Ski boards were a game changer for me. After many years of skiing on traditional size skis, I tried ski boards for the first time and it was like an epiphany. I could instantly ski any slope with no problem at all. So much fun and I never went back to regular skis after that.
i love skiboards and to all the middle aged dads out there who have never skied or haven’t in 10+ years if u want to get out there with ur kids and have a blast on the mountain with a very shallow learning curve look no further than ski boards
I absolutely love Skiboarding! I'll never go back to regular skis. They're so freeing and nimble. Some people say they aren't all mountain but I've done top to bottom at Breckenridge's 12k+ ft mtn. Great video, my friend! I'd love to see more Skiboard videos.
Great video! Refreshing to hear a different perspective on skiboarding. Joey from mushroom blading always describes it is the worst thing ever but I’m glad to hear that. It’s actually pretty fun. 😁
Great video! It's interesting to hear a talented inline skater's perspective. I've been skiboarding for 24 years. Started on skis, switch to skiboards, dabbled with skis again about four seasons back but didn't stick with them. Shorties are just more fun to me. There are skiboards out there for varying terrain and all conditions. There's even a RVL8 Skiboards pro team of riders who are awesome in the terrain park.
Ya I have been diving deep down the rabbit hole of skiboarding content lately. Really getting inspired by @Talon_Sei on the RVL8 skiboards and park riding!
I have skiboarding in New England since the mid-90's. I was a skier then switched and never will go back. Way too much fun. Also great conversations with people in lift lines and on the lift. My wife has been skiboarding since 2003 and she loves them. Don't have to put a seat down in the car or have a roof rack to transporting them. Have Fun.
Dude this is exactly what I needed to hear about skiboards - Winter is a total dead season for me. I've tried cross country skiing which feels super weird, never tried downhill, and ice skating is not quite my jam. I might start looking into a set of these after hearing one of the guys you were with was a skater but not a skier kinda like me.
Brilliant vid, Brenden! Those skiboards look like so much fun. If I'm ever going skiing - something I've never done, but really want to try - it's definitely gonna be on those things.
This make's me so jealous! Last winter here in NZ was the worst one in 25 years. I got to go skiing twice for once or two days each. There simply wasn't any snow due to the high temperatures and tonnes of rain.
@@ThirtyandRollin Well, due to the terrible winter and the previous two seasons being covid impacted, the company doing the only ski field on the North Island actually went bankrupt at the end of last season. Here's hoping someone bails them out before the new season or there will be no skiing, snow or not :(
I started snowboarding recently now that I live near the mountains. I've been curious about skiing since I use to dabble with inline growing up. I think I might give these a shot since speed isnt high on my priorities.
My son is a good inline skater/hockey player. When he was 7, I took him skiing for the first time, and put him on skiblades. His first day we stuck to the greens, no problem. Second day we did blues, third day we did blacks. By the fourth day he was flying down moguls and I threw my back out just trying to keep up with him.
I finally bought the skiboards I’ve had my eye on for a while now, Summit 110 with release bindings. Not cheap but tons of fun. They’re awesome and because they have demo bindings anyone can use them. I don’t know why these aren’t used as rentals for beginners, so much easier than regular skis. I think these would allow people to have much more fun when first starting.
I tried to ski five years ago on regular skis and failed. Tried 99cm Snowjams last year and was able to turn and stop. Just tried some 138s yesterday and they worked great.
These look so fun. I'm a novice skier, and I really enjoy ice skating . I also hate toting around the poles and ski boots and skis and would love to grab something less clunky. Do you think it would be easy for someone like me to switch from skis to skiboards?
I’m 32 I been snowboarding since I was 6 and skating since I was 4. Now I’ve Never really wanted to try skis but these look worth buying and trying. A lot more style with those forsure
Great review from the perspective of both online skating and skiing. I've been eager to try ski boards for a long time. Did you try grinds or jumps on a terrain park?
Skiboarding is very similar to inline. I actually was able to go from ski boarding to inline park riding very fast. For those that struggle, skimboards amplify all the things you do wrong on skis. You have to be better balanced on skiboards. Riding the edges is the best way to be successful. Having been through the shape ski introduction and ski board introduction while I was riding professionally allowed me to become better in all areas. Don't write them off because you cant do it. They are a great tool to improve areas of your skiing. We trained for PSIA with one ski and one skiboard. If you are truly a sound skier, you will not tell a difference no matter what you are strapped to.
Yes I have. They would be a shorter ski base like a skate wheel base but I wouldn't want anything much shorter than these. I think the super short snowfeet would be too limiting and squirrely. I think this is the sweet spot.
@@ThirtyandRollin You are right with them being limited. They don't work well in deep snow. However if the snow is more hard pack, they are amazing. Feels exactly like the blades. Can even skate around on flat ground. I might invest in the skiboards next and take them out in deeper snow. Looks like lots of fun!
I'm worried about being able to stay afloat with anything other than groomers with anything shorter then say about 80cm in length. I also love my Full Tilt boots and don't know about the ODR boot fit/feel.
closest thing to inline on snow would be bigfoots. The bindings were a total shitshow on those & got discontinued due to safety reasons in 2007. The non release binding kinda released when you were going fast, was pretty banging in snowboard parks though. The problem with snowblades (or skiboards as they call em these days) is that your choice is garbage, or slightly less garbage. nobody seems to invest in it & all the big players dropped out due to no profit or simply went bankrupt. the ones line made back in the day still makes all the current ones look like garbage. Would be cool to see a bigfoot revival based around snowboard bindings & boots. wich would make a lot more sense then ski boots as a platform. They're cool until you discover snowboarding, and then you completely forget about them imo. We usually did a day on something like this near the end of a ski trip, and sometimes only one bigfoot made it back hahah.
I'd have to disagree. I would never want to skiboard in snowboard boots or bindings, too much slop. I have skied/skated for 20+ years and snowboarded for 14. Love them all but in terms of relating to inline skating nothing takes the cake like skiing or skiboarding. Snowboarding is great don't get me wrong but it's kinda like saying skateboarding is more fun than inline skating. And I don't think that argument can be settled. It's a matter of taste.

