Excellent job. I've had two local shops tell me they don't even work on Teslas. That goes to show the difficulty and issues they may have run into in the past. I'm having to drive an hour just to find someone who will do it. Hopefully, they do it just as well as these guys.

Did a great job on my Tesla model 3 this weekend! Now I realize the windshield needs a coat of ceramic clear tint as well, so will probably be back soon.
you forgot to mention to not close the doors while you have the windows tricked all the way up. If the doors are closed with the glass all the way up it will damage the chrome trim, I know.....
Yeah my local tint jacked my shit up and cut my glass up when they tried to custom cut the top tint. I have a permanent cut in my glass, and they ordered a custom tint roll to fit my car and still did it in two pieces.
You did a damn good job on this Tesla! I’m very impressed. I got my first look at one of these a couple months ago but turned it down because of the back window. I work alone and felt like i needed an extra set of hands for that window. I think I’ll take on the next one and roll it like you did and use a soak shield as well. Great video! Edit: I’m not sure about that big ass blue max looking squeegee you use though. Edit #2: And I hate that Wagner heat gun with a passion. I gave mine away.

It’s better with two people but can definitely be done by one person. Taking the side trims off and reverse rolling is the only way to go with this backglass.

Supposedly this is due to the ceramic film's absorption of heat and that heating up the rear glass. Is there any truth to this?

Idk man. That soak shield was pushed into the rear panel. You must have got the whole back of the car wet. Doesn’t look right. And all that water got pushed to the side trimming on the roof. Must be all wet too. I will admit your the best so far tinting windows on the model 3 but damn so much water!
I’ve been very interested in getting my Model 3’s windows tinted, as I live in the high desert of Southern California. This is the first full summer I’ve had the M3, so this is the first opportunity I’ve had to feel how much heat really does come through the glass panel roof. I’ve consulted with two different window tinting places here in SoCal, and also directly with Tesla about this - and I’ve gotten three different answers about what’s appropriate for a M3. One place (that said they’ve tinted upwards of 900 M3’s!) said they would tint all the windows EXCEPT the very upper glass panel that I want to have tinted because of the heat coming through to the driver’s area. That, they said, is because applying tint to that one panel could result in some kind of cracking of that panel (for some reason). Another place (T-Sportline here in SoCal) said “Nonsense - you absolutely can tint all the windows of a Model 3. That’s when I contacted Tesla Support to find out what the REAL story is - and they told me they recommend against tinting ANY of the windows, as doing so would interfere with the electronic sensors in the car. So now, I have no idea WHAT the real story is. Comments?
Yes. I believe Tesla just took the safe approach here. You can definitely tint all glass in a Tesla Model 3 (as we often do) with absolutely no interference at all as long as you use a non-metallized ceramic film (which we did here). However there are several schools of thought on the sunroof glass (& on rear glass) tint. Model 3's are notorious for stress cracks on the rear glass & sunroof. One opinion is that by adding a high heat absorbing tint, it can contribute to the cracking since the hotter a glass is, the weaker it is. It will NOT cause the crack itself but it can contribute to it. This is why some advise against using dark ceramic films on these types of windows (the darker the film the more heat it will absorb). However we've done them for customers and have yet to have an issue. Another thing worth noting: A lot of the heat that you will actually feel from the upper windows is heat cause by RADIATION and NOT TRANSMISSION. Here's the difference: Heat derived from solar energy transmission is heat that is transmitted through the glass onto the surfaces below. This is the heat that ceramic film drastically reduces. Heat radiation is the heat that is radiating from a hot surface such as the glass. Tesla sunroofs are made of HEAG (High Energy Absorbing Glass). Adding tint on it does help a little but most of the heat that you will feel from the sunroof is through radiation once the glass gets hot.

Easy window. It's not hard it just looks intimidating. A tip for these cars, when you trick the doors add masking tape to the top chrome trim on the body

Why not do 70% on the windshield to help keep even more of the heat out? Other than not doing the windshield this was an awesome representation of how prep is key for doing a job right the first time.
Awesome prep. Mine is tinted halfway up in the back and it looks fine. Can't see it from outside or in the rear view mirror, so it doesn't bother me at all. Shop did not stock the tint large enough and there aren't enough 3's around here for them to buy it.
@Scott Luther correct, but they have never needed tint that wide, and it was not practical for them to buy a $1000 roll of film for my back glass. Honestly, I like that the top of the rear glass isn't blacked out and you can still see out of it like the roof.

I'd recommend G5 Tint in Alhambra or Pasadena. I've had many cars done by them in the past. Took my Model 3 there a few weeks ago and the work fantastic.

You do nice work. My go to shop in So Ca does so many Tesla’s, they actually purchased 2 Tesla rear windows to do all the prep on work before install.

I saw in another video that tenting the rear windows is causing them to crack due to heat not able to escape the glass.

Can you recommend any tint shops in the L.A. or Santa Barbara California area that follow the same PREP techniques? Love the work you guys do, I’m sure you guys are worth every penny. would really appreciate the help 😊
I'd recommend G5 Tint in Alhambra or Pasadena. I've had many cars done by them in the past. Took my Model 3 there a few weeks ago and the work fantastic.
Looks great! I was wondering how I'd tint it, and what percentage. I'll be on the lookout for the micro-fiber rope from any tint shop I find in San Diego.

Do you see a difference in the roof tinting (front and back) when only in the back a sheet is being placed?
Yes you can see a difference if you look at it directly. Just normal driving you don't notice it
