Thank you Gjeebs I went to Tyler from Dynamic Tint AZ and had my MY2023 PPF and had windows tinted with ceramic plus. He did an AMAZING job. Thank you for your hard work and your down to earth Utube content.
I did 70% ceramic tint on the windshield, two back windows, and the rear window on my Model Y, and 35% on the two front windows. It doesn't match, but I'm fine with that, because I wanted the heat rejection more than the privacy. Plus it's much less likely to attract the attention of a cop. I also work 2nd shift, and drive through some dark rural roads at night, so too dark of a tint would've made it really hard to see. So far it's been awesome. I've driven it through the western parts of the US, and never felt the heat coming in like it did before I got the ceramic tint.
Hi. I am interested in doing the same to my upcoming Model Y. Could you please possibly post a picture of your car tinted in this percentage somewhere? Trying to see how it looks. Thanks!
I tinted my Tesla when I first got it and went ceramic with the best heat rejection. A year later I finally decided to do my windshield too. I went with as clear as possible with highest heat rejection. It has a slight blue look to it but has made such a big difference for keeping my cabin cool. In KY apparently it's legal to tint the front windshield. Tint laws are all state specific.
I wish i would have watched this before I got my tint. I did 15% around the back and back side windows and I literally cannot see out the back window at night but I love the privacy. I also purchased an after market sun shade for the roof glass because it still gets pretty warm (I'm in Texas).
I appreciate videos like this, so thank you. Getting my MYLR delivered soon so this will come in handy. It’s gonna be the first car I purchase for myself & as a 22 year old, I intended on taking good care of it & getting what’s best for the long run!
I used 70% Prime XR+ on my rear Model Y windows & rear hatch, along with the windshield, and then 30% Prime XR+ on the front windows & sunroof. My 30% front windows now matches the 'darkness' of the rear windows, which is what I was going for since I don't like the look of super dark tint and you can't really make the rear Model Y windows lighter. The XR+ really makes a huge difference in So Cal sunny weather.
My tint shop recommended 20% in front and 70% in back to match. Do you feel like your front windows could be darker or are they a perfect match at 30% combined with the 70% rear and factory rear privacy glass?
@@bladerealm124 The roof and windshield lets a lot of light into the Model Y. Most people don't tint their roof and then use 20% tint on the front windows to match the rear factory tint. Also if you have white interior, the darker tint doesn't "look as dark" on the car. I have black interior so tinting my roof darker and also my windshield (mainly for heat rejection) made my entire interior darker. I am so glad I tinted my side windows first thing. I’d really like to tint the windshield too, but heard about it being illegal. However, I am taking notice of other Teslas on the road with them tinted. When I return to my car on a warm day and touch the monitor it is very hot and I live in Orange County, CA. I know AZ is another level of heat as I’ve been there many times. AZ must be the best place to test those window tints for coolness. I love the color of the Pink Pig! I am glad you’re keeping it. Great! Btw, has your baby daughter arrived? The day should be soon!
Getting a 70% tint on my windshield in 2018 was the best change I ever made to my Tesla. The glass was chipped last year and we haven't gotten it retinted yet. Hate it every time I get in the car. The difference in just sitting in the driver seat feeling the sun is VERY noticeable. I'm picking up a 2024 in a month or two, and found a place who carries Kavaca IR film. When I get my new car tinted, we're definitely also going to tint the glass we had replaced in the 2018 as well.
I have the same issue with tinting my back windows… my rear view mirror is useless now, even during the day. I don’t mind it and I’ve gotten used to it and don’t waste time checking it anymore. But makes me really wish there was a better Tesla supported digital rear view. The back window on the Y was already super small so doesn’t make sense to me why it wouldn’t be a digital rear view.
I love my XPEL XR plus, unfortunately I didn’t get to work with Dynamic Tint as I’m in California. But I did tint my Model Y including the roof with the XPEL XR Plus from a local authorized dealer highly recommended!!!
3m crystalline in the light colors is substantially better than any ceramic. It is also 50% more expensive than 3m ceramic. I did my sequoia in 70% crystalline on the windshield and ceramic on the sides in 35%. The windshield feels at least as cool as the much darker ceramic. At 70% on the windshield, i couldnt tell a differnce in visibility at night. No way youd get a ticket.
Thats cute in Arizona.. Us in s***ty Florida can get whatever you want by just signing a waiver at the tint shop! My old Camaro had 15 all around, front windshield was 25. But I was offered some special tint that had metal in it, which also blocked RF signals. This was before ceramic was a thing. You couldn't see inside my car unless I turned on a light. Never got pulled over for my tint!