I remember these type of skis about 18 years ago. You would add S/Z brackets to the side enabling you to do soul type grinds as well.

Ya they were surprisingly good everywhere! I hope to make a few more at some point. Need to acquire my own pair first😁

As an inline skater and skiier, I really enjoyed the insight of this video!
I only went snowboarding for the first time last year ...... the addiciton was instant ...... now I want the Aussie snow season so I can try this :)
Refreshing. I inline skate and have snowboarded, but I've never skied and/but have always wanted to try this.
Do it.
I am glad someone else is putting Skiboards out there. Ill have a set in my quiver always.
Great video! Refreshing to hear a different perspective on skiboarding. Joey from mushroom blading always describes it is the worst thing ever but I’m glad to hear that. It’s actually pretty fun. 😁
It's super fun. Not going to take over skiing or skating for me but just another sport that is very similar to mess around with.

Ya dude! Super easy to get into. You will have a blast!
I love my summit 106cm, will never go back to long skis.
Haha right on! Those GroovN skiboards look dope!
Lookin' good! I have always enjoyed riding skiboards. In fact, I might be getting a brand new pair to go with my old pair this season. Love it!
Wish it wasn't such a mild winter where I'm at cuz I've really wanted to try a pair of these. Thanks for sharing your thoughts man!!🙏
No problem!
Loved the video! That was the best day ever shredding it up with you guys!
Ya dude! So much fun! Go to do it again for sure!
They sure would feel different to me my ski's are 74 inches long over 40 old Great video
I only use these and I rip down trails, carve ( still practicing technique though) and go down moguls. I always have a blast
Sick!

Wow that it incredible! You guys still skiboarding?
Great video! Awesome points, editing. But really, you’re skiing was a pleasure to witness both in person and through this video.

I just got some ski boards this season. Good video!
Great video. What model of Summit Skiboards were you riding?
I tried them for the first time in 1996 and haven't gone back to long skis since.
You got all the points brother, i been skiboarding for 17 yrs. Try different skiboards, you'd forget your long skis forever.
Thanks and ya after a while it could possibly be my go to gear.

great video :) thanks for all the great information!
Not a problem!
Great video awesome content.
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it!
No worries man I've always enjoyed watching your videos I'm trying to build something similar with my channel.

I did not that day but will be in the park my next time up.

100% agree with everything you just said! Thanks for the comment!
Have you heard of snow feet? They might resemble rollerblades even more than these. Just got a pair and they are so much fun!
Yes I have. They would be a shorter ski base like a skate wheel base but I wouldn't want anything much shorter than these. I think the super short snowfeet would be too limiting and squirrely. I think this is the sweet spot.

I couldn't turn or carve very well in those things, almost hit a few people because of it. Not enough surface area to slow down properly.
The possibilities skiing street on these are endless
What about odr skis? Or tomsen snowskates? You gotta try those if you love skating.
I'm worried about being able to stay afloat with anything other than groomers with anything shorter then say about 80cm in length. I also love my Full Tilt boots and don't know about the ODR boot fit/feel.
Hey, I thought i about getting a pair of shorties, but in in-between getting 65cm or 90cm?
I'm a fan of longer 99-118
In my opinion, due to the tendency to lean back, the bindings should be placed a more forward
They are true center currently. Wouldn't want to push them further than that.
What’s to cons of using these vs skis & snowboaeds
A bit less stable and don't float as well in the pow.

What size are the blades
@@abelgarcia480 these were 110cm
What was the length on these?
They were the Summit Bamboo 110s (a few years old).
For those who grew up in the 90’s… snowblades.
Haha I know it was so hard for me not to say that.
