BEST way to TINT a Tesla Model 3 with Ceramic Tint (FULL ANALYSIS) | Houston, TX

- BACK! In the tint lab today with the GLORIOUS, NOTORIOUS Tesla Model 3!! The proper way to do these cars is by taking the best precautions. Door buttons need to be protected ANYTIME tint is installed on a car so this is why we cover them up with plastic sheetings. Micro-fiber towels are used on the outside of the vehicle in the fender areas where an installer will typically lean on the car while working on the rear window. This protects the car from any tool belts, metal bits, tools from scratching or damaging the car itself. Now installing the film inside: towels & micro-fiber ropes are a MUST. The towels have the purpose of protecting the dash and speakers that may be on the dash. A unique product we use is a micro-fiber rope we wedge in between the glass and the gasket that catches all run-off water from the tint that was squeegeed.
ALL of this precaution plus using our Computer-Cut System software led this install to become one of our proudest jobs. Leave us a comment and enjoy!

Is there a security film that could be applied to to rear quarter glass to stop thieves?
Would your normal film do the job?
(could be a lucrative, fast job?)
@@rogerstarkey5390 Yes. There are Security Film's that can be anywhere from 2x-6x thicker than standard tint. It's purpose is to strengthen the glass.

Excellent job. I've had two local shops tell me they don't even work on Teslas. That goes to show the difficulty and issues they may have run into in the past. I'm having to drive an hour just to find someone who will do it. Hopefully, they do it just as well as these guys.

Killer work. Thermal pass from the 300s to less than 80 is wild. And now I know how the guy at the Tint Shop Idaho Falls did so well on my Sonic LTZ in spring 2016.
I'm currently waiting on the delivery of my Tesla Model 3 and you definitely gave me a lot of things to take into consideration when trying to find a good place to get a tint job. Hell, if no one here has preparation as you do, I might consider driving all the way from Milwaukee to Houston to get it done. 😂🤣😂🤣

Awesome work! I got my M3 tinted and they did a crappy job on the rear glass, half tinted. Not happy. I wish I was closer to bring mine to your shop. I’m trying to find another tint shop in the Baltimore DC area to redo the job like you did

You do nice work. My go to shop in So Ca does so many Tesla’s, they actually purchased 2 Tesla rear windows to do all the prep on work before install.

You did a damn good job on this Tesla! I’m very impressed. I got my first look at one of these a couple months ago but turned it down because of the back window. I work alone and felt like i needed an extra set of hands for that window. I think I’ll take on the next one and roll it like you did and use a soak shield as well. Great video!
Edit: I’m not sure about that big ass blue max looking squeegee you use though.

Lol, the oversize Blue Max we call the Texas Squeegee here at the shop.
It’s better with two people but can definitely be done by one person. Taking the side trims off and reverse rolling is the only way to go with this backglass.

This video is great and shows you guys really know what you're doing. There's been a lot of discussion on forums saying that using a ceramic film on the rear window could cause it to crack. Supposedly this is due to the ceramic film's absorption of heat and that heating up the rear glass. Is there any truth to this?

Yeah my local tint jacked my shit up and cut my glass up when they tried to custom cut the top tint. I have a permanent cut in my glass, and they ordered a custom tint roll to fit my car and still did it in two pieces.
Did a great job on my Tesla model 3 this weekend! Now I realize the windshield needs a coat of ceramic clear tint as well, so will probably be back soon.

Awesome prep. Mine is tinted halfway up in the back and it looks fine. Can't see it from outside or in the rear view mirror, so it doesn't bother me at all. Shop did not stock the tint large enough and there aren't enough 3's around here for them to buy it.
@Scott Luther correct, but they have never needed tint that wide, and it was not practical for them to buy a $1000 roll of film for my back glass. Honestly, I like that the top of the rear glass isn't blacked out and you can still see out of it like the roof.
Looks like this is the only tint shop that actually shows prepping against not damaging electronics or causing needless extra work of getting interior wet/stained from spray
Other tint shops on youtube just spray and prey like they don't give a F because it's not their vehicle
