What REALLY cemented Em's place in rap was the opening of this entire album. Going from "Kill You" to "Stan" back-to-back? Come on man, get real. THAT is one hell of an opening and completely showcased Em's abilities for shock, cadence, lyrics AND topics. Then does it AGAIN with 2 back-to-back tracks "The Way I Am" and "The Real Slim Shady" Only to drop into "darker themes" with "Drug Ballard", "Amityville" and "Criminal" too? Plus a true "banger" (At least in my opinion" of "Bitch Please 2"? MMLP was/is/always-will-be one of the BEST '2nd album" attempts by ANY artist in ANY genre. I'm not saying it is the best one ever. Just ONE of the best examples of when you can tell that you have something really impactful on your hands. Is there ANY doubt as to why THIS album went Diamond? Just look at what Em did. A "Triple Platinum" album (3mil) for a 1st release followed up by a "Diamond" (10mil) in a span of only a year and a half at most? Yeah, Em was going to be a HUGE influence on the genre for years to come. Nobody knew that it would be DECADES because the "hits" kept coming.

He's saying he isn't Acid Rap, but he raps on acid, because a local Detroit rapper named Esham called his style of Rap "Acid Rap". Em has compared himself to E before when he said "I'm a cross between Manson, Esham, and Ozzy".
That "Okay Ma" part was a shot at the critics who try twist what he says to feed their narrative. "Ma" is another word for shorty, girl, chick, etc. But they try to make it seem like he was talking about his mother.
Stevie talking about digging the 'rapping' and 'psycho shit'...seems like Relapse may be his cup of tea, too The 'rapping' there is smooth, the production - fire, and, well...there is "some" psycho shit here and there xD
He's growing into it more and more. When he first started really digging into Em's music, he wasn't into the crazy shit. But he's heard more and more, it seems he's starting to like that side of Em. He ain't ever gonna be ready for 'Insane' though lmao

@Ferdinand Vanko he really had fun making this album. Not that he doesn't for the ones after Relapse, but I feel he had to do some adjustments for post-Relapse projects, while for it he did what he wanted. I Love Relapse xD Understand and respect your point tho
He actually had money to put into production this time around (after selling 4 million records) and, after proving himself, I imagine he had a lot more artistic input and confidence in his own vision
you have to have some eminem ears to appriciate the art, i remeber when i was listening to this in my teens my parents just couldnt understand why i even wanne listen to this crazy shit .but since infinty he was a word wizard. respect for your reactions.
This was fun af to watch! It's been basically 2 decades with this song and this shit still bangs! I was in grade school sneakin to listen to this album. Em really snapped on this. One of my fav songs from him for sure. Dope hook, crazy beat you can bop to, Em doin his thing, can't ask for more.
eminem is a movie teller, you just picture the whole story in your head what he is talkin about while riding the flow. look at stan, how he is the same rapper two different kind of personalities coresponding to eachother even he changes his voice, or imagine making all scenes of rap and lyrics in the movie 8 mile basically he was battling himself
Stevie you missed the part when he said "I said hut up when I'm talking to you, do you hear me? Answer me." Because you actually can't answer since he said shut up, see that's where he gets ya
Love that even now we can go back and appreciate what he was doing back then with the knowledge we have now about rap because we are older and understand more
You know at the end when he says “I’m just playing ladies, you know I love you” at the end of killshot he says “I’m just playing diddy, you know I love you” nobody ever catches that.
Only "new" fans miss that. All the people who have been listening to Em for years LAUGHED because of Em using that line in regards to Diddy. Just like they laughed when he did it on White America. It is a genius way of saying "Hey, I didn't really mean what I said, but I MEANT what I said when I said it".
@@hikelfin - LOL, maybe because you have been in the same situation like I have. That you say something that "could" hurt someone down the road, and you don't want that. But in that "moment of anger" you aren't going to hold back at all? I mean, THAT is really what makes the whole "I'm just playing..." phrase so comical and yet impactful. It isn't a real "don't come at me" so much as a "put aside your emotions and look at the situation before getting involved". And whenever you have THAT type of situation, it always makes you cringe because so many people are unable to put their emotions aside to be objective about a situation and end up saying/doing something really stupid.