I never hear anything about roof cracking on Tesla. Is that an early model thing? I have learned that people should consider if they’ll be traveling when choosing to tint. Some states will ticket cars with tint darker than the state allows.
On my black sapphire on black Dakota leather BMW 335, the car would get unbearably hot in the sun. Seat would burn you if you were wearing shorts. Used Panorama Hilites ceramic tint 35 on everything but the windshield and car would be just a bit toasty on a super hot sunny day after being parked in the sun for 7 hours. After tinting the windshield (I forget the number but it was obviously lighter than the side windows) the car was actually cool after being in the sun. Ceramic tint brand counts but picking the right installer is like 70% the battle. I paid top dollar for my installer who cut the film by hand and actually cut the side windows all the way to the bleeding edge (I have a coupe with frameless doors) which I’ve never seen any other installer able to replicate. Absolutely worth spending the money on ceramic tint and a top notch install.
In 2021 the installer told me my windshield tint was clear and ceramic heat rejecting. I went w clear (in Texas) because i drive a lot at night. Watching this video I'm not sure if there is a slight tint on my windshield, or not.
My Mazdaspeed 3 had the ceramic tint from and expel shop in northern nevada. By far the BEST TINT ever. Just got an STI and will be going 20% all the way around and 70% on the windshield. Would recommend just like good ol Geebs here.

@Gjeebs do you use the Model Y’s side view and rear view mirror dimming feature? I found that I leave it off because it can be way too dark with the rear view tint + the mirror dimming. Tesla’s auto-dim feature is also pretty aggressive in my experience.
I have a moonroof/sunroof on my truck and the local tinting shop advised me not tint the top glass or it would crack or maybe he said the other windows may crack. I cannot recall his exact answer, but that sunroof makes me feel like the ant's God is getting their revenge on me - I only did it once when I was a young kid!
Got the fifty on the windshield, and there's no way I can ever go back. I didn't tint my last car, and I just couldn't drive at night, because the glare would blind me; whenever I did drive at night, it was just a constant feeling of imminent death. If I can't get the waiver, or find someone to pass the inspection without it, then I will pay to have it removed, and put back on.
Hola Maestro! great video, been following you for quite a while and your sense of humor is awesome. Quick question, do you have any issues with the windshield being tinted and polarized sun glasses? I know that ceramic tinting can cause some sort of rainbow effects which on the side windows I do not care, but if that is the case on the windshield then I might be problematic. anything you can share about this? thanks man! Daniel
Do you still recommend 35% ceramic tint all around for new Tesla owners? I’m also in Arizona and about to get my MYP tinted. I’ve gone down too many rabbit holes to determine the most effective tint percentage for this record heat 🥵
@@lseguy Anyone tinting for a living is doing it for the money. It's a preference issue. It would be interesting to run a thermal camera on a tinted versus non-tinted roof. It can't be that much of a difference. If you're trying to block out heat, it seems a lot more effective to just get one of those fabric sun shades that snap into place up there.
Just tinted my tesla originally had 20% all around minus 50% on front windshield and it was way too dangerous couldnt see shit at night so switched two front side glass to 50% as well kept the back 20% helps a ton and I can actually see out the glass now lol.
@@alextechtai I did 30% all the way around, except the windshield. Its not too dark. The rear window in the 3/Y is already really small and hard to see out of. Yup this is very accurate guidance. Once you have tints turn off auto dimming and you should be good
What’s a reasonable price for side windows and rear window for XR?
I have a moonroof/sunroof on my truck and the local tinting shop advised me not tint the top glass or it would crack or maybe he said the other windows may crack. I cannot recall his exact answer, but that sunroof makes me feel like the ant's God is getting their revenge on me - I only did it once when I was a young kid!
was the lav mic used for this video? it's really good at noise rejection.
Great video! Have you given any thought or tested any after market powered sun shades for the roof?
yes the one from vion.parts is the best in my opinion. code Gjeebs will save you 10% and free shipping
It’s legal in many states to tint the windshield.
Ohio and North Dakota allow 70% tint on the front window. Its illegal or limited to the top 5-6 inches in every other state.
If you are selling window tint, you must have a high-tech-o-meter calibrated to show the numbers that you need shown.
Lmaoooooo on the toilet watching because I am about to buy a new car 😂😂☠️☠️
Got the fifty on the windshield, and there's no way I can ever go back. I didn't tint my last car, and I just couldn't drive at night, because the glare would blind me; whenever I did drive at night, it was just a constant feeling of imminent death.
