Then rake in the money every single roll until the point or seven roll. If 6 or 8 roll collect $9 and put the other $5 back in the field

I like the field bet, I use it to recover from a bad losing streak, sometimes it works, I have been on the field many times when the dice do not hit any of the field numbers after 8=10 rolls. Liked the video, especially good for people who are going to mindlessly bet for hours for entertainment...but if you, like most people have a limited amount of bets , say 20 bets at $5 ,$100 to gamble ...you will get a better % betting the field than your example 5,9. You'll also waste a lot less time inconsequential rolls taking the thrill out of infrequent gambler....leading to boredom, leading to losses
I always thought the inside bets were for suckers, but looking back, the biggest win I ever saw was a guy throwing hundos on midnight, after about 30 minutes of doing it he walked away with about 12k and a suite
Yea i know a lot of gamblers tend to tell people to stay away from sucker bets but sometimes winning really big on a small bet is way more fun that slowly losing money playing "safe"
The field bet is fun, especially if your friends are new, but if you're in it to reduce house edge might as well go play roulette (or better yet, blackjack).
Super informative for newbies. My wife likes to play the field often but she only plays molly. I only play the field when I'm playing inside. That way only the EVIL number will knock me down.
Engineer Cat when you play the field do you do it when shooter is rolling only. I'm just learning the game today. I like roulette, but I understand now why some like this game. And I like how if the shooter does well the other players can win also.
@@wiseman4160 yes ill play the field to cover more numbers. Doesn't matter who is shooting. If im playing 44 inside I have 5 6 8 9 covered so I play the field to also cover 4 and 10. The payoff isn't as big if I placed 4 and 10 but since there's only 3 ways to roll both a 4 and a 10 the odds are against us to hit the 4 and 10 on a place bet. Your at the right channel to learn craps tho. Color up is #1 in my book. Taught me a lot. Unlike roulette your money doesn't come down after every roll of the ball win or lose. That's why I like craps. Your money is "working" on multiple throws of the dice until that evil number is thrown. AND if your playing the dark side "don't pass/come" that evil number is now your friend. :)
@@wiseman4160 I should also state that i dont play the field every roll. If the field is hit. i skip the next roll. If the field misses twice then i'll play the next one.
@@EngineerCatPyro Question for you 6 and 8 place bet can be a good place bet if you were betting on those numbers would you put a chip on both or just one? And yeah sometimes it makes it less boring to bet on refresh or hard bet on 12 ect once in a while I just want to mix things up for fun and take some risk. Yeah defently not every turn.
I have a theory on the field if you normally play the 6 and 8. If you play the pass line once a point is established you cover the pass line 5,6,8 and field. You now have every number covered except 7 of course. Also winning double with 2 and triple with 12 I think making it worth it. A lot better bet if the point is a 5,6 or 8 now you already have it covered on the pass line
If your comps are based on "time at the table" then stay away from the field and other single roll decision bets. The field has the lowest house edge (2.78%) and best probability (44.44%) of any single roll decision bet. This makes it viable for low risk + quick winning strategies. Lower per hour cost on higher house edge bets just mean it takes longer to lose more.
Wow! Nicely explained!....Im a streaky Field Bettor....If the number is in the Field, I play the Field as well.....If a shooter constantly rolls Field numbers I bet the Field. Still a fun bet, like streaky hardways ....but Never on Every Roll !
This is was great explanation and other comments have said. I really like the detail and comparison along with the stats. At nearly 5% percent rather play roulette then the field. Though I have seen interesting strategy that use it a bit.
I found the vid informative but look at the field in conjunction with a 5,6,8 pass so you have coverage on 3 of the 4 losers. just have to avoid the 7 and you win on all hands.
Very informative. But it all changes depending upon how you play. For example using a Martingale method on the long shots like the HOP bets. Also if your playing the field every roll you can kind of hedge you but by playing the 5, 6 and 8. Keep in mind your still vulnerable to the 7.
DPH Breakdowns (DPH largest to smallest, then house edge largest to smallest for each sublist) 100 DPH: any 7, 2/12, 3/11, any craps, field 30 DPH: hard 6/8, big 6/8, lay 6/8, place 6/8, pass, come, don't pass, don't come 28: place 5/9, lay 5/9 25: hard 4/10, place 4/10, buy 4/10, lay 4/10.
