- This video continues from where the last one finished. I leave the water point at Lower Heyford and head south about 1.5 miles through The Cleeves to Dashwoods Lock. I moor up below Dashwoods lock.

A big thank you to everyone who has sent a donation or become a patron of my channel. I usually send a thank you message via PayPal or Patreon but sometimes PayPal messages are disabled and I can't do that? Unfortunately my boating videos do not get enough views to generate significant advertising revenue from UA-cam, and I refuse to add mid-roll adverts as they spoil the video. Phil
The cows are great. Thanks fir explaining about the condition of the canals, bridges, paddles open, nearness to shops, over-hanging foliage or overgrown reeds etc
Always enjoyable whether from recent or earlier travels. Much Appreciated.
Thank you so much.
Hey Phil. Thanks for all the videos. I enjoy them all.
Very welcome, thank you.
Your 30-odd years of experience is evident in your anticipation of mad boaters, and of your calm and patience with those less experienced. Great video to chill to. Thanks.
Thanks for that.
That train near the first bridge certainly sounded like it was motoring at a good clip.
It's a high speed line. The freight trains are even worse and seem to go on for ever!
Thanks for the video.
You are welcome.
That sure was a loud train. Sounded like a field of cattle at the lock you went through. Most enjoyable cruise. Thank you Phil. Very relaxing.
Thank you. I've changed the thumbnail caption to "Noisy Cow!" ;-)
That sure was a looud train - but what I really liked were the cows!
I changed the thumbnail caption for that video ;-)
Beautiful journey Phil, you are so lucky
I spotted a ufo half way through followed by crows! : ) Always love your vlogs. You capture both in video and sound the english countyside perfectly.
Awesome! Thank you!
I take it the cruise was in the green belt 😂l like the “phantom “ boat shots in Dashwoods Lock 😂
Always good to see you cruising along ..Beautiful day for it..Really nice vlog...Love the operaetic cow,
birdsong as its background accompaniment!!!
We had some Sun out today and I saw my first Robin of this year.amazing how it can lift the spirits.
Hope your having a pleasant early Spring !!😊
Thanks so much.
Lovely stuff as always Phil - those cats really do have a wonderful life, roaming the canals 🥰
Yes they do have an interesting life, and very well travelled!
Beautiful cruise. Best wishes
Many thanks!
gfood vid on cut thanks lee
Beautiful mooring place, enjoyable cruise, thanks for sharing, Phil!
Thank you. It's a lovely place to moor. Unfortunately the nearest shop is miles away so hard to stay there for very long.
Hi I've just been watching your video today's one. 6 minuite and 55 seconds in to it, look to the sky, there IS a UFO flying past. I'm gobsmacked. You need to send it to someone to show them what's just happened. Lynnie Lee Droitwich Spa. X
The "Murgons" are just a bit of fun! ;-)
Those were really some noisy cows!
A lovely cruise once again Phil.
Thank you. Pity we couldn't see the cows. The hedge was too high.
Thank you Phil. I needed this peaceful trip! Love the unexpected sighting and loud cows! Do you have a favorite spot on the canals? You may have said before, but I'm a newbie here!
Thank you. I have many favourite mooring spots on the canal system but very few are good in every way needed. Nearby facilities, shops, gas, coal, diesel etc. This often means I can't even stay the full 14 days. Where I stopped at the end of this video is a great place but very remote and I needed to move on the next day. That will be in my next cruising video.
Just seen a Murgon being chased by a Rook . Cheers
Seeing the rook fly across reminded me that the Murgons hadn't been seen for a while...
Small world! We rented that same boat coming out of Dashwood Lock last September! Think we were moored near you just north of Thrupp actually. Enjoyed the video!
Those same hireboats have been going up and down that stretch for as long as I can remember. Glad you liked the video.
Thanks
Much appreciated, thank you.
Nice vlog as usual Phil - but we are missing your theme tune , graphics & ufo’s at the beginning. 👍🏻
Sorry about that. I'm checking to see if it was causing viewers to click away...?
@@NarrowboatJourneys it would never make us do that. I think we’ve been watching for at least 5 years if not longer. It’s just what you’re used to I s’pose.
It's more about attracting new viewers. I'm sure existing viewers are fine with it. First they have to endure a couple of adverts, then watch an intro... might be putting them off? I despise mid-roll adverts but in not having them I lose revenue. However, I will stick with my resolve not to have them spoiling the videos.
@@NarrowboatJourneys do what you need to do mate. A few ads simply means you’re getting something for your hard work. I understand how much goes into a video now we have our own channel - not enough subscribers or views at the moment though to be monetised. Keep up the good work 👍🏻
Mozzies DO eat me alive! I envy those can live with them and don’t have to scratch themselves forever. If I were younger I would love a narrow boat but couldn’t because the wildlife would eat every bit of me. Envious.
PS. Thank you lovely narrow boat travellers for taking me across the country by canal. I would not be able to experience it all in real life. You have enriched my life.
I'm very glad you enjoy them. Thank you.
The mozzies are particularly bad in that spot. Each bite itches for about three weeks!
@@NarrowboatJourneysSpray on some vanilla extract mixed with water in a spray bottle to keep mosquitos away, and vanilla is not a bad scent although you may find yourself craving cake! Even artificial vanilla extract works.
Just discovered your excellent channel and subscribed. Love the video.
Thank you very much. Welcome aboard! ;-)
Nice normal cruise along the canals without the weird performance for UA-cam, which is so phoney or off-putting.
Thank you. I just tell it like it is. I've been afloat so long the novelty has long worn off and I don't tend to make rookie mistakes like most of the other new boating channels. My videos are mostly free of "drama" because that's how boating should be. Of course unexpected things can and do happen from time to time.
What was that UFO thing that went from left to right at 6:55 in the video?
That was the Murgons! They are sometimes seen in my cruising videos ;-)
Are the new CRT rules and price increases particularly aimed at continuous cruisers.
How will this effect your running costs.
It's the straw that breaks the camels back. The CRT are targeting some of the least wealthy boaters on the system.
How long do you usually stop for Phil? I know that you're allowed 14 days as a CC, but do you have a particular preference?
I stay anything from one day to fourteen days in any one place. It depend on how nice or convenient it is? Or if it is unpleasant?
Right, I suppose it's hard to tell how good a place will be until you moor there. Those high speed trains must be annoying. It seems they are everywhere, except perhaps on the Llangollen canal?
