- This is a teardown and inspection of a Porsche 930 Turbo Transmission.
Everything is beefier in a turbo! We also take apart the limited-slip differential. Lots of interesting stuff.
Don't start tearing your turbo transmission apart until the rebuild video is out; lots of special tools are required!
Thanks for watching
Transmissions videos. Always the most interesting ones. Great work. Thanks !!!
Exhaust Heat exchanger bolt
Just curious, how much does a job like that cost approximately ?
Every one of these is different depending on what it needs and when you do the job as parts prices are constantly changing. I would be happy to give you a ball park quote directly on your transmission if you need it done. Just contact us directly.
Thanks Kurt
10:20 cam box. I noticed 1st gear dog teeth and slider appear symmetrical. I thought 930 1st were all asymmetrical?
You are correct and we are updating to the Asymmetrical gear sets.
Kurt
Is the nut for the exhaust heat exchangers? I have never owned a 911 (only 993+) but I think I have seen it there in older cars and maybe on my 993 when I removed the heat exchangers
Nope not the heat exchanger nut, But a good guess.
Kurt
Dam Kurt ! You make me feel like I’m stupid the way you disassemble and inspect.
These can be a little complicated and do require a lot of specialized tools.
Kurt
I think that's a nut for the intake manifold.
Nope, not an intake nut, at least on the early cars anyway. Although for some reason, I do see some people using these sometimes.
Kurt
The nut is for chassis ground, or the starter I think, maybe strut mounts
Nope, The starter nut is a M10 nut and this nut is an M8, the ground connections are an M8 Hex nut and the front strut mounts are an M10 Allen head bolts.
Thanks for trying though.
Kurt
@@klassikats for sure the starter one is m10. But I’m almost certain models like the 964 3.6/3.8rs has a m8 one on the strut to rest the hood prop in.
Headnut, I guess ;-)
Nope, its an 8mm nut and the head nuts are 10 mm.
Kurt
Thank you
You're welcome