I like the field. I bet the pass line minimum I cover my six and eight after the point is established and I put one minimum bet in the field. If it wins I'll cover the five and nine and then just sit back and collect until my money is right and my bets are paid for. Then, I'll drop my profit as odds on the past line three for every one. After that I will literally just let my bets come down as they hit unless a specific number keeps coming up and sometimes I'll press that number if I've taken down a few and I'm up. I just started playing but it was easy enough to catch on. If my initial field bet loses, I will collect my first six or eight or point, and then make another field bet with my next to try and cover the five and nine. If my third attempt at the field loses I'll take my bets down and just wait for point
I heard somewhere before that if you look at the layout of the table the best bets are small(the dp/dc) and the worst bets are big (ie..the field bet)..I treat the field bet like. blk or red on roulette .play big and get out fast
Wait for 3 or 4 non field numbers. Then martingale up 5-8 times. I have made more money than I have lost. One casino even changed the max bet field. From $2,000 to $500 because of me. That what one of the pit bosses told me.
Every roll is random. The previous numberd do not affect the next roll. You can have 20 non-field number, but the chances of field number coming out next will not change. Blackjack is different. On a single deck game, if you saw four aces came out, no one at the table will get a blackjack during the net round. The card dealt affect the odds of the next round. On craps, each roll is independant. Your system may yield short term gain, but if you try it ling enough, you probably will loose.
I usually play the field sparingly. If I hit it, I collect and leave it. Hit it again, I pull it off till I see 2 non-field results in a row. Not scientific, but it seems to work OK for me and I enjoy making the bet.
I wish I could get people to stop basing their strategies around the concept of "House Edge." Just pay attention to your odds. There are 36 dice combinations. So your odds of winning will be somewhere between 1/36 to 36/36. That's it! If your odds of winning on the next roll are ever 18/36, then you're playing a perfectly fair game with a 50% chance to win/lose. If you can tip the odds to 19/36, or better, then the odds are in your favor. Keep it simple. "House Edge" was never meant to be used by players. It's a metric used by casinos to estimate their expected profit over the long term.
How is it fair just because you have a 50% chance of winning and 50% chance of losing? A 50% chance to win is only fair if you are getting 1:1 on your money.
@@marknoble5495 You're right. But that becomes less of a worry, when you can fix the odds 90% in your favor. Example: If you play $64 Across + $5 Field, you have slightly better than an 83% chance to win. Statistically, you should win at least 8 out of 10 rolls. This is great, because you only need 5 hits to break even. And that leaves 3 rolls available for profits. 😀 Of course, that's assuming that the 7 doesn't come up first. 🤪 But I'll take an 83% wager anyday!
Excellent analysis and description of the pros and cons of the field bet. I play it only occasionally on a lark, or maybe to hedge a Don't Pass bet. But only because it's a fun bet when you win.
I always bet on the field while I play. Double or nothing kind of strategy 🤷🏿♀️ $15 minimum I started with $20 and walked away with $1k end of game it was so much fun especially when you get a 2 or 12. Bet how you want tho. It’s fun
I play the field if the 2 or 12 pays triple but with money management using the Mini- Martingale system of 1-2-3 with a 20-40% loss limit, once the win goal is reached, I go into excesses and guarantees and plateaus and increase the bets. As my mentor John Patrick says the field isn't chopped steak but it isn't that bad either.
The field is supposed to pay triple on 12. That is the way the game was designed. The house still has a solid edge and the field was never a good bet. However, the casinos discovered that a lot of idiots don't know any better and will bet the field even with double on 12 instead of triple.
I use it a lot so every roll is a winner except for when a 7 comes up, when my unites go up on than I play the field to cover numbers and press the 5,6,8 and carry all the hard ways. I win 7 out of 10 times usually. My faviort game
You're not wrong and the math is spot on... My concerns with videos like this is that so much emphasis is placed on the math or edge versus having fun and staying profitable. I can/would gladly give the casino 100 p\hr if I can make $120-200. The long term math works both ways and as long as your disciplined and have flexibility in your bank roll, you can make decent part time money over 25+ years gaming
How exactly does the long term math work both ways? The casino always has the advantage. Players can win, with short term deviations from probability, but the math only works one way over time.
