I would never charge money for people to use Sudomemo.... that'd be like gross or something. It's just rather expensive to run so I'm just trying to break even. (Also, Plus isn't even a subscription and you can get it for free in myriad ways flipnot.es/plus )

In fact, they dont plan on making another one...They shut all of it down after Nintendo discovered that some people had been exchanging friend codes with minors online, then sending offensive material to them through the two 3DS messaging services.
Back then Flipnote Hatena was my youtube. I didn't have access to a computer or a smartphone so my dsi was my only way to see any animation. And I used to love watching Epic & Guitar's animation!
Hatena is something I wish i knew about or was able to access but if I'm being honest I didn't need it to enjoy my time with flipnote!

I made a few flipnotes back in 2010 when I was 12 that got me over 10,000 red/green/blue/yellow hearts and I remember I was so happy that others enjoyed my art, I had even made friends with some people who’ve now gone on to work in major film/animation studios. I’ll miss those times
I rewatched this video again and just downloaded Flipnote 3D. I never had the original flipnote studio, but I am so happy that I have part of it's legacy to enjoy.
I remember watching Hatena back when I didn't have access to a computer and by extension UA-cam. The ancient classics like Food Criminal and Mario vs Luigi are permanently imbedded in my subconscious.

I got Flipnote 3D pretty recently actually and have been having a lot of fun. I really wish there was something like Flipnote Hatena for 3D, even if it probably would’ve been discontinued at this point.

i still open up flipnote studio every now and then when i'm using my dsi. i used to use this thing all the time without having any idea what it was really capable of. it meant a lot to me and a lot more to some of my friends and i wish flipnote 3d got more/better/any support

Was not expecting a whole song, absolutely incredible work
I usually skip songs in UA-cam videos (probably bc they remind me of something I'd do to make a video "better") but I was pleasantly surprised with yours. It flowed quite well, the lyrics were a little playful but still had thought behind it, and the music was nice too!
Overall, the video was fantastic, so for it to include a song that's catchy and related to the topic of the video, I'd say this is one of your best videos to date. Keep up the great work!
FlipNote Studio has had a rough transition to 3D
God I miss Flipnote Studio so much. I remember I used to watch Hatena all the time growing up. I would stay up late downloading all the flipnotes that looked cool or made me laugh to my tiny 2 GB SD Card, and then watch them over and over again whenever I left the house. I remember being extremely upset when I heard that Hatena was shutting down, and even more upset when I found out there was no internet functionality in Studio 3D when Nintendo finally "released" it outside of Japan 2 years later. I know alternatives like Sudomemo now exist for sharing flipnotes, but the original Hatena just kinda had this magic that made it feel special to me and possibly many other people.
I think I still have all those old flipnotes saved somewhere, maybe I should find my DSi and go for a trip down memory lane.

I actually fully grew up with flipnote studio and the 3d version. and to this day i animate pretty often on my dsi. I've made multiple music videos with flipnote studio and I hope one day the fanbase hits a resurgence. Also i love how much i have in common with the things you have in this video. i literally burn flipnotes on dvds and play them on that same exact emerson tv. I always use the black dsi XL, and funny enough, i also made a static animation of a penguin waving its flipper over a year ago. very funny. loved watching this!!
I have a feeling if Flipnote was still alive today, there'd be a ton of skibidi rizzler gyatt baby gronk content spilling into it like sewer pipes coming outta UA-cam and Tiktok dumping waste into the ocean

If you hold left (or right for left handed users) on the second page of advanced settings, you will see a draft mode and merging layers.
I was so lucky to get flipnote 3D before the Eshop closed.
I remember being so hyped for Flipnote Studio to release. It came out in late 2008 in Japan, and I still have my old e-mail where I kept e-mailing Nintendo for months about the date of the European release. They ended up telling me a few days beforehand that it's August 14 2009, I felt like an insider haha. That date is forever engraived into my memory!

I've never had a DS nor Flipnote, but seeing how much effort you put into this video should open Nintendo's eyes that Flipnote is still very well loved. Like it's not tiring enough to film and edit, you even added a song! 👏

Subscribed recently and god damn am I glad that a video about Flipnote of all things would come out days later. Truly a shame what Nintendo did to Flipnote and 3D. I was left disappointed when I found it by accident online and then realized how few people knew about it. Cheers to a fantastic application and the small screen memories they made!

The DSi changed everything in it's lifetime with games like New Super Mario Bros. and Photo Dojo. Those days were amazing.

I remember my sister had a Flipnote Hatena account named Hawkeyes and she made some amazing Flipnotes at the time. Im certain she still misses Flipnote Hatena to this day.
Epic video dude. I think it sucks what Nintendo did to Flipnote studio, it could’ve been more popular then how it is now.
Either Nintendo just planned to make it a DS System-only thing, or they just decided to stop it
This is why I love procreate dreams so much on the iPad, it feels like an evolved, modern version of flipnote studio on the iPad, many digital animation softwares are overly complicated but dreams goes back to the basics

Loved your song at the end. I loved Flipnote, it came out when I was 13 and I was amazed by the community that sprung up on Hatena. Such a simple piece of animation software fostered a lot of talent and skill, I saw several good artists develop and a bunch of amazing/funny animations uploaded over the years. It felt like an early version of something like Vine, socially speaking. I was sad to see it shut down, Nintendo killed a really fun creative space.

I mean, there's still Clipnote studio. But I can't get used to it, because original interface was designed to work the best on two displays, and Clipnote provides a single window instead.

my 3ds is probably one of like 5 US 3ds’s to legitimately have flipnote studio 3d on it LOL the way they distributed it in america was so weird hence why so many ppl don’t know about it. the program actually existed for a while before they put it on my nintendo in the US, but because it was exclusive to europe and japan, i literally waited day by day for it to become available in the US and it finally did

u dont underSTAND the 3rd tool page is GAME BREAKING, its SO useful for making micro edits on linework. The select tool also lets you autofill shapes. Im STILL learning hidden advanced tools, like cutting and pasting in the timeline and editing bwteen separate files, and the invert tool
Im still trying to push its limits but as can be seen by other flipnote animators i still have a long way to go

I loved flipnote! When I was young me and my brother would make these EXTREMELY CRINGE Flipnotes on our DSi’s! I remember wondering how to ACTUALLY animate on flipnote like the people on Hatena did! (I later rediscovered Flipnote 2 years ago when I found out about Flipnote 3D and I actually now know how to actually animate on Flipnote lol)
I think Kit and Krysta shares a story how they had a stand for Flipnote Studio at Pax, and it was very uncool and kinda forced into people's faces.
I miss Flipnote Studio and the Hatena service and wish it never died, but I can see why Nintendo didn't really want to push it forward... It was kinda... unmarketable.

KaeruTeam has revived 3DS's Flipnote Gallery (Kaeru Gallery), although in my eyes, it's bland as frick.
(As a guy who wanted DSi as a kid and didn't get it, i'm trying to at least enjoy Sudomemo and its community. I'm sad i missed out on all the stuff back then but I hope I'll enjoy the current Flipnote stuff now.)