Mario Stipic if every em fan catches that and I caught that then how would that make me a new em fan. Come on now bro. I just stated it because Stevie didn’t catch it.
O. M. G. Stevie! I am Truly enjoying ur journey with Marshall more than u will ever know. The way u are jamming to this song, this 2nd time around, speaks volumes to how Em can actually crawl right UP in one's DNA.

Hey just to clarify that part where you said well actually Eminem said "I don't do Acid Rap But I rap on acid. There's an underground rapper named Esham that came out of Detroit back in like 1991 sold his mixtape boomin words from hell out of the trunk of his car made a million dollars off selling out of his trunk but his style is called acid rap And then with the theme of the song you don't want to mess with shady the all the stuff about the beefs that artist Esham took that as a diss towards him so his next album he created was called tongues and their six tracks on their disses Eminem even talks about killing Kim and Haley in Eminem never said a word to him about it because on a real note I know the stans are going to start overreacting about this next part but Eminem wanted nothing to do with Esham Not on a lyrical level but he knew if he kept pushing it he'd end up getting killed That's real talk That's facts. He's saying he isn't Acid Rap, but he raps on acid, because a local Detroit rapper named Esham called his style of Rap "Acid Rap". Em has compared himself to E before when he said "I'm a cross between Manson, Esham, and Ozzy".
Yoh Stevie, why you so good at this reactions? 😭... you lit bro🙌🙌🙌
I watch other reactors, but when I watch Stevie’s reactions “it’s just different”. You one of the best reactors bro
That "Okay Ma" part was a shot at the critics who try twist what he says to feed their narrative. "Ma" is another word for shorty, girl, chick, etc. But they try to make it seem like he was talking about his mother.
You know what else speaks volumes? You yelling your enthusiastic reaction to lyrical linguistics LOL! Love it! GET HYPE!!
Stevie talking about digging the 'rapping' and 'psycho shit'...seems like Relapse may be his cup of tea, too
The 'rapping' there is smooth, the production - fire, and, well...there is "some" psycho shit here and there xD
He's growing into it more and more. When he first started really digging into Em's music, he wasn't into the crazy shit. But he's heard more and more, it seems he's starting to like that side of Em. He ain't ever gonna be ready for 'Insane' though lmao
@@csi2448 I can't wait for insane lmao, I tried to find as many reactions as I could. Shaq's one killed me tho :D
Stevie's gonna poker face the whole length of the song haha
@@csi2448 I actually love Insane lol...the whole album in general
@Ferdinand Vanko he really had fun making this album. Not that he doesn't for the ones after Relapse, but I feel he had to do some adjustments for post-Relapse projects, while for it he did what he wanted. I Love Relapse xD Understand and respect your point tho
@@csi2448 He is definitely not ready for insane and fack. Not yet. Such emotional songs...
Applause to your conversation and conversation. That's why you're where you're at. At the top.
I'm so glad you are finally on this album. The Marshall Mathers LP is probably one of the greatest albums from front to back all time
This was fun af to watch! It's been basically 2 decades with this song and this shit still bangs! I was in grade school sneakin to listen to this album. Em really snapped on this. One of my fav songs from him for sure. Dope hook, crazy beat you can bop to, Em doin his thing, can't ask for more.
So quick to hit "play" lol.
Then realized you already did it
Re review music to be murdered by now that you know all that hate and bs thats been thrown Ems way. So many bars will make more sense to you now
Let's do it!
He started reviewing Em's full discography on patreon, he'll get there eventually
Has Stevie done "Criminal" yet?
If not... That reaction will be priceless!!
