I'll admit that when Act I came out I wasn't really into it and was holding on to those earlier albums. When Act II came out, I listened to both and found new love for them. Like many of the earlier albums, Vaxis I and II have helped me through very difficult times and are part of the reason I am still around to type this to you today. This is the reason we all love Coheed! They put out a pop song with auto-tuned vocals, then follow it up with a thrash punk song. Not a lot of bands have this kind of versatility.
I mean, there is still lots of vocal processing in this song as well. This has more screaming than normal but it's not a thrash song by any stretch of the imagination. The chorus is pop punk with the "yeah, yeah, yeah" hook.. The last song they put out was Deranged which is basically just classic a C&C ballad. The Joke has poppier vocals than this song but the guitar hook is heavily dissonant and not "pop".
