RIP Myles Goodwyn 😪He absolutely is one of the greatest songwriters in the hard rock genre Canadian or otherwise. Great hooks and great harmony! I don't think anyone wrote better parts for three guitars than him either.
I have a great memory of interviewing him for the high school newspaper when April Wine played there in the seventies. He was so genuine and generous with his time. He was a Canadian music icon and a truly great guy.
I feel like I've been hit with a bat...what a loss...experienced many firsts with your music...RIP Myles...you will not be forgotten...your legacy will live on...
At my present age of 60, April Wine is one of the few bands/musical acts who I could never tire of. Myles Godwin’s musical composition, signature vocals & guitar sound makes him immortal, because he wrote music that will always be appreciated by many. I introduced my Filipina girlfriend to April Wine’s songs while living in Taiwan, in the early 1990s. 32 years later, she’s still into their music. Truly, a Canadian icon.
heard this yesterday afternoon, and immediately stopped what I was doing and sat down....coming out of nowhere, this hit me like a ton of bricks....I cant believe he's gone. Seen April Wine a few times over the years and they always delivered one hell of a show! Man, gonna miss you Myles - RIP my good man, Rockin Roll heaven now has a spot for you to play.
Myles Goodwyn WAS April Wine. The voice of a 70s Canadian generation. Part of the fabric of this country in all of us who remember hearing April Wine on AM radio when our Mum's and Dad's took us home from Cub-Scouts in 1974. Music that will live forever. Thank you Myles.
From Texas here, while in highschool (class of 81) April Wine, Aerosmith, Thin lizzy were tops on my playlist daily. Loved every AW song and for some reason 21 century really stuck out. Thank you AW for ALL the beautiful songs, vocals and killer guitar work. Rest in peace Sir. 😢
"Just Between You And Me" was the very first song I ever heard by April Wine back in 1982 on WNEW FM New York. It blew me away. Since then, I've been a big April Wine fan and have never understood why they never made it big in the U.S. Such a great and incredibly underrated band. They are sorely missed. R.I.P. Myles Goodwyn. 🌹
All the Canadian bands would come through Indianapolis because we are relatively close. Rush, Frank Marino, Head East, Max Webster, Triumph and April Wine are bands I saw numerous times. "The Nature of the Beast" is still an album I listen to all the way through everytime I play it!
Rest well in Rock n' Roll heaven Mr. Goodwyn. Thank you and your band 'April Wine' for all those great tunes, many of those songs are still a big part of "the soundtrack of my life." Growing up in British Columbia, Canada during the 1970s & 80's ,I was fortunate to see April Wine play live a few times and I enjoyed those concerts very much. RIP buddy.🎵☮
R.I.P Myles and you were one of the greatest bands of all time. You will be dearly missed as a good man and a musician! My condolences to the Goodwin family
What can we say, another great singer song writer passes on. I'm absolutely certain, 100%, that the people i grew up with in Canada today are remembering him. He was a big part of our Canadian identity and youth in general. Salut to April Wine, i lower my head and open my heart in respect to all his family and friends. A huge loss indeed. I'm listening to April Wine this week and it feels so strange , now that he's gone. I felt the same way for PRISM singer (British Columbia band), who died so young in the 80's
Man....he was among the ones who set the path for Canadian musicians on the international level...Bryan Adams, Céline Dion and all other should be thankful for having such a pioneer before them. RIP Myles.
RIP Myles, one of the greatest singer song-writers of the rock era and April Wine was one of my favourite bands I saw these guy live 40 years ago. ... I'm holding a lighter above my head for you !
RIP Myles. So sad. Seen April Wine live a few times, got my treasured t-shirt, and a bunch of their albums. My favourite songs are "I Wouldn't Want To Lose Your Love", "Oowatanite", "You Won't Dance With Me", "Bad Side Of The Moon", "Just Between You And Me", "Tonite Is A Wonderful Time to Fall in Love" and "Say Hello". But really I love all their songs. RIP Myles. It won't be the same without you. Tonight I'm gonna rock myself to sleep.
I wish I could've seen them one more time, but was unable to. As a Yank, I often think the US ignores the great music that comes out of Canada. Also, I've always felt that April Wine and other Canadian bands should be in the so called Rock n Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, but like many others, have been gyped. R.I.P. Myles Goodwyn, your music has given me so many wonderful memories from my youth.
I’ve been a huge fan ever since I heard April Wine in the early ‘70’s in Victoria. Goodwyn was a fantastic talent - the entire band was brilliant…song writing par excellence ! What a legacy ! 💕❤️
Rest high with with all the rockers Myles, your songs will live on well into the future and we that rocked with you will crank it on 30 everytime we hear those tunes. May you rest easy RIP friend. Daniel Mansfield
