  • I actually recorded the talking for this video over a year and a half ago. But my view is still the same... well until I try the NEW flywave that is!!
    But I standby my comments... whats your favourite Wave board? ...and have you tried a simmer Style board? I think they are seriously underrated!

    They do look good! The best part for me is your description of what makes a good board and your setup. As it happens, I am the same weight and height as you. I know this from a conversation we had on the beach at Ho'okipa in 2018 (ref. conversation about staying with grumpy Phil McGain/I have a Canadian accent/was in my fifties - I don't expect you to recall...). I am thrilled to have my setup the same as you, the Masters hero! My favourite boards? 2018 Quatro Cube 104 - gets me going when very onshore/up-and-down, but still works when it is cranking, and my JP Ultimate Wave 94 for when it is properly windy. A bit hard to get going but super snappy and grips like mad but still volume to get home when the wind drops a bit at West Wittering.

      @@ROCKETRICKYH hi mate.. I do vaguely remember the conversation 😁 …in the boards. I’d say both those boards are also pretty decent boards.. and interesting in the volumes you’re riding. That’s the cool thing about the newer boards. You can up size them and still have loads of performance.

    You said something about a flywave larger than the 99 is this confirmed?
    Thanks

    Why does Simmer not speak about the maths genius who designed them, and his approach? Truly epic. I only hear good things about them 🤟🏼🤗 Was he not interviewed before? I forget.

    Good commercial, Ben. Perhaps it's time for you to reconsider using 'absolute/absolutely' every, er, like, second word - ya know what I mean, man?! Here in England we have a 'thesaurus' which is, 'like this absolutely amazing' book, which could develop your vocabulary. Alternatives to the 'A Word' include: complete, entire, utter, total, unlimited, unrestricted, perfect, pure, unadulterated, unalloyed. Think about scattering some of these alternatives and you will suddenly appear very clever (Trevor.)

    Great review. Same question I asked Maurice Mauch. I’m 77kg intermediate wave sailor. I own a 87 Pyro which i love, mainly using it with 3 things in all possible windy conditions. I was a bit struggling in Mauritius and Chile because the wind was sometimes super light, just enough to waterstart, and I was having hard time catching waves. Would you recommend 92 or 99 as a board for these trips, where it can be windy but not always, and where the goal is really down the line riding? I was leaning towards 92, because it felt that i wasn’t that far from being comfortable on 87. But when I hear about the 99, I’m getting tempted. Just to be clear, I always travel with one board only. Thanks a lot for your great work. You’re a great inspiration for the windsurfing world.

    • @Ben-Proffitt
      @Ben-Proffitt  2 дні тому

      I would say the 99 would be a great 2 board combo with the 87.. but if you're only taking one board I'd go with the 92.

    • @Ben-Proffitt
      @Ben-Proffitt  2 дні тому

      edit.. I just checked the width on the Pryro.. it's 59.. same as the 92 flywave. So if that's the case you might not notice too much difference in size. So the 99 would be better if you want it bigger. As 99 is 61cm.. 2cm is a good setup

    • @andreslarrain2790
      @andreslarrain2790 2 дні тому

      Thanks a lot for the answer and checking the Pyro. I’m still hesitating because all i need is a few liters more to float and catch waves. But i’m definitely reconsidering it. Maybe i should travel with two boards but family will kill me hahaha. Specially Chile makes the decision tricky. Because there’s easily 25 knots, but it’s usually gusty on the way in with big lulls when you cross the break. Thanks a lot.

    • @Ben-Proffitt
      @Ben-Proffitt  2 дні тому

      @@andreslarrain2790 yeah.. it's tricky! Ideally 2 boards is the way to go! :) But like you say maybe the extra 5 litres might make all the deference. It would basically be like you losing 5kg in weight.. which is a lot! :)