If I can't get the waiver, or find someone to pass the inspection without it, then I will pay to have it removed, and put back on.
Gjeebs is a fucking devils magician, how’d you know i was on the toilet? No airpods though 🧐😂
I did a 60 on my windshield ceramic tint love it!
Can you recommend anyone in Tucson? This guy looked good but I don’t want to drive up there.
Hola Maestro! great video, been following you for quite a while and your sense of humor is awesome. Quick question, do you have any issues with the windshield being tinted and polarized sun glasses?
I know that ceramic tinting can cause some sort of rainbow effects which on the side windows I do not care, but if that is the case on the windshield then I might be problematic.
anything you can share about this?
thanks man!
Daniel
I have not had any issues with this, here are the sunglasses I use: amzn.to/4fjH0qq they have been fine
can you review some aftermarket instrument cluster displays for the model Y?
Do you still recommend 35% ceramic tint all around for new Tesla owners? I’m also in Arizona and about to get my MYP tinted. I’ve gone down too many rabbit holes to determine the most effective tint percentage for this record heat 🥵
35 all the way around looks pretty cool 😎
Only if dynamic tint was in Jersey! Nice one
I heard that there is clear ceramic film for the windshield. Am I wrong?
Yes there is
I like that pink wrap on your Y. What is the brand and exact color?
It's KPMF but I can't remember the exact color. I am sure a shop could find it for you
5:00 oh wow you got me
One shop told me they don’t tint the Y roofs anymore as the that tends to hold heat in. Fact or fiction? Love the channel btw gjeebs!
It’s a fact. Anyone tinting a roof is doing it for the money
Any issues with the tint drying afterwards with the windows slightly open and shut with the door access?
No
What's the best/easiest way for me to find XPEL tint shops? I live in the Bay Area. Thanks!
If you go on their website they have a store locater. That’s probably easiest
I have Nano Ceramic all around My MYLR I just have yet to tint the windshield
Just tinted my tesla originally had 20% all around minus 50% on front windshield and it was way too dangerous couldnt see shit at night so switched two front side glass to 50% as well kept the back 20% helps a ton and I can actually see out the glass now lol.
would 30% be worth front two side glass
@@alextechtai I did 30% all the way around, except the windshield. Its not too dark. The rear window in the 3/Y is already really small and hard to see out of. It makes it slightly more difficult to see out of at night. Even before it was tinted, I preferred using my backup camera to see out of the back anyway.
how much does it cost on average to tint one window with expel ceramic???
"..You might be on the toilet while watching this."
Or if your like me, your charging your Tesla while watching UA-cam lol..
Getting my highland done any day
What’s the average cost to tint a mY with that high level ceramic tint?
About 300
550-750 range depending on what you get done
HI Gjeebs,
I have a question, how does the influence on the front cameras on the windshield with 35 or up ?
thanks.
Tint goes on the inside of the window. They cut out around the black box that holds the camera, so they're not impacted at all.
Is it safe to tint the rear window with defrost lines?
yep
Ho much
do you think they can do a model 3 white roof wrap? Also this is indeed the BEST tint business in Arizona! I will not let anyone else touch my Tesla's.
I would call Tyler and ask. I think $250
@@Gjeebs if that’s the case I’ll head over tomorrow lol most places want $400+ for a product that costs $60 and takes like half an hour to do
Does xpel 10 yr warranty cover labor. If i buy xpel from one installer. And i move will the next xpel dealer warranty at no cost?
Exactly. Most of the time labor is extra.
Excellent video ❤
Since you "personally suggest" doing something illegal, will you pay for my ticket if I tint my windshield?
Do they have to remove any trim on the doors to do the tint on a Model 3?
No
just went looking for a local installer!
Perfect timing!
@@Gjeebs no because of your vid 🤣
This was great, thanks!
You’re welcome
What is the cost?
Literally on the toilet while watching this.
You aren’t alone
Good video. Thanks
You never got messed with by tinting the front?
Anyone recommend a tint shop around LA county?
I tinted my roof and took it off. Hated it. Can't see out of it, and roof glass alone gets rid of 98% UV.
What tint percentage did you do on it?
@@Indominus_X Mild one, cant recall one of the lightest ones.
1:30 - you know what doesn’t add “coolness” to a car?? Painting or wrapping it hot pink.
I’d never do it, but I think it looks cool. There’s something about the pink they used that is compelling.
is it me or states like Arizona should have no legal limit for tint