Stevie is really my favorite reactor from now on !
eminem is a movie teller, you just picture the whole story in your head what he is talkin about while riding the flow. look at stan, how he is the same rapper two different kind of personalities coresponding to eachother even he changes his voice, or imagine making all scenes of rap and lyrics in the movie 8 mile basically he was battling himself
at the end of the mgk diss, he said im sorry diddy you know i love you, just like he did at the end of this song
First Eminem song I could rap. 14 years old and got this cassette as a gift from my mom.
Cherish her 😊
Why do I love this reaction the most? It brought Stevie such joy. Lol
Waiting on the Mariah Carey "Obsessed" video and Eminem "The Warning" reactions
Stevie you missed the part when he said "I said hut up when I'm talking to you, do you hear me? Answer me." Because you actually can't answer since he said shut up, see that's where he gets ya
Eminem can tell a story in rap form. He paints a picture with his words.
You must be a new Em fan
Only "new" fans miss that. All the people who have been listening to Em for years LAUGHED because of Em using that line in regards to Diddy. Just like they laughed when he did it on White America. It is a genius way of saying "Hey, I didn't really mean what I said, but I MEANT what I said when I said it".
@Randy Mcilveene haha exactly, who isn't catching that? its one of the most obvious well known things from eminem
The beat and the cadence on this one.... Em killed it! This song (and a few others) made me appreciate and understand lyrics. I'll never forget sitting in class my freshman year with my new cd... The Marshall Mathers LP 🙌
This literally just popped up in my algorithm. I was in high-school when this album dropped. That summer was so lit. As aggressive as it was, that was the music alot of us listened to. It was comforting. Memories. ❤
Gotta do his “criminal” after this one
Marshall Mathers is the serious rapper. Slim Shady is shock value. He's not really Slim really anymore but he bring traces of him out occasionally.
This song is on my lifting playlist for years now.
YOU GOT ME HYPED 💯💯💯🔥🔥🔥
Man, I cannot WAIT to see him react to "Criminal" 😂
When this came out there was nothing like it, so aggressive but funny and super lyrical.
Its gets under your skin. Total fire.
Just thought I'd let you know 💯
Where is Esham now?
It's just like when Evidence dropped 'Search For Bobby Fischer'. Em didn't want any of that smoke. So he never responded and they quickly squashed the beef they had in private
@@pjbpiano he just dropped a new single.
@@pjbpiano Esham lives in Minnasota now and crazy he just did a interview where he says the murder of George Floyd was a block from where he was.butr new song "Everybody wants to go to Heavin
💚from the uk.. its mad watching people reacting to what my era came up on... keep it up big lad
He said it in one of the first lines, and this is an old ass song. “They said I can’t rap about being broke no more, they didn’t say I can’t rap about coke no more.” Record companies don’t want your story, they want what sells records. So be the biggest gangster and dope dealer, even if it’s not facts. It will sell records. Even today. Em never fit in that G category, he just brought rhymes to the table. Like no one else. Facts.
Didn't he accuse his mom of suffering from munch housen by proxy. A mental disorder where a mother convinces her child from a young age. Even makes them drink non lethal poisons. Brings them the hospital. All to be looked upon as the caring mom. They actually get a rush or high from that feeling. Some messed up people out there for sure .😥
Convinces them their sick from a young age*
You're slowly turning into a stan .. Welcome onboard bro lol
I love when stevie get crunk watching these vids. So much more enjoyable 😂 much respect man. Easily best reactor
I’m sorry man, but you gotta check out SSLP out again cuz he really was rappin. The syllable schemes, different concepts, story telling, and the overall character of slim shady was ground breaking for mainstream hip hop at the time.
When this firat dropped i was a like 12 and i listen to it in my cd walkman everynight before bed shits so fire th whole album
HEADLIGHTS - he forgives his mum and says sorry for all the shit he's said in the past. Don't think you've reacted to it yet.
I’m subscribed now man. I have a lot of respect for your analysis dude.
You pick apart the lyrics perfectly with total objectiveness. Big love man
This song is probably one of my top 5. Anytime I got sad through my divorce this song gave me that fire I needed.
The sheer passion in this video is so wholesome
