@Joeteck Just got back from Dover and couldn't hear a blessed thing! I have the RE3000 scanner and the Rugged tethered headset H80. I assume you could hear at Dover when you were there. Thought the Rugged phones with the RE scanner was the problem. Doesn't seem like it based on your review. Any tips?

I bough on the recommendation of this video the headset but, my issue is i guess i have a radio shack scanner Pro-444 and when i plug it into the left ear connection via 3.5mm male to male cable i don't hear the scanner on the headset at all. Do you know if rugged has a list of compatible scanners?

    • @Joeteck

@@cloudplays1 the headsets are mono. The out of the scanner may be on the wrong output channel for the rugged use. Say the scanner outputs on the right. But the headset can only hear from an input from the left. Guessing of course. Only logical explanation of your problem.

Can't compare the two as they are different. The Racing Electronics system allows for tethered intercom which is what the 9v battery is all about. You have to have power to do that. Simple. My comment is mainly directed to Rugged Radios headsets. I bought an H80, went to a race, and it was TERRIBLE for intercom. There was absolutely NO noise cancellation. Even with the microphone all but in my mouth. Compared to the racing electronics headset, where you could hear those users talking without deafening sound, you couldn't with the Rugged Radios headset. Maybe mine was defective, either way, don't recommend them.
I do like what you propose with using 2m/440Mhz transceivers as being tethered can be a pain. AND you can keep talking - even when one leaves the seats. Even for this, I just can't recommend Rugged Radios. They seem to have quality control issues. I'm curious how your noise cancellation worked. I was at a smaller track where noise was constant. Looked like you were at a larger track.
