@@saltyolbroad2962 the lowest level is around 5-10% of your body weight when the cables are not connected to the glideboard. When the cables are attached, that amount of weight is cut in half. I'm not a first time Total Gym owner. I had bought a small frame decades ago in California, and brought it with me when we moved cross country in 2005. Got rid of it in about 2016, and have regretted that decision ever since. Thanks for the clear, concise explanation of the various models and all that. You're right, it was beyond confusing. Glad I saw your video, and even though I thought "this guy doesn't look like a gym rat," your advice was right on the money.

Total Gym Corp told me around Jan 5th, 2022 due to shipping issues the rest of my order won't be arriving until late March 2022. It's worth the wait.

Thanks for the video it is helpful. I am 70 years old and was given a old Total gym 1500. However, I was not given any instructions for setup and use. I was told there was a VHS tape but was lost, as well as a wall poster showing workouts. Where would I find those items and any accessories for this old model?

I would like to know the width ( in inches) of the Apex g5 ,the XLS,and the Fit glide boards.The XLS appears to be the widest of the non- commercial models. I'm 6' 2" so I might need a wider glide board for my size.Great comparison of the models.Thanks,David!
Here are the measurements: FIT glideboard is 45”L x 15”W; XLS glideboard 46.5”L x 15.75”W. I'm not sure of the size of the G5, but I think it would be about the same size as the G3 (44" X 15"). Hope that helps! Thanks for watching!
Thank you for your coverage of the different Total Gym models. I noticed from the pictures of the Apex series the tower on the G5 is wider than the G3 & G1. This seems to suggest why the G5 hard a greater weight capacity than the G3 & G1. Also do you think buying better wheels for the Apex series will improve the glide on the rails?
Hi, Jose - Good observation on the tower width on the G5! That's probably why it can support more weight. I don't know for certain, but that completely makes sense! I have heard that upgrading the wheels on the small frame models can help improve the glide. I haven't tried it myself. If you do want to do that, you will probably have to purchase from a 3rd party because it looks like Total Gym only sells exact replacements. Huck Products sells replacement wheels for the Total Gym that are really well made, so that is one place I would suggest. One difference with the Huck wheels is that they have a flat surface, whereas the Total Gym wheels are rounded. I purchased some Huck wheels for an XLS model I used to own, and I noticed that the flat wheels allowed the glideboard to move a little bit left to right when doing squats. It freaked me out at first because I thought the board was coming off the rails, but it was completely secure. With that said, I do feel comfortable recommending the Huck brand as a wheel upgrade for the small-frame models. For larger-frame models I personally would stick with the Total Gym brand wheels. Thank you for this great video! So in comparing accessories, I see the XL7 has Dip Bars and Press Bars, while the Xtreme has Tri-Grip Bars. Since I do not know how any of these are used, which of these Bar accessories would be a more practical choice?

Can the XLS have weight bar towards the bottom of it and at the top near the head? If so how big a deal is it to have a bar in two different locations?
Great question! Yes, the XLS has holes to place a weight bar in the top and/or bottom of the glideboard. I personally have not tried this, but when the top bar is overloaded, the weight bar starts hitting up against the glide rails and the metal trim on the board can bend. Total Gym ships the XLS with the top holes plugged with rubber stoppers, so they obviously don't want people using them for that reason. Maybe if you go light up top it would be OK.

I haven’t heard anything negative about buying refurbished directly from Total Gym. I believe they have a no refund policy on refurbished models but they will send you replacement parts if anything is missing or broken. I always hear positive things about their customer service. FYI .. QVC will be selling the Total Gym Fit Ultimate Jan 11-13. They usually it for around $700 with lots of extras. It’s usually the best deal you’ll find for a brand new Total Gym Fit. If you are in Canada, 🇨🇦 TSC will have the Total Gym on sale (not sure which model) on Jan 20/21.

It's still a great deal, even though it's missing a few things vs. the Ultimate: Pilates toe bar, weight bar, and Pilates extension rope. The Ultimate also has 15 levels of resistance vs. 12 on the Signature model, but that isn't a big deal. The towers are the same height so the total resistance is the same. On the Ultimate, the levels are just closer together to squeeze them all in. Still a very good deal for brand new.
Yes, you can purchase attachments separately, but check the website (tinyurl.com/tg-attach ) to make sure they carry ones that will fit your model. Which model do you have?
They usually have them 2-3 times per year, but it's hard to say when they will have the sale next. They had a sale earlier this year in January. They also have a chat feature on their website that may be able to help. I've heard of some people using freight forwarding services.