@@ColorUp same as it does for day traders and investors. You just need discipline and excellent bank roll management. You don't need to beat the casino to be profitable, just great risk management.
Interesting thought. I don’t see them comparable personally, as every bet on dice table has a negative EV. Some stocks clearly have a positive EV. You mentioned decent part time money, which is cool if true. I find most people who tell me this are guesstimating and don’t have trackable data to back this up. But there has yet for anyone to be a professional dice player, where as there are obviously plenty that are professional investors.
Amazing documentary on the Field Bet. I was at a Casino in Canada when they 1st opened a Craps table. I won $1200 Canadian ($950 US) in 8 hours most of that was Field Bets and Big Red. I heard some of the dealers talking about this big shot American - On my next bet I said: "Put $20 on 12 - IT'S a Boat time that hits" LOL - you should have seen their faces: then they all walk away thinking I was just a lucky Canadian. I didn't hit the 12, but it was worth it. :)
I'm not saying that's it's not truly the worst bet but at times it can be used in your favor to cover some of your losses when you have a lot of money on the table working. It can act as a hedge...
I never bet on the Field Bet alone. But I do combine it with the 5,6, and 8 so I have the Iron Cross working. This more often than not works out in my advantage, seeing as how there's only 1 number which can hurt me, the 7. Only thing I do not like about the Iron Cross is that when a 5, 6, or 8 rolls, you win on the Place Bet, but lose on the Field. Pretty frustrating when you're making only a buck or so when the middle numbers keep popping up. Meanwhile, you know that 7 is gonna pop up sooner or later. So you actually want some low and high numbers to roll in order for the Iron Cross to actually be profitable for you.
Bet higher units on place bets.. i play 25 30 30 15.. always going to make at least 15 dollars and gives you some good options for regression once you hit a few times
I do the same, and I usually wait till a 5-6-8 is rolled first so one miss is already out of the way. Then start the martingale, almost within 3 rolls it will be a field number
Faster decision means win or loss sooner. 100 decisions on the 4/9 (at $5) is still an expected $20 loss. It just may take you longer to get there. So if your goal is to watch ppl roll the dice for as long a possible, then field bet is not the way to go. Just don't bet at all and the cost per hour is $0
I also have an issue with the 100 rolls per hour that is a pipe dream on a busy table 55-75 per hour is more realistic especially after adding the hop and bonus games to the layout....
ooo treally a full huge table holds 11 players most players get 5 throws of dice takes maybe 1 min and trust me real fast number won or 7 out in secs. set timer on phone full player throws stop it bwteen players see how much time is consumed Been at this 49 years won hundreds of thousands mostly betting wrong but just cant hold onto wins bulid up full time bank roll at laest $50,000 would set me free to play craps daily win $250 per day in 6 hours 5 days a week tax free money for the year would be huge $65,000 a year invested in stocks and securities that pay 2% YUP sit home naked JO fuggg the wife and go gamble
im sure i have covered it in a couple videos, you can remove or pull down any bet, at anytime, Except a pass line or come bet and side bets like the ATS or fire bet, etc.
Color Up oh ok... so many things going on I guess I missed that. I used a hybrid of two methods I saw on your channel the first time I went to Vegas. Can wait to play again.

"Inside" bets are the 5, 6, 8, and 9.
You might be thinking of the proposition bets in the center of the table.
Yea i know a lot of gamblers tend to tell people to stay away from sucker bets but sometimes winning really big on a small bet is way more fun that slowly losing money playing "safe"
you sure opened me eyes to the field, thanks
It is interesting
Great job explaining the math behind everything. A lot of great points and knowledge on how the casino grinds out money for themselves.
The field bet is fun, especially if your friends are new, but if you're in it to reduce house edge might as well go play roulette (or better yet, blackjack).
Great illustration on ways to win or lose in the Field coupled with cost per hour
This is what I love about craps... the maths!! Thanks for the vid. 🤑
Glad you enjoyed!
Wow!! I did know anything about the field bet. Gracias For Explanation
This was enlightening. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Super informative for newbies. My wife likes to play the field often but she only plays molly. I only play the field when I'm playing inside. That way only the EVIL number will knock me down.
Its a great way to play..
Great job J love the break down we need more like this.
