Saint Paul says to pray continuously so that we are always thinking only of Jesus. Satan hates the name of Jesus so thanking and praising Jesus will block Satan out of your thoughts. Another prayer is 'Jesus Christ Son of the living God have mercy on me a sinner' will also block out evil from your thoughts. If you have a negative thought about anyone immediately ask Jesus and the Holy Spirit to bless them and their family. Then evil cannot hijack that negative thought and provoke you to further negative thoughts.
A lot of people I know think that watching videos of something horrible will make them stronger or immune to the fear of something horrible happening to them. So they end up consuming images that darken their lives unnecessarily.
