Even though I am from a Sunni family I am very sad that this battle took place between the fourth rightful caliph Sayyidina Ali(K.W) and the Mother of the Faithful Lady Aisha.What saddens me even more is that Talhah and Zubair turned their backs upon Sayyidina Ali(K.W).Talhah and Zubair were from amongst the early pioneers of Islam and they were great warriors on the battlefields during the lifetime of the prophet Muhammad S.A.W.This was a tragic battle because thousands of Muslims got killed on the battlefield. Sayyidina Ali(K.W.)was innocent of the tragic death of Sayyidina Uthman who was killed by so called Muslims while he was reading the Quran.

As a shia the problem I see with this, is the use of one “shia” historian/book etc to generalise how all shia view the topic. half, if not the majority of the “shia” claims in this video would be laughed out of a shia mosque (or worse). for example, Ali (as) cursing a man using a derogatory term? I am Shia and a good source of the battle of Jamal is the book called Nahjul Balgha, which is a compile of sernons and letters of Imam Ali and many letters and Sermons were about the Battle.

I think you missed an important point why a lot of people believe Ali had a hand in the death of Uthamn. Because you mentioned Mohammad Ibn Abu Bakir being one of the main killers and the one that ordered the death of Uthamn. But you failed to mention that Mohammad Ibn Abu Bakir was raised and brought up by Ali because his mother when he was 2-3 years old married Ali. And this Mohammad Ibn Abu Bakir was made the Governor of Egypt by Ali.
the shia narrative as you know is the same people who had enough of uthman and developed resentment to him and even called for his head were the same people that used it as a excuse to rebel against imam ali a.s. it is known talha and zubair came to him and asked for positions and when they werent given they became bitter and joined forces with aisha who already had a bitterness to imam ali a.s. they raised a army and headed towards basra where talha and zubair had supporters. imam ali pleaded with zubair and eventually got through to him and he left the battle proof that there was another agenda besides finding the killers of uthman because others could of stopped also but clearly didnt . the war ended when aishas camel was taken down further proof that she was the motivator and wasnt going there for peaceful purposes as some try to sell

There is consensus of Ummah on this, in every fiqh, but extremes on both sides, i.e., Rafidhis and Naasbis are wrong. Jazakallahu khairan for this video and lecture; I really appreciate the historical source criticism that you do in the beginning, which really differentiates it from the sloppy lectures of Yasir Qadhi who includes every report and mixes them together creating a fantastical narrative that in fact no one ever reported! Excellent points, and resources, and critiques of the event. I look forward to Siffin, the khilafa of ibn al-Zubayr, and other events. I really would hope that for the average Muslim, you are able to present a sirah/maghazi and early Islamic history series (I know this might be too much to ask) that presents a counter narrative to that of Qadhi's.
Akhi your comment is slightly unfair to Yasir Qadhi, I’m watching his seerah series and he very clearly points out what are the stronger narrations vs. weaker narrations. And he gives a lot clarification about the full picture of an event when there’s piecemeal reports. He’s not perfect but he’s not creating fantasies and his work is not sloppy. It’s some of the most rigorous historical analysis in the english language

And likewise i see the ansar. Abubakr (ra) asked can i also see? The prophet (sws) said , “yes”. Abubakr asked how? The prophet did masah with his hands on abubakr’s eyes. Thus, abubakr saw what the prophet saw. Then, the prophet turned to abubakr and said, “You are siddique.” Tafsir Qumi, 1/289 2. Abdul azeem hassani narrates from Ali bin mohammad bin Ali al riza and he narrates from his father and granfather and they narrated from Hassan bin Ali (ra) that the prophet (sws) said: “ Abu bakr is beloved to me to the level of hearing, Umar to the level of sight and Uthman to the level of heart.” Alburhan 565, 4/564 3. Imam Reza (ra) was asked about the prophetic hadith, “My companions are like stars. Whomever you refer to, you’ll be guided.” Imam said, “This hadith is weak, but its meaning is inshallah correct.” Then he was asked about another prophetic hadith, “Leave my companions to myself. Do not annoy them. Do not slander them”. Imam (ra) said, “Its authentic.” Ayon Akhbar al reza lil-Qami 2/87

The correct answer is neither. The people that avoided the fitna were the ones that were successful and that is why Ali wished he was dead before the fitna ever occurred.
When Muslims go to war because of a fitna, it is best to avoid bloodshed by not taking part, even if one side is closer to the truth than the other. It is a simple concept.

Even though I am from a Sunni family I am very sad that this battle took place between the fourth rightful caliph Sayyidina Ali(K.W) and the Mother of the Faithful Lady Aisha.What saddens me even more is that Talhah and Zubair turned their backs upon Sayyidina Ali(K.W).Talhah and Zubair were from amongst the early pioneers of Islam and they were great warriors on the battlefields during the lifetime of the prophet Muhammad S.A.W.This was a tragic battle because thousands of Muslims got killed on the battlefield. As a shia the problem I see with this, is the use of one “shia” historian/book etc to generalise how all shia view the topic. half, if not the majority of the “shia” claims in this video would be laughed out of a shia mosque (or worse). for example, Ali (as) cursing a man using a derogatory term? Shia hold Ali (as) to honorable standards, and that is not honorable by any means. chastise the individual writers, not the sect.

I think you missed an important point why a lot of people believe Ali had a hand in the death of Uthamn. Because you mentioned Mohammad Ibn Abu Bakir being one of the main killers and the one that ordered the death of Uthamn. But you failed to mention that Mohammad Ibn Abu Bakir was raised and brought up by Ali because his mother when he was 2-3 years old married Ali. the shia narrative as you know is the same people who had enough of uthman and developed resentment to him and even called for his head were the same people that used it as a excuse to rebel against imam ali a.s. it is known talha and zubair came to him and asked for positions and when they werent given they became bitter and joined forces with aisha who already had a bitterness to imam ali a.s. they raised a army and headed towards basra where talha and zubair had supporters. imam ali pleaded with zubair and eventually got through to him and he left the battle proof that there was another agenda besides finding the killers of uthman because others could of stopped also but clearly didnt . the war ended when aishas camel was taken down further proof that she was the motivator and wasnt going there for peaceful purposes as some try to sell

Akhi your comment is slightly unfair to Yasir Qadhi, I’m watching his seerah series and he very clearly points out what are the stronger narrations vs. weaker narrations. And he gives a lot clarification about the full picture of an event when there’s piecemeal reports. He’s not perfect but he’s not creating fantasies and his work is not sloppy. It’s some of the most rigorous historical analysis in the english language

“When the prophet (sws) was in the cave, he (sws) said to Abu Bakr (ra), “I see the ship of jaffar in the river with his companions. And likewise i see the ansar. Abubakr (ra) asked can i also see? Then, the prophet turned to abubakr and said, “You are siddique.”