Thanks, will do
I have a theory on the field if you normally play the 6 and 8. If you play the pass line once a point is established you cover the pass line 5,6,8 and field. You now have every number covered except 7 of course. Also winning double with 2 and triple with 12 I think making it worth it. A lot better bet if the point is a 5,6 or 8 now you already have it covered on the pass line
That's called an Iron Cross.
Well done! Understandable content; now i know as much as ace rothenstien on the field!
The percentages on your field bet tool tips are backwards , it’s 2.8 on triple pays and 5.5 on double pays , love the video tho my man keep it up !
It’s all gambling, lose faster or slower, whichever you get the best entertainment from.
I LOVE LOVE the Field bet,, BUT of course Cover 6/8 covered AND right after a 7 Drop a GREEN on the field
Thank you for the great advice because I am a huge field better but you help me out a lot. I know what to do now.
Glad to hear it!
Great video man. I love the math
You can always tell the field better at a hot table. He's the one with the same number of chips or less in his hand while everyone else is winning.
Wow! Nicely explained!....Im a streaky Field Bettor....If the number is in the Field, I play the Field as well.....If a shooter constantly rolls Field numbers I bet the Field. Still a fun bet, like streaky hardways ....but Never on Every Roll !
Its a great bet when it wins, and bad bet when it loses 😉
Too True ! Thanks for the Great Instruction and Hard Work !
Great explanation, enjoyed it very much, well done
Thanks
I know a guy he hit 8 12’s in a row he killed the field for $12,000
very good explanation of the house edge and how it relates to common betters. thanks.
Very welcome
Great info…even with all that I still love playing the field…why? cause I get a decision every roll and it is easy to play
Nothing wrong with playing the field. It’s a gamble no matter what you bet on, and a good bet if it wins 😉
I just realized my favorite rolls are all Field numbers: Little Joe, Center Field Nine, Hard Ten the lady’s friend, and Yo-leven.
Math doesn’t change? Your outcome may change if betting/hedging additional bets I guess
I was at a table where the field came out 13 times in a row with 3, 12s coming out.
It happens
My practice rolls produce quite a few field numbers. I'm working on a system to implement the field with my betting.
I can’t go for any field slander 😂🤣 my favorite bet on the table especially when it starts hitting hot
When it when’s it’s a great bet 😄
Wouaww...now i have understand, tx for this vidéo
Great video as always! What are the decisions per hour for the other place bets?
Will make a video soon...it’s eye opening
DPH Breakdowns (DPH largest to smallest, then house edge largest to smallest for each sublist)
100 DPH: any 7, 2/12, 3/11, any craps, field
30 DPH: hard 6/8, big 6/8, lay 6/8, place 6/8, pass, come, don't pass, don't come
28: place 5/9, lay 5/9
25: hard 4/10, place 4/10, buy 4/10, lay 4/10.
Excellent lesson, thank you!
Thanks for watching
I know it gets hate, but the press/regress iron cross at a single player table and you're throwing well...
If my third attempt at the field loses I'll take my bets down and just wait for point
so ive been falling into this betting strategy, without the 5 bet. just 6,8, and field... 11.11% difference but working very well.
Great explanation of the field bet! Key reminder: 16 ways to win, 20 ways to lose!
yes sir
I heard somewhere before that if you look at the layout of the table the best bets are small(the dp/dc) and the worst bets are big (ie..the field bet)..I treat the field bet like. blk or red on roulette .play big and get out fast
Well the prop bets in middle of table are the smallest bets but also the worst so 🤷♂️
Great video, one of your best yet...
Thanks
With this info in mind... I wonder what the house edge and cost per hour would be for the beginner friendly iron cross would be?
Aaaaaand that’s why we don’t go farming
Good reason not to for sure
I wish I could get people to stop basing their strategies around the concept of "House Edge."
Just pay attention to your odds.
I have argued that point many times
How is it fair just because you have a 50% chance of winning and 50% chance of losing? A 50% chance to win is only fair if you are getting 1:1 on your money.
@@marknoble5495 You're right. But that becomes less of a worry, when you can fix the odds 90% in your favor.
Example:
If you play $64 Across + $5 Field, you have slightly better than an 83% chance to win.
