keep track of those things, lifelong learning, you know.
Thanks for an actually challenging capital quiz! These are usually waaaaayyy to easy! I missed four or five, Malta, one or two "stans", a Pacific Island, and shame on me, New Zealand! I thought it was Auckland. Two complete guesses were correct. And I also missed Pakistan, since capital used to be Karache, didn't know it changed. Next quiz? Africa and Pacific Islands only--now that will be hard!