Statistically, you should win at least 8 out of 10 rolls. This is great, because you only need 5 hits to break even. And that leaves 3 rolls available for profits. 😀
Of course, that's assuming that the 7 doesn't come up first. 🤪
But I'll take an 83% wager anyday!
Thank goodness, the house edge just saves them money, money that is not even offered to us.
Excellent analysis and description of the pros and cons of the field bet. I play it only occasionally on a lark, or maybe to hedge a Don't Pass bet. But only because it's a fun bet when you win.
Its fun, and its a "great" bet if it hits :)
How does a Field bet hedge a Don't Pass bet?
I always bet on the field while I play. Double or nothing kind of strategy 🤷🏿♀️ $15 minimum I started with $20 and walked away with $1k end of game it was so much fun especially when you get a 2 or 12. Bet how you want tho. It’s fun
Sure, if it hits it’s a good bet 😉
Great video Jeremy.
Glad you enjoyed
I play the field if the 2 or 12 pays triple but with money management using the Mini- Martingale system of 1-2-3 with a 20-40% loss limit, once the win goal is reached, I go into excesses and guarantees and plateaus and increase the bets. As my mentor John Patrick says the field isn't chopped steak but it isn't that bad either.
Jerry's Nugget had a field that pays Triple Midnight!
I like to play the field with money on the 568 to negate it if it don’t hit and once I get ahead, I just let it ride until seven hits
Good info, thanks Color Up!
You bet!
The only thing this video did not show is how to throw a field number. I found a great dice set that hits field numbers, usually a 4 or ten.
I thought about playing probability on the field and only bet it after a non field number rolls. Along with a 6,7,8 strategy. 🤷🏾♂️
Just wondering what is the cost per hour when playing the iron cross
Would love to know this as well.
Thank you
excellent video!!
Thank you!
Is there a software that can be used to calculate EV/ hour in craps?
has to be some here google it or yahoo it
Amazing documentary on the Field Bet. :)
Any 7 is the worst bet on the table.
@@jimklemens5018 not when you're up a lot on the roll and want to keep things working
@@vfrazie2 What’s the house edge on an Any 7 bet?
I'm not saying that's it's not truly the worst bet but at times it can be used in your favor to cover some of your losses when you have a lot of money on the table working. It can act as a hedge...
@@vfrazie2 If you want to hedge, wouldn't it be smarter to make a Lay bet?
This right here is how I play. I’ve never lost this way but never have won big.
Try to use field wins to buy rest of the numbers. Double win potential. On a longer roll of course.
I MARTINGALE THE FIELD BET AND MAKE MONEY--BETTING IT WON'T MISS SIX TIMES IN A ROW BEFORE I MAKE 50 DOLLARS AND GO HOME 5, 15, 35, 75, 150, 300
Just don't bet at all and the cost per hour is $0
Great Video!!! I play the Field…😁
I also have an issue with the 100 rolls per hour that is a pipe dream on a busy table 55-75 per hour is more realistic especially after adding the hop and bonus games to the layout....
ooo treally a full huge table holds 11 players most players get 5 throws of dice takes maybe 1 min and trust me real fast number won or 7 out in secs. set timer on phone full player throws stop it bwteen players see how much time is consumed
Been at this 49 years won hundreds of thousands mostly betting wrong but just cant hold onto wins bulid up full time bank roll at laest $50,000 would set me free to play craps daily win $250 per day in 6 hours 5 days a week tax free money for the year would be huge $65,000 a year invested in stocks and securities that pay 2%
YUP sit home naked JO fuggg the wife and go gamble
Do you have a video talking about when you can and cannot pull down bets? Love your videos
im sure i have covered it in a couple videos, you can remove or pull down any bet, at anytime, Except a pass line or come bet and side bets like the ATS or fire bet, etc.
Color Up oh ok... so many things going on I guess I missed that. I used a hybrid of two methods I saw on your channel the first time I went to Vegas. Can wait to play again.
I like to play the Dont Pass 2 come bets and a Dont come bet per shooter but i will wait for 5 no field numbers then play the field with the Martingale Strategy only because can only find $25 tables
I like to hop the 5 when I play the field, hedges the bet and gives you some nice odds IMO. 50 field 10 5 hopping.
Why do you think that hopping the 5 gives you some nice odds?
